ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਸਭ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟ ॥
mere man har bhaj sabh kilabikh kaatt |
O my mind, meditate, vibrate on the Lord, and all sins will be eradicated.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੀਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har har ur dhaario gur poorai meraa sees keejai gur vaatt |1| rahaau |
The Guru has enshried the Lord, Har, Har, within my heart I place my head on the Guru's Path. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਣ, ਜੇ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਿਰ (ਅਜਿਹੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ (ਭੇਟਾ) ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਕਟਿ ਕਾਟ ॥
mere har prabh kee mai baat sunaavai tis man devau katt kaatt |
Whoever tells me the stories of my Lord God, I would cut my mind into slices, and dedicate it to him.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਾਵੇ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੇਲਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਬਿਕਾਨੋ ਹਟਿ ਹਾਟ ॥੧॥
har saajan melio gur poorai gur bachan bikaano hatt haatt |1|
The Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord, my Friend I have sold myself at each and every store for the Guru's Word. ||1||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੱਟੀ ਹੱਟੀ ਵਿਕਿਆ (ਗੁਲਾਮ) ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮਕਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਗਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਦੀਓ ਅਧ ਕਾਟਿ ॥

One may give donations in charity at Prayaag, and cut the body in two at Benares,
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਘ ਦੀ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਂਦ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਗ-ਤੀਰਥ ਉਤੇ (ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਵੱਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੁ-ਫਾੜ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਗਿਆ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ)
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਟਿ ਕਾਟ ॥੨॥
bin har naam ko mukat na paavai bahu kanchan deejai katt kaatt |2|
but without the Lord's Name, no one attains liberation, even though one may give away huge amounts of gold. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁਕਤੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ) ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੋਨਾ ਭੀ ਥੋੜਾ ਥੋੜਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਓ ਮਨਿ ਉਘਰੇ ਕਪਟ ਕਪਾਟ ॥
har keerat guramat jas gaaeo man ughare kapatt kapaatt |
When one follows the Guru's Teachings, and sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, the doors of the mind, held shut by deception, are thrown open again.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਵਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਕਿਵਾੜ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਗਏ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ)।
ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਫੋਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਲਜ ਭਾਨੀ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਮਾਟ ॥੩॥
trikuttee for bharam bhau bhaagaa laj bhaanee mattukee maatt |3|
The three qualities are shattered, doubt and fear run away, and the clay pot of public opinion is broken. ||3||
ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਝ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਦੀ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਭੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ (ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਸੀ) ॥੩॥
ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਲਿਲਾਟ ॥
kalajug gur pooraa tin paaeaa jin dhur masatak likhe lilaatt |
They alone find the Perfect Guru in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, upon whose foreheads such pre-ordained destiny is inscribed.
ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਸਭ ਲਾਥੀ ਭੂਖ ਤਿਖਾਟ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਜਿਹੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ॥੪॥੬॥ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਟਹਲ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰ ॥
re man ttehal har sukh saar |
O mind, true peace comes from serving the Lord.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਟਹਲਾ ਝੂਠੀਆ ਨਿਤ ਕਰੈ ਜਮੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
avar ttahalaa jhoottheea nit karai jam sir maar |1| rahaau |
Other services are false, and as punishment for them, the Messenger of Death bashes in one's head. ||1||Pause||
ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਟਹਲਾਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ, (ਹੋਰ ਟਹਲਾਂ-ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਵਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਨਾ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੀਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੰਗਾਰ ॥
jinaa masatak leekhiaa te mile sangaar |
They alone join the Sangat, the Congregation, upon whose forehead such destiny is inscribed.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਗ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੧॥
sansaar bhaujal taariaa har sant purakh apaar |1|
They are carried across the terrifying world-ocean by the Saints of the Infinite, Primal Lord God. ||1||
(ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਨਿਤ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਤਜਿ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
nit charan sevahu saadh ke taj lobh moh bikaar |
Serve forever at the feet of the Holy renounce greed, emotional attachment and corruption.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
ਸਭ ਤਜਹੁ ਦੂਜੀ ਆਸੜੀ ਰਖੁ ਆਸ ਇਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੨॥
