ਰੂਪਵੰਤੁ ਸੋ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
roopavant so chatur siaanaa |
They alone are handsome, clever and wise,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਤੀਖਣ ਬੁੱਧਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
jin jan maaniaa prabh kaa bhaanaa |2|
who surrender to the Will of God. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
jag meh aaeaa so paravaan |
Blessed is their coming into this world,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ।
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
ghatt ghatt apanaa suaamee jaan |3|
if they recognize their Lord and Master in each and every heart. ||3||
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ॥
kahu naanak jaa ke pooran bhaag |
Says Nanak, their good fortune is perfect,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗ ॥੪॥੯੦॥੧੫੯॥
har charanee taa kaa man laag |4|90|159|
if they enshrine the Lord's Feet within their minds. ||4||90||159||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯੦॥੧੫੯॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਿਉ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
har ke daas siau saakat nahee sang |
The Lord's servant does not associate with the faithless cynic.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਓਹੁ ਬਿਖਈ ਓਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ohu bikhee os raam ko rang |1| rahaau |
One is in the clutches of vice, while the other is in love with the Lord. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਸਾਕਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਭਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਨ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਜੈਸੇ ਤੁਰੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ॥
man asavaar jaise turee seegaaree |
It would be like an imaginary rider on a decorated horse,
(ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਨਾੜੀ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਕ ਸਜਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਘੋੜੀ ਹੋਵੇ,
ਜਿਉ ਕਾਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੁਚਾਰੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
jiau kaapurakh puchaarai naaree |1|
or a eunuch caressing a woman. ||1||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਖੁਸਰਾ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਬੈਲ ਕਉ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾ ਪਾਇ ਦੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
bail kau netraa paae duhaavai |
It would be like tying up an ox and trying to milk it,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਆਣਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਬਲਦ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ,
ਗਊ ਚਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
gaoo char singh paachhai paavai |2|
or riding a cow to chase a tiger. ||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦੁੜਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ॥੨॥
ਗਾਡਰ ਲੇ ਕਾਮਧੇਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ॥
gaaddar le kaamadhen kar poojee |
It would be like taking a sheep and worshipping it as the Elysian cow,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਜੋੜ ਇਉਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੇਡ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮਧੇਨ ਮਿਥ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ,
ਸਉਦੇ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ॥੩॥
saude kau dhaavai bin poonjee |3|
the giver of all blessings it would be like going out shopping without any money. ||3||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਰਮਾਏ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਸੌਦਾ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਣ ਉੱਠ ਦੌੜੇ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਚੀਤ ॥
naanak raam naam jap cheet |
O Nanak, consciously meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰ,
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਾ ਮੀਤ ॥੪॥੯੧॥੧੬੦॥
simar suaamee har saa meet |4|91|160|
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord Master, your Best Friend. ||4||91||160||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੪॥੯੧॥੧੬੦॥

ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਧੀਰ ॥
saa mat niramal kaheeat dheer |
Pure and steady is that intellect,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਅਕਲ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਧੀਰਜ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਪੀਵਤ ਬੀਰ ॥੧॥
raam rasaaein peevat beer |1|
which drinks in the Lord's sublime essence. ||1||
(ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਰਿ ਓਟ ॥
har ke charan hiradai kar ott |
Keep the Support of the Lord's Feet in your heart,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾ,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਹੋਵਤ ਛੋਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
janam maran te hovat chhott |1| rahaau |
and you shall be saved from the cycle of birth and death. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਉਂ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਨ ਪਾਪੁ ॥
so tan niramal jit upajai na paap |
Pure is that body, in which sin does not arise.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੨॥

In the Love of the Lord is pure glory. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪਰਤਾਪ (ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
saadhasang mitt jaat bikaar |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, corruption is eradicated.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਏਹੋ ਉਪਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
sabh te aooch eho upakaar |3|
This is the greatest blessing of all. ||3||
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦਾ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਇਹੀ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥

Imbued with loving devotional worship of the Sustainer of the Universe,
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਚੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੪॥੯੨॥੧੬੧॥
naanak jaachai saadh ravaal |4|92|161|
Nanak asks for the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||92||161||
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯੨॥੧੬੧॥

Such is my love for the Lord of the Universe
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ (ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਇਥੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mel le pooran vaddabhaagee |1| rahaau |
through perfect good destiny, I have been united with Him. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਭਰਤਾ ਪੇਖਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
bharataa pekh bigasai jiau naaree |
As the wife is delighted upon beholding her husband,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
tiau har jan jeevai naam chitaaree |1|
so does the Lord's humble servant live by chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਪੂਤ ਪੇਖਿ ਜਿਉ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
poot pekh jiau jeevat maataa |
As the mother is rejuvenated upon seeing her son,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜੀਊਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੨॥
ot pot jan har siau raataa |2|
so is the Lord's humble servant imbued with Him, through and through. ||2||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਦੇ ਸੂਤਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਰੱਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਲੋਭੀ ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰੈ ਪੇਖਿ ਧਨਾ ॥
lobhee anad karai pekh dhanaa |
As the greedy man rejoices upon beholding his wealth,
(ਜਿਵੇਂ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਲਾਲਚੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਨ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਮਨਾ ॥੩॥
jan charan kamal siau laago manaa |3|
so is the mind of the Lord's humble servant attached to His Lotus Feet. ||3||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਪਟਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥
bisar nahee ik til daataar |
May I never forget You, for even an instant, O Great Giver!
ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਇਕ ਰਤਾ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਸਮਾ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੪॥੯੩॥੧੬੨॥
naanak ke prabh praan adhaar |4|93|162|
Nanak's God is the Support of his breath of life. ||4||93||162||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲੇਂ)! ॥੪॥੯੩॥੧੬੨॥

ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਗੀਧੇ ॥
raam rasaaein jo jan geedhe |
Those humble beings who are accustomed to the Lord's sublime essence,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤੀ ਬੀਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
charan kamal prem bhagatee beedhe |1| rahaau |
are pierced through with loving devotional worship of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿੱਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੌਰਾ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਆਨ ਰਸਾ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
aan rasaa deeseh sabh chhaar |
All other pleasures look like ashes
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਸੁਆਹ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੧॥
naam binaa nihafal sansaar |1|
without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the world is fruitless. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੇ ਆਪਿ ॥
andh koop te kaadte aap |
He Himself rescues us from the deep dark well.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਅਚਰਜ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥

Wondrous and Glorious are the Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਵਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥

In the woods and meadows, and throughout the three worlds, the Sustainer of the Universe is pervading.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਣ ਵਿਚ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਤਿੰਨ-ਭਵਨੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰੁ ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੩॥

The Expansive Lord God is Merciful to all beings. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਕਥਨੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੰਭਾਲ,
ਮਾਨਿ ਲੇਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੯੪॥੧੬੩॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਝੋਲਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਉਦਕੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ॥

The water of the Name of the Lord of the Universe is immaculate and pure.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜਲ ਹੈ,
ਮਜਨੁ ਕਰਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥

Take your cleansing bath in it, and all your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||
(ਇਸ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਸਭ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥
