ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
janam janam kaa rog gavaaeaa |
is rid of the illnesses of countless lifetimes and incarnations.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ (ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਦਾ ਰੋਗ (ਉਸ ਦਵਾਈ ਨਾਲ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਫਲ ਏਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har keeratan gaavahu din raatee safal ehaa hai kaaree jeeo |3|
So sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, day and night. This is the most fruitful occupation. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰ ਲਾਭ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥
drisatt dhaar apanaa daas savaariaa |
Bestowing His Glance of Grace, He has adorned His slave.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇਵਕ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar paarabraham namasakaariaa |
Deep within each and every heart, the Supreme Lord is humbly worshipped.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਅੱਗੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਇਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰੇਕ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਵਰਤਾਵ ਕੀਤਾ)।
ਇਕਸੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੪੬॥
eikas vin hor doojaa naahee baabaa naanak ih mat saaree jeeo |4|39|46|
Without the One, there is no other at all. O Baba Nanak, this is the most excellent wisdom. ||4||39||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ-ਇਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੂਝ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੪੬॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
man tan rataa raam piaare |
My mind and body are imbued with love for the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ) ਮਨ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹੇ,
ਸਰਬਸੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਪਨਾ ਵਾਰੇ ॥
sarabas deejai apanaa vaare |
I sacrifice everything for Him.
(ਤਾਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਛ ਸਦਕੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ) ਦੇ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
aatth pehar govind gun gaaeeai bisar na koee saasaa jeeo |1|
Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. Do not forget Him, for even one breath. ||1||
ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹ (ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਹ ਭੁਲਾ ॥੧॥
ਸੋਈ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
soee saajan meet piaaraa |
He is a companion, a friend, and a beloved of mine,
ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
raam naam saadhasang beechaaraa |
who reflects upon the Lord's Name, in the Company of the Holy.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੀਜੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
saadhoo sang tareejai saagar katteeai jam kee faasaa jeeo |2|
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, cross over the world-ocean, and the noose of death shall be cut away. ||2||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਿਹਾਂ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
chaar padaarath har kee sevaa |
The four cardinal blessings are obtained by serving the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਹੀ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿਧ) ਚਾਰ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਨ।
ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਜਪਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥
paarajaat jap alakh abhevaa |
The Elysian Tree, the source of all blessings, is meditation on the Unseen and Unknowable Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਅਲੱਖ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਇਹੀ ਪਾਰਜਾਤ (-ਰੁੱਖ ਮਨੋਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ।
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
kaam krodh kilabikh gur kaatte pooran hoee aasaa jeeo |3|
The Guru has cut out the sinful mistakes of sexual desire and anger, and my hopes have been fulfilled. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਾਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੩॥
ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ਭਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
pooran bhaag bhe jis praanee |
That mortal who is blessed by perfect destiny meets the Lord,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਣ,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
saadhasang mile saarangapaanee |
The Sustainer of the Universe, in the Company of the Holy.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੪੭॥
naanak naam vasiaa jis antar paravaan girasat udaasaa jeeo |4|40|47|
O Nanak, if the Naam, the Name of the Lord, dwells within the mind, one is approved and accepted, whether he is a house-holder or a renunciate. ||4||40||47||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਘਰ-ਬਾਰੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪੦॥੪੭॥

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
simarat naam ridai sukh paaeaa |
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, my heart is filled with peace.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਗਤੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa bhagatanee pragattaaeaa |
By His Grace, His devotees become famous and acclaimed.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਆਲਸ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
santasang mil har har japiaa binase aalas rogaa jeeo |1|
Joining the Society of the Saints, I chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har the disease of laziness has disappeared. ||1||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਲਸ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੧॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
jaa kai grihi nav nidh har bhaaee |
O Siblings of Destiny, the nine treasures are found in the Home of the Lord
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਕਮਾਈ ॥
tis miliaa jis purab kamaaee |
He comes to meet those who deserve it by their past actions.
ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
giaan dhiaan pooran paramesur prabh sabhanaa galaa jogaa jeeo |2|
The Perfect Transcendent Lord is spiritual wisdom and meditation. God is All-powerful to do all things. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
khin meh thaap uthaapanahaaraa |
In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ) ਰਚ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਇਕੰਤੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
aap ikantee aap pasaaraa |
He Himself is the One, and He Himself is the Many.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਨਿਰਗੁਣ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਇਕੱਲਾ (ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ) ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲੇਪੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਡਿਠੇ ਲਹਨਿ ਵਿਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
lep nahee jagajeevan daate darasan dditthe lehan vijogaa jeeo |3|
Filth does not stick to the Giver, the Life of the World. Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, the pain of separation departs. ||3||
ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ, ਜਗਤ-ਦੇ-ਜੀਵਨ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੩॥
ਅੰਚਲਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਤਰਾਈ ॥
anchal laae sabh sisatt taraaee |
Holding on to the hem of His Robe, the entire Universe is saved.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਈ ॥
aapanaa naau aap japaaee |
He Himself causes His Name to be chanted.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਜਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੪੮॥
gur bohith paaeaa kirapaa te naanak dhur sanjogaa jeeo |4|41|48|
The Boat of the Guru is found by His Grace O Nanak, such blessed destiny is pre-ordained. ||4||41||48||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਧੁਰ-ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਸਬਬ ਬਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ-ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪੧॥੪੮॥

ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
soee karanaa ji aap karaae |
People do whatever the Lord inspires them to do.
(ਜੀਵ) ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਥੈ ਰਖੈ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
jithai rakhai saa bhalee jaae |
Wherever He keeps us is a good place.
(ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਥਾਂ (ਜੀਵ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਚੰਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸੋ ਪਤਿਵੰਤਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
soee siaanaa so pativantaa hukam lagai jis meetthaa jeeo |1|
That person is clever and honorable, unto whom the Hukam of the Lord's Command seems sweet. ||1||
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਕਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਭ ਪਰੋਈ ਇਕਤੁ ਧਾਗੈ ॥
sabh paroee ikat dhaagai |
Everything is strung upon the One String of the Lord.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ (ਹੁਕਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
jis laae le so charanee laagai |
Those whom the Lord attaches, are attached to His Feet.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ) ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਊਂਧ ਕਵਲੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
aoondh kaval jis hoe pragaasaa tin sarab niranjan ddeetthaa jeeo |2|
Those, whose inverted lotus of the crown chakra is illuminated, see the Immaculate Lord everywhere. ||2||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਲਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪ) ਖਿੜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥

Only You Yourself know Your Glory.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਤਨਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਅਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
apanaa aap toon aap pachhaaneh |
You Yourself recognize Your Own Self.
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਪੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
hau balihaaree santan tere jin kaam krodh lobh peetthaa jeeo |3|
I am a sacrifice to Your Saints, who have crushed their sexual desire, anger and greed. ||3||
ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਸੰਤ ਨੇ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਭ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ॥
toon niravair sant tere niramal |
You have no hatred or vengeance Your Saints are immaculate and pure.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੀ (ਵੈਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਨ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਕਲਮਲ ॥
jin dekhe sabh utareh kalamal |
Seeing them, all sins depart.
ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵੈ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਧੀਠਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੪੯॥
naanak naam dhiaae dhiaae jeevai binasiaa bhram bhau dheetthaa jeeo |4|42|49|
Nanak lives by meditating, meditating on the Naam. His stubborn doubt and fear have departed. ||4||42||49||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਮੋਲ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੪੨॥੪੯॥
