Choosing the right Sa is the most important decision you make. With the wrong Sa the throat tires and the high notes won't come; with the right Sa singing becomes easy and sweet.

- ਕਿਸੇ ਕੀ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੋ: ਮਰਦ C# (ਕਾਲੀ ੧), ਬੀਬੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ G# (ਕਾਲੀ ੪)।
- ਉਸ ਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਬਾ ਕੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ "ਸਾ" ਗਾਓ। ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਕਲਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।

- ਜੇ ਤਾਰ ਸਾ ਔਖਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਖਿਸਕੋ। ਜੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਪਾ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਕੀ ਉੱਪਰ।
- ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਾਰ ਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਪਾ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਣ, ਉਹੀ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਛੋਟਾ ਲਾਲ ਸਟਿੱਕਰ ਲਾ ਦਿਓ।
- Start from a key: men C# (Kali 1); women and children G# (Kali 4).
- Press it and sing "Sa" comfortably. The voice should come out open, without strain.
- Now sing up to upper Sa, then down to lower Pa.
- If upper Sa is hard, move one key down. If lower Pa will not come, move one key up.
- The key where both upper Sa and lower Pa feel comfortable is your Sa. Put a small red sticker on it.

In the Harmonium Key Finder, choose your Sa under "Play Sa on key". The notes of any recording will be moved to your Sa for you.

The voice is lower in the morning and more open in the evening. When boys' voices break, their Sa changes too — check it again every few months.
