ਮਨਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਵਨ ਸਿਧਿ ਥਾਪੀ ॥੧॥
maneh maar kavan sidh thaapee |1|
Who has established himself as a Siddha, a being of miraculous spiritual powers, by killing his mind? ||1||
(ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਕੋਈ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ) ॥੧॥
ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਮੁਨਿ ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
kavan su mun jo man maarai |
Who is that silent sage, who has killed his mind?
ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮੁਨੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man kau maar kahahu kis taarai |1| rahaau |
By killing the mind, tell me, who is saved? ||1||Pause||
ਦੱਸੋ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
man antar bolai sabh koee |
Everyone speaks through the mind.
ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਚੰਗੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਮਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
ਮਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
man maare bin bhagat na hoee |2|
Without killing the mind, devotional worship is not performed. ||2||
ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੋੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਭਗਤੀ (ਭੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
kahu kabeer jo jaanai bheo |
Says Kabeer, one who knows the secret of this mystery,
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਰਮਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨੁ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਦੇਉ ॥੩॥੨੮॥
man madhusoodan tribhavan deo |3|28|
beholds within his own mind the Lord of the three worlds. ||3||28||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੨੮॥

ਓਇ ਜੁ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਅੰਬਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥

The stars which are seen in the sky
ਉਹ ਤਾਰੇ ਜੋ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
ਕਿਨਿ ਓਇ ਚੀਤੇ ਚੀਤਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
kin oe cheete cheetanahaare |1|
- who is the painter who painted them? ||1||
ਕਿਸ ਚਿੱਤ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਚਿੱਤਰੇ ਹਨ? ॥੧॥
ਕਹੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਅੰਬਰੁ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
kahu re panddit anbar kaa siau laagaa |
Tell me, O Pandit, what is the sky attached to?
ਦੱਸ, ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਹੈ?
ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਨਹਾਰੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Very fortunate is the knower who knows this. ||1||Pause||
ਕੋਈ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ (ਰਮਜ਼ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੂਰਜ ਚੰਦੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
sooraj chand kareh ujeeaaraa |
The sun and the moon give their light
(ਇਹ ਜੋ) ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
sabh meh pasariaa braham pasaaraa |2|
God's creative extension extends everywhere. ||2||
(ਇਹਨਾਂ) ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ (ਹੀ) ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਖਿਲਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਾਨੈਗਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
kahu kabeer jaanaigaa soe |
Says Kabeer, he alone knows this,
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਓਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝੇਗਾ,
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮੈ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥੨੯॥
hiradai raam mukh raamai hoe |3|29|
whose heart is filled with the Lord, and whose mouth is also filled with the Lord. ||3||29||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ (ਭੀ) ਕੇਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥੨੯॥

ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
bed kee putree sinmrit bhaaee |
The Simritee is the daughter of the Vedas, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਇਹ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਬਣੀ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਂਕਲ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਲੈ ਹੈ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
saankal jevaree lai hai aaee |1|
She has brought a chain and a rope. ||1||
(ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵਰਨ ਆਸ਼ਰਮ ਦੇ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸੰਗਲ ਤੇ (ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਦੀਆਂ) ਰੱਸੀਆਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਆਪਨ ਨਗਰੁ ਆਪ ਤੇ ਬਾਧਿਆ ॥
aapan nagar aap te baadhiaa |
She has imprisoned the people in her own city.
(ਇਸ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਕੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ,
ਮੋਹ ਕੈ ਫਾਧਿ ਕਾਲ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਂਧਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
moh kai faadh kaal sar saandhiaa |1| rahaau |
She has tightened the noose of emotional attachment and shot the arrow of death. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰਗ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ) ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾ ਕੇ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ) ਮੌਤ (ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ) ਦਾ ਤੀਰ (ਇਸ ਨੇ) ਖਿੱਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਟੀ ਨ ਕਟੈ ਤੂਟਿ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
kattee na kattai toott neh jaaee |
By cutting, she cannot be cut, and she cannot be broken.
(ਇਹ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ-ਰੂਪ ਫਾਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਵੱਢਿਆਂ ਵੱਢੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ) ਇਹ ਟੁੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾ ਸਾਪਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
saa saapan hoe jag kau khaaee |2|
She has become a serpent, and she is eating the world. ||2||
(ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ) ਇਹ ਸੱਪਣੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਹਮ ਦੇਖਤ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਲੂਟਿਆ ॥
ham dekhat jin sabh jag loottiaa |
Before my very eyes, she has plundered the entire world.
ਅਸਾਡੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ (ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ) ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੈ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਛੂਟਿਆ ॥੩॥੩੦॥

Says Kabeer, chanting the Lord's Name, I have escaped her. ||3||30||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥੩੦॥

ਦੇਇ ਮੁਹਾਰ ਲਗਾਮੁ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਉ ॥
dee muhaar lagaam pahiraavau |
I have grasped the reins and attached the bridle
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ-ਰੂਪ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ) ਪੂਜੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਦੀ) ਲਗਾਮ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਸਗਲ ਤ ਜੀਨੁ ਗਗਨ ਦਉਰਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
sagal ta jeen gagan dauraavau |1|
abandoning everything, I now ride through the skies. ||1||
ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਜਾਣਨਾ-ਇਹ ਕਾਠੀ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਦੀ ਉਡਾਰੀ ਲਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ॥੧॥
ਅਪਨੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
apanai beechaar asavaaree keejai |
I made self-reflection my mount,
(ਆਓ, ਭਾਈ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਰੂਪ ਘੋੜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਅਸਾਡਾ ਅਸਲਾ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਘੋੜਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋਵੀਏ
ਸਹਜ ਕੈ ਪਾਵੜੈ ਪਗੁ ਧਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sehaj kai paavarrai pag dhar leejai |1| rahaau |
and in the stirrups of intuitive poise, I placed my feet. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਚੇਤਾ ਰੱਖੀਏ), ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਕਲ-ਰੂਪ ਪੈਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਜ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਰਕਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਰੱਖੀਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਚਲੁ ਰੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਲੇ ਤਾਰਉ ॥
chal re baikuntth tujheh le taarau |
Come, and let me ride you to heaven.
ਚੱਲ, ਹੇ (ਮਨ-ਰੂਪ ਘੋੜੇ)! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਦੇ ਸੈਰ ਕਰਾਵਾਂ
ਹਿਚਹਿ ਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਬੁਕ ਮਾਰਉ ॥੨॥
hicheh ta prem kai chaabuk maarau |2|
If you hold back, then I shall strike you with the whip of spiritual love. ||2||
ਜੇ ਅੜੀ ਕੀਤੀਓਈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਚਾਬਕ ਮਾਰਾਂਗਾ ॥੨॥
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਲੇ ਅਸਵਾਰਾ ॥
kehat kabeer bhale asavaaraa |
Says Kabeer, those who remain detached from the
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ) ਸਿਆਣੇ ਅਸਵਾਰ (ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ),
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਤੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੩੧॥
bed kateb te raheh niraaraa |3|31|
Vedas, the Koran and the Bible are the best riders. ||3||31||
ਵੇਦਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਤੇਬਾਂ (ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਆਖਣ ਦੇ ਝਗੜੇ) ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥੩੧॥

Gauree, Kabeer Jee:
ਜਿਹ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਂਚਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਖਾਏ ॥
jih mukh paanchau amrit khaae |
That mouth, which used to eat the five delicacies
ਜਿਸ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖਾਈਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਹ ਮੁਖ ਦੇਖਤ ਲੂਕਟ ਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
tih mukh dekhat lookatt laae |1|
- I have seen the flames being applied to that mouth. ||1||
(ਮਰਨ ਤੇ) ਉਸ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੀ ਚੁਆਤੀ (ਬਾਲ ਕੇ) ਲਾ ਦੇਈਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਇਕੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
eik dukh raam raae kaattahu meraa |
O Lord, my King, please rid me of this one affliction:
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੇਰਾ ਇਕ ਇਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ,
ਅਗਨਿ ਦਹੈ ਅਰੁ ਗਰਭ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
agan dahai ar garabh baseraa |1| rahaau |
may I not be burned in fire, or cast into the womb again. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹ ਜੋ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਸਾੜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਗਰਭ ਦਾ ਵਾਸ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹ ਜੋ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਇਆ ਬਿਗੂਤੀ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਤੀ ॥
kaaeaa bigootee bahu bidh bhaatee |
The body is destroyed by so many ways and means.
(ਮਰਨ ਪਿਛੋਂ) ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕੋ ਜਾਰੇ ਕੋ ਗਡਿ ਲੇ ਮਾਟੀ ॥੨॥
ko jaare ko gadd le maattee |2|
Some burn it, and some bury it in the earth. ||2||
ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਦੱਬ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਦਿਖਾਵਹੁ ॥
kahu kabeer har charan dikhaavahu |
Says Kabeer, O Lord, please reveal to me Your Lotus Feet
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਹ।
ਪਾਛੈ ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ॥੩॥੩੨॥
paachhai te jam kiau na patthaavahu |3|32|
after that, go ahead and send me to my death. ||3||32||
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਜਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ) ਘੱਲ ਦੇਵੀਂ ॥੩॥੩੨॥

ਆਪੇ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਵਨਾ ॥
aape paavak aape pavanaa |
He Himself is the fire, and He Himself is the wind.
ਖਸਮ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਅੱਗ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਵਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਾਰੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਤ ਰਾਖੈ ਕਵਨਾ ॥੧॥
jaarai khasam ta raakhai kavanaa |1|
When our Lord and Master wishes to burn someone, then who can save him? ||1||
ਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾੜਨ ਲੱਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕੌਣ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਤਨੁ ਜਰਿ ਕੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

When I chant the Lord's Name, what does it matter if my body burns?
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਭੀ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ (ਉਹ ਰਤਾ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ)
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਚਿਤੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

My consciousness remains absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾ ਕੋ ਜਰੈ ਕਾਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਨਿ ॥
kaa ko jarai kaeh hoe haan |
Who is burned, and who suffers loss?
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਸੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਨਟ ਵਟ ਖੇਲੈ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨਿ ॥੨॥

The Lord plays, like the juggler with his ball. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ) ਨਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇਸਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਖੇਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਸਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਖਰ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਖਿ ॥

Says Kabeer, chant the two letters of the Lord's Name - Raa Maa.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ) ਇਹ ਨਿੱਕੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ,
ਹੋਇਗਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਤ ਲੇਇਗਾ ਰਾਖਿ ॥੩॥੩੩॥
hoeigaa khasam ta leeigaa raakh |3|33|
If He is your Lord and Master, He will protect you. ||3||33||
ਕਿ ਜੇ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ (ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਲੋੜ ਪਏਗੀ, ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਬਚਾ ਲਏਗਾ ॥੩॥੩੩॥
ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੁਪਦੇ ॥

Gauree, Kabeer Jee, Dho-Padhay:
ਨਾ ਮੈ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
naa mai jog dhiaan chit laaeaa |
I have not practiced Yoga, or focused my consciousness on meditation.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋਗ (ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਧਿਆਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ) ਦਾ ਗਹੁ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਨ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
bin bairaag na chhoottas maaeaa |1|
Without renunciation, I cannot escape Maya. ||1||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ) ਵੈਰਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਕੈਸੇ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥

How have I passed my life?
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਹੀ) ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ,
