ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਗੁਫਾ ਤਹ ਆਸਨੁ ॥
sun samaadh gufaa teh aasan |
They sit there, in the cave of deep Samaadhi
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਥੇ ਐਸੀ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਇਕ ਫੁਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਉੱਠਦਾ, (ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਦ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਕੇਵਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਹ ਬਾਸਨੁ ॥

the unique, perfect Lord God dwells there.
ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੋਸਟਿ ਕਰਤ ॥
bhagat sang prabh gosatt karat |
God holds conversations with His devotees.
(ਜਿਸ ਭਗਤ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ) ਭਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਹ ਹਰਖ ਨ ਸੋਗ ਨ ਜਨਮ ਨ ਮਰਤ ॥੩॥
teh harakh na sog na janam na marat |3|
There is no pleasure or pain, no birth or death there. ||3||
ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ (ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੇ ਡਰ) ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa jis aap divaaeaa |
One whom the Lord Himself blesses with His Mercy,
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
saadhasang tin har dhan paaeaa |
obtains the Lord's wealth in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
(ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

Nanak prays to the merciful Primal Lord
ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਵਰਤਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੩੫॥
har meree varatan har meree raas |4|24|35|
the Lord is my merchandise, and the Lord is my capital. ||4||24||35||
ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੀ ਵਰਤਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ੈ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੩੫॥

ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਬੇਦ ॥

The Vedas do not know His greatness.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਗੱਲ (ਚਾਰੇ) ਵੇਦ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਭੇਦ ॥
brahame nahee jaaneh bhed |
Brahma does not know His mystery.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
ਅਵਤਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਅੰਤੁ ॥
avataar na jaaneh ant |
Incarnated beings do not know His limit.
ਸਾਰੇ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਭੀ ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ॥੧॥

The Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God, is infinite. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਪਨੀ ਗਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
apanee gat aap jaanai |
Only He Himself knows His own state.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਅਵਰ ਵਖਾਨੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sun sun avar vakhaanai |1| rahaau |
Others speak of Him only by hearsay. ||1||Pause||
(ਜੀਵ) ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਬਾਰੇ) ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਕਰਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਭੇਵ ॥
sankaraa nahee jaaneh bhev |
Shiva does not know His mystery.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ,
ਖੋਜਤ ਹਾਰੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
khojat haare dev |
The gods gave grown weary of searching for Him.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ।
ਦੇਵੀਆ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ਮਰਮ ॥
deveea nahee jaanai maram |
The goddesses do not know His mystery.
ਦੇਵੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ।
ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੨॥
sabh aoopar alakh paarabraham |2|
Above all is the unseen, Supreme Lord God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਦਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਅਪਨੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੇਲ ॥
apanai rang karataa kel |
The Creator Lord plays His own plays.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਜ ਵਿਚ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਕੌਤਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਿ ਬਿਛੋਰੈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲ ॥
aap bichhorai aape mel |
He Himself separates, and He Himself unites.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮੇ ਇਕਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਏ ॥
eik bharame ik bhagatee laae |
Some wander around, while others are linked to His devotional worship.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਆ ਆਪਿ ਜਣਾਏ ॥੩॥
apanaa keea aap janaae |3|
By His actions, He makes Himself known. ||3||
(ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
santan kee sun saachee saakhee |
Listen to the true story of the Saints.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ।
ਸੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਜੋ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਆਖੀ ॥
so boleh jo pekheh aakhee |
They speak only of what they see with their eyes.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਹੀ ਲੇਪੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਪਿ ॥
nahee lep tis pun na paap |
He is not involved with virtue or vice.
(ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਨੇ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਪ ਨੇ (ਕਦੇ ਆਪਣਾ) ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੬॥

Nanak's God is Himself all-in-all. ||4||25||36||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੬॥

ਕਿਛਹੂ ਕਾਜੁ ਨ ਕੀਓ ਜਾਨਿ ॥

I have not tried to do anything through knowledge.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਕੰਮ ਮਿਥ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ॥
surat mat naahee kichh giaan |
I have no knowledge, intelligence or spiritual wisdom.
ਗਿਆਨ-ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਤਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦੀ।
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੀਲ ਨਹੀ ਧਰਮ ॥
jaap taap seel nahee dharam |
I have not practiced chanting, deep meditation, humility or righteousness.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਪਾਂ ਤਪਾਂ ਸੀਲ-ਧਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਕੈਸਾ ਕਰਮ ॥੧॥
kichhoo na jaanau kaisaa karam |1|
I know nothing of such good karma. ||1||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥

O my Beloved God, my Lord and Master,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ!
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਭੂਲਹ ਚੂਕਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tujh bin doojaa avar na koee bhoolah chookah prabh tere |1| rahaau |
there is none other than You. Even though I wander and make mistakes, I am still Yours, God. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ) ਖੁੰਝਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਹਾਂ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਰਿਧਿ ਨ ਬੁਧਿ ਨ ਸਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥
ridh na budh na sidh pragaas |
I have no wealth, no intelligence, no miraculous spiritual powers I am not enlightened.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਕੇ ਗਾਵ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਸੁ ॥
bikhai biaadh ke gaav meh baas |
I dwell in the village of corruption and sickness.
ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ-ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ॥
karanahaar mere prabh ek |
O my One Creator Lord God,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ!
ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੨॥
naam tere kee man meh ttek |2|
Your Name is the support of my mind. ||2||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਉ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
sun sun jeevau man ihu bisraam |
Hearing, hearing Your Name, I live this is my mind's consolation.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਇਹ ਧਰਵਾਸ ਹੈ
ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
paap khanddan prabh tero naam |
Your Name, God, is the Destroyer of sins.
ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਅਗਨਤੁ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
too aganat jeea kaa daataa |
You, O Limitless Lord, are the Giver of the soul.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਗਿਣੀਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਣਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
jiseh janaaveh tin too jaataa |3|
He alone knows You, unto whom You reveal Yourself. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ ਪਛਾਣ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜੋ ਉਪਾਇਓ ਤਿਸੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ॥
jo upaaeo tis teree aas |
Whoever has been created, rests his hopes in You.
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ (ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ) ਹੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥
sagal araadheh prabh gunataas |
All worship and adore You, God, O treasure of excellence.
ਹੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
naanak daas terai kurabaan |
Slave Nanak is a sacrifice to You.
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੭॥

My merciful Lord and Master is infinite. ||4||26||37||
(ਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-) ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੭॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ, ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੋਟਿ ਭਵ ਖੰਡੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਖਿਆਲ ॥

ਜੇ ਅੱਖ ਫਰਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਗਲ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਜੰਤ ॥

ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਸੇ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਿਲੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਤ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਅਨ ਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ॥

My God is the Giver of souls.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

The Perfect Transcendent Lord Master, my God, imbues each and every heart. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਹੀ ਮਨ ਓਟ ॥

My mind has grasped His Support.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ,
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਈ ਛੋਟ ॥
bandhan te hoee chhott |
My bonds have been shattered.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਿ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥

Within my heart, I meditate on the Lord, the embodiment of supreme bliss.
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਪ ਕੇ-
ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦ ॥੨॥
man maeh bhe anand |2|
My mind is filled with ecstasy. ||2||
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਤਾਰਣ ਤਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣ ॥

The Lord's Sanctuary is the boat to carry us across.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ॥
jeevan roop har charan |
The Lord's Feet are the embodiment of life itself.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
