ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥

The Life of the World, the Sustainer of the Earth, has showered His Mercy
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ,
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਵਸੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
gur ke charan vase man maahee |
the Guru's Feet have come to dwell within my mind.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ।
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
angeekaar keea tin karatai dukh kaa dderaa dtaahiaa jeeo |1|
The Creator has made me His Own. He has destroyed the city of sorrow. ||1||
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਉਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ (ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਅੱਡਾ ਹੀ ਚੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
man tan vasiaa sachaa soee |
The True One abides within my mind and body
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ,
ਬਿਖੜਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
bikharraa thaan na disai koee |
no place seems difficult to me now.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਔਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ।
ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਮਣ ਸਭਿ ਸਜਣ ਹੋਏ ਏਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
doot dusaman sabh sajan hoe eko suaamee aahiaa jeeo |2|
All the evil-doers and enemies have now become my friends. I long only for my Lord and Master. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੋਖੀ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥
jo kichh kare su aape aapai |
Whatever He does, He does all by Himself.
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
budh siaanap kichhoo na jaapai |
No one can know His Ways.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ) ਅਕਲ ਜਾਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ (ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ।
ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਲਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
aapaniaa santaa no aap sahaaee prabh bharam bhulaavaa laahiaa jeeo |3|
He Himself is the Helper and Support of His Saints. God has cast out my doubts and delusions. ||3||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਸਹਾਈ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
charan kamal jan kaa aadhaaro |
His Lotus Feet are the Support of His humble servants.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ॥
aatth pehar raam naam vaapaaro |
Twenty-four hours a day, they deal in the Name of the Lord.
ਸੇਵਕ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਣਜਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੩॥
sehaj anand gaaveh gun govind prabh naanak sarab samaahiaa jeeo |4|36|43|
In peace and pleasure, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. O Nanak, God is permeating everywhere. ||4||36||43||
ਸੇਵਕ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ (ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਦਾ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੩॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
so sach mandar jit sach dhiaaeeai |
True is that temple, within which one meditates on the True Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਰਿਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
so ridaa suhelaa jit har gun gaaeeai |
Blessed is that heart, within which the Lord's Glorious Praises are sung.
ਉਹ ਹਿਰਦਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਖੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਜਾਣ।
ਸਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
saa dharat suhaavee jit vaseh har jan sache naam vittahu kurabaano jeeo |1|
Beautiful is that land, where the Lord's humble servants dwell. I am a sacrifice to the True Name. ||1||
ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਸਚੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
sach vaddaaee keem na paaee |
The extent of the True Lord's Greatness cannot be known.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ)।
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
kudarat karam na kahanaa jaaee |
His Creative Power and His Bounties cannot be described.
ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhiaae dhiaae jeeveh jan tere sach sabad man maano jeeo |2|
Your humble servants live by meditating, meditating on You. Their minds treasure the True Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sach saalaahan vaddabhaagee paaeeai |
The Praises of the True One are obtained by great good fortune.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
gur parasaadee har gun gaaeeai |
By Guru's Grace, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
rang rate terai tudh bhaaveh sach naam neesaano jeeo |3|
Those who are imbued with Your Love are pleasing to You. The True Name is their Banner and Insignia. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਚੇ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
sache ant na jaanai koee |
No one knows the limits of the True Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਥਾਨਿ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
thaan thanantar sachaa soee |
In all places and interspaces, the True One is pervading.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੪॥
naanak sach dhiaaeeai sad hee antarajaamee jaano jeeo |4|37|44|
O Nanak, meditate forever on the True One, the Searcher of hearts, the Knower of all. ||4||37||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੪॥

ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
rain suhaavarree dinas suhelaa |
Beautiful is the night, and beautiful is the day,
ਰਾਤ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ, ਦਿਨ ਭੀ ਸੌਖਾ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
jap amrit naam santasang melaa |
when one joins the Society of the Saints and chants the Ambrosial Naam.
(ਜੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਲ (ਹੋ ਜਾਏ। ਉਥੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ -
ਘੜੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਲ ਵੰਞਹਿ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਿਥਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gharree moorat simarat pal vanyeh jeevan safal tithaaee jeeo |1|
If you remember the Lord in meditation for a moment, even for an instant, then your life will become fruitful and prosperous. ||1||
ਉਮਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਪਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਬੀਤਣ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ (ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ) ਸਫਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੋਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
simarat naam dokh sabh laathe |
Remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all sinful mistakes are erased.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
antar baahar har prabh saathe |
Inwardly and outwardly, the Lord God is always with us.
ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਾਲ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭੈ ਭਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
bhai bhau bharam khoeaa gur poorai dekhaa sabhanee jaaee jeeo |2|
Fear, dread and doubt have been dispelled by the Perfect Guru now, I see God everywhere. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਅਦਬ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਡਰ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਡ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
prabh samarath vadd aooch apaaraa |
God is All-powerful, Vast, Lofty and Infinite.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ।
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
nau nidh naam bhare bhanddaaraa |
The Naam is overflowing with the nine treasures.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
aad ant madh prabh soee doojaa lavai na laaee jeeo |3|
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, there is God. Nothing else even comes close to Him. ||3||
(ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਸੀ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ (ਹੁਣ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚਨਾ ਦੇ) ਮੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
kar kirapaa mere deen deaalaa |
Take pity on me, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ।
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥
jaachik jaachai saadh ravaalaa |
I am a beggar, begging for the dust of the feet of the Holy.
(ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ) ਮੰਗਤਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੫॥
dehi daan naanak jan maagai sadaa sadaa har dhiaaee jeeo |4|38|45|
Servant Nanak begs for this gift: let me meditate on the Lord, forever and ever. ||4||38||45||
(ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਥੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹ) ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹਿ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੫॥

ਐਥੈ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਆਗੈ ਆਪੇ ॥

You are here, and You are hereafter.
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਥਾਪੇ ॥
jeea jantr sabh tere thaape |
All beings and creatures were created by You.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਹਨ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਤੇ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tudh bin avar na koee karate mai dhar ott tumaaree jeeo |1|
Without You, there is no other, O Creator. You are my Support and my Protection. ||1||
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਸਹਾਈ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ), ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
rasanaa jap jap jeevai suaamee |
The tongue lives by chanting and meditating on the Lord's Name.
(ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

The Supreme Lord God is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
jin seviaa tin hee sukh paaeaa so janam na jooai haaree jeeo |2|
Those who serve the Lord find peace they do not lose their lives in the gamble. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਉੇਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਜੁਆਰੀਆ ਜੂਏ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

Your humble servant, who obtains the Medicine of the Naam,
