ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਜਨੁ ਬਿਛੂਅ ਡਸਾਨਾ ॥੨॥
naam sunat jan bichhooa ddasaanaa |2|
If you hear the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you feel like you have been stung by a scorpion. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਉਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਠੂੰਹਾਂ ਡੰਗ ਮਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੈ ॥
maaeaa kaaran sad hee jhoorai |
You continually yearn for Maya,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਕਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
man mukh kabeh na usatat karai |
and you never chant the Lord's Praises with your mouth.
ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
nirbhau nirankaar daataar |
The Lord is fearless and formless He is the Great Giver.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਭਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਗਵਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

But you do not love Him, you fool! ||3||
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਸਭ ਸਾਹਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
sabh saahaa sir saachaa saahu |
God, the True King, is above the heads of all kings.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਸਭ ਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈਂ,
ਵੇਮੁਹਤਾਜੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ॥
vemuhataaj pooraa paatisaahu |
He is the independent, perfect Lord King.
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈਂ।
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਿਰਹ ॥
moh magan lapattio bhram girah |
People are intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in doubt and family life.
(ਤੇਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੀ ਗੰਢ ਬੱਝੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਰੀਐ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੩੨॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ- ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੩੨॥

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਜਪਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

Night and day, I chant the Lord's Name.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਉ ਥਾਉ ॥
aagai daragah paavau thaau |
Hereafter, I shall obtain a seat in the Court of the Lord.
(ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
sadaa anand na hovee sog |
I am in bliss forever I have no sorrow.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ
ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥੧॥
kabahoo na biaapai haumai rog |1|
The disease of ego never afflicts me. ||1||
ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਖੋਜਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
khojahu santahu har braham giaanee |
O Saints of the Lord, seek out those who know God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bisaman bisam bhe bisamaadaa param gat paaveh har simar paraanee |1| rahaau |
You shall be wonderstruck with wonder at the wonderful Lord meditate in remembrance on the Lord, O mortal, and obtain the supreme status. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਬੜੀ ਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਇਗੀ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗਨਿ ਮਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸਗਲ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
gan min dekhahu sagal beechaar |
Calculating, measuring, and thinking in every way,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸਾਰੇ ਗਹੁ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ,
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਤਾਰਿ ॥
naam binaa ko sakai na taar |
see that without the Naam, no one can be carried across.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੰਘਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਨ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
sagal upaav na chaaleh sang |
Of all your efforts, none will go along with you.
(ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਹੀਲੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ (ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ)।
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥
bhavajal tareeai prabh kai rang |2|
You can cross over the terrifying world-ocean only through the love of God. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਦੇਹੀ ਧੋਇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
dehee dhoe na utarai mail |
By merely washing the body, one's filth is not removed.
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਤੀਰਥ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਤਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਫੈਲੁ ॥
haumai biaapai dubidhaa fail |
Afflicted by egotism, duality only increases.
(ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ) ਹਉਮੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਪਸਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਖੰਡੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
har har aaukhadh jo jan khaae |
That humble being who takes the medicine of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
taa kaa rog sagal mitt jaae |3|
- all his diseases are eradicated. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ (ਮਾਨਸਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
kar kirapaa paarabraham deaal |
Take pity on me, O merciful, Supreme Lord God
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ।
ਮਨ ਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ॥
man te kabahu na bisar guopaal |
let me never forget the Lord of the World from my mind.
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਸਰ।
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਹੋਵਾ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
tere daas kee hovaa dhoor |
Let me be the dust of the feet of Your slaves
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ-
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੩੩॥

O God, please fulfill Nanak's hope. ||4||22||33||

ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥

You are my Protection, O perfect Divine Guru.
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਗੁਣ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tudh bin doojaa naahee koe |
There is no other than You.
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਸਹਾਈ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ)।
ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
too samarath pooran paarabraham |
You are all-powerful, O perfect Supreme Lord God.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਹੈਂ।
ਸੋ ਧਿਆਏ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ॥੧॥
so dhiaae pooraa jis karam |1|
He alone meditates on You, whose karma is perfect. ||1||
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਤਰਣ ਤਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਉ ॥
taran taaran prabh tero naau |
You Name, God, is the boat to carry us across.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਏਕਾ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ekaa saran gahee man merai tudh bin doojaa naahee tthaau |1| rahaau |
My mind has grasped Your protection alone. Other than You, I have no place of rest at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਆਸਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ) ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
jap jap jeevaa teraa naau |
Chanting, meditating on Your Name, I live,
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਇਥੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਉ ਠਾਉ ॥
aagai daragah paavau tthaau |
and hereafter, I will obtain a seat in the Court of the Lord.
ਅਗਾਂਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ (ਟਿਕਣ ਜੋਗਾ) ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂਗਾ।
ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ॥
dookh andheraa man te jaae |
Pain and darkness are gone from my mind
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਰਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੨॥
duramat binasai raachai har naae |2|
my evil-mindedness is dispelled, and I am absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||2||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥

I have enshrined love for the Lord's lotus feet.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਣਾ-
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥

The lifestyle of the Perfect Guru is immaculate and pure.
(ਇਹੋ ਹੀ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ॥
bhau bhaagaa nirbhau man basai |
My fear has run away, and the fearless Lord dwells within my mind.
ਡਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਜਪੈ ॥੩॥
amrit naam rasanaa nit japai |3|
My tongue continually chants the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਿੱਤ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਫਾਹੇ ॥
kott janam ke kaatte faahe |
The nooses of millions of incarnations are cut away.
(ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਾਇਆ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਲਾਹੇ ॥
paaeaa laabh sachaa dhan laahe |
I have obtained the profit of the true wealth.
(ਜੀਵ ਇਥੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ-ਨਫ਼ਾ ਖੱਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
tott na aavai akhutt bhanddaar |
This treasure is inexhaustible it will never run out.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ) ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ (ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੩੪॥

O Nanak, the devotees look beautiful in the Court of the Lord. ||4||23||34||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੩੪॥

ਰਤਨ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨਾਮ ॥

The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is a jewel, a ruby.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਰਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਹਰਾਤ ਹਨ,
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਗਿਆਨ ॥
sat santokh giaan |
It brings Truth, contentment and spiritual wisdom.
ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਤ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਨ।
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੋਤਾ ॥
sookh sehaj deaa kaa potaa |
The Lord entrusts the treasures of peace,
ਉਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸੁਖ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਹਵਾਲੈ ਹੋਤਾ ॥੧॥
har bhagataa havaalai hotaa |1|
Intuition and kindness to His devotees. ||1||
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਪੁਰਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
mere raam ko bhanddaar |
This is the treasure of my Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ)
ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਿ ਕਛੁ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khaat kharach kachh tott na aavai ant nahee har paaraavaar |1| rahaau |
Consuming and expending it, it is never used up. The Lord has no end or limitation. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪ ਵਰਤਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕ ਹੀਰਾ ॥

The Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is a priceless diamond.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਕੀਰਤਨ ਇਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀਰਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਨੰਦ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥

It is the ocean of bliss and virtue.
(ਉਸ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ॥

In the Word of the Guru's Bani is the wealth of the unstruck sound current.
(ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ) ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਰੌ (ਉਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲਈ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਤਨ ਹਥਿ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੂੰਜੀ ॥੨॥
santan hath raakhee koonjee |2|
The Saints hold the key to it in their hands. ||2||
(ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ) ਕੁੰਜੀ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