sabh tajahu doojee aasarree rakh aas ik nirankaar |2|
Abandon all other hopes, and rest your hopes in the One Formless Lord. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਕੋਝੀ ਆਸ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ। ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖ ॥੨॥
ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਸਾਕਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰ ॥
eik bharam bhoole saakataa bin gur andh andhaar |
Some are faithless cynics, deluded by doubt without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਕਈ ਐਸੇ ਬੰਦੇ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਧੁਰਿ ਹੋਵਨਾ ਸੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੋ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰ ॥੩॥
dhur hovanaa su hoeaa ko na mettanahaar |3|
Whatever is pre-ordained, comes to pass no one can erase it. ||3||
(ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੋ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਹੋਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਅਗਮ ਰੂਪੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਨਾਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
agam roop gobind kaa anik naam apaar |
The beauty of the Lord of the Universe is profound and unfathomable the Names of the Infinite Lord are immunerable.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ)।
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰ ॥੪॥੧॥
dhan dhan te jan naanakaa jin har naamaa ur dhaar |4|1|
Blessed, blessed are those humble beings, O Nanak, who enshrine the Lord's Name in their hearts. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਮਾਲੀ ਗਉੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥
raam naam kau namasakaar |
I humbly bow to the Name of the Lord.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaas japat hovat udhaar |1| rahaau |
Chanting it, one is saved. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਧੰਧ ॥
jaa kai simaran mitteh dhandh |
Meditating on Him in remembrance, conflicts are ended.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮਨ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ),
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਬੰਧ ॥
jaa kai simaran chhootteh bandh |
Meditating on Him, one's bonds are untied.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਚਤੁਰ ॥
jaa kai simaran moorakh chatur |
Meditating on Him, the fool becomes wise.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕੁਲਹ ਉਧਰ ॥੧॥
jaa kai simaran kulah udhar |1|
Meditating on Him, one's ancestors are saved. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੁਲ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ) ॥੧॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਉ ਦੁਖ ਹਰੈ ॥
jaa kai simaran bhau dukh harai |
Meditating on Him, fear and pain are taken away.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਪਦਾ ਟਰੈ ॥
jaa kai simaran apadaa ttarai |
Meditating on Him, misfortune is avoided.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਬਿਪਤਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੋਂ) ਟਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮੁਚਤ ਪਾਪ ॥
jaa kai simaran muchat paap |
Meditating on Him, sins are erased.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥
jaa kai simaran nahee santaap |2|
Meditating on Him, agony is ended. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ) ॥੨॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਰਿਦ ਬਿਗਾਸ ॥
jaa kai simaran rid bigaas |
Meditating on Him, the heart blossoms forth.
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਵਲਾ ਦਾਸਿ ॥
jaa kai simaran kavalaa daas |
Meditating on Him, Maya becomes one's slave.
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ (ਭੀ) ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
jaa kai simaran nidh nidhaan |
Meditating on Him, one is blessed with the treasures of wealth.
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤਰੇ ਨਿਦਾਨ ॥੩॥

Meditating on Him, one crosses over in the end. ||3||
ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ) ॥੩॥
ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ ॥
patit paavan naam haree |
The Name of the Lord is the Purifier of sinners.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਕੋਟਿ ਭਗਤ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਕਰੀ ॥
kott bhagat udhaar karee |
It saves millions of devotees.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਦਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਾ ਦੀਨੁ ਸਰਨ ॥
har daas daasaa deen saran |
I am meek I seek the Sanctuary of the slaves of the Lord's slaves.
ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ)।
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਥਾ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨ ॥੪॥੨॥

Nanak lays his forehead on the feet of the Saints. ||4||2||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
ਮਾਲੀ ਗਉੜਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਐਸੋ ਸਹਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥

This is the sort of helper the Name of the Lord is.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ),
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhasangat bhaj pooran kaam |1| rahaau |
Meditating in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one's affairs are perfectly resolved. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਕੇ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ। (ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ। ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਬੂਡਤ ਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਮਿਲਤ ॥
booddat kau jaise berree milat |
It is like a boat to a drowning man.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਉਂ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਬੇੜੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ,
