ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗਗਨ ਮੈ ਥਾਲੁ ਰਵਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਪਕ ਬਨੇ ਤਾਰਿਕਾ ਮੰਡਲ ਜਨਕ ਮੋਤੀ ॥

In the bowl of the sky, the sun and moon are the lamps; the stars in the constellations are the pearls.
ਸਾਰਾ ਆਕਾਸ਼ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਥਾਲ ਹੈ, ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ (ਇਸ ਥਾਲ ਵਿਚ) ਦੀਵੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ, (ਥਾਲ ਵਿਚ) ਮੋਤੀ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਧੂਪੁ ਮਲਆਨਲੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਚਵਰੋ ਕਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਬਨਰਾਇ ਫੂਲੰਤ ਜੋਤੀ ॥੧॥

The fragrance of sandalwood is the incense, the wind is the fan, and all the vegetation are flowers in offering to You, O Luminous Lord. ||1||
ਮਲਯ ਪਰਬਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹਵਾ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਧੂਪ (ਧੁਖ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ, ਹਵਾ ਚੌਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ-ਰੂਪ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ) ਲਈ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕੈਸੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ॥

What a beautiful lamp-lit worship service this is! O Destroyer of fear, this is Your Aartee, Your worship service.
ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! (ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਤੇਰੀ ਕੈਸੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ!
ਅਨਹਤਾ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੰਤ ਭੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

(ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਮਕ ਰਹੀ) ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰੌ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਨੈਨ ਨਨ ਨੈਨ ਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਉ ਸਹਸ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੋਹੀ ॥
sehas tav nain. nan nain hai tohi kau sehas moorat. nanaa ek tohee |
Thousands are Your eyes, and yet You have no eyes. Thousands are Your forms, and yet You have not even one form.
(ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹਨ (ਪਰ, ਨਿਰਾਕਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਸ ਪਦ ਬਿਮਲ ਨਨ ਏਕ ਪਦ ਗੰਧ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਗੰਧ ਇਵ ਚਲਤ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੨॥
sehas pad bimal. nan ek pad gandh bin. sehas tav gandh iv chalat mohee |2|
Thousands are Your lotus feet, and yet You have no feet. Without a nose, thousands are Your noses. I am enchanted with Your play! ||2||
ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਹਨ, ਪਰ (ਨਿਰਾਕਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਤੇਰਾ ਇੱਕ ਭੀ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੱਕ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਨੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੇ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

The Divine Light is within everyone; You are that Light.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਰਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਚਾਨਣਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

Yours is that Light which shines within everyone.
ਉਸ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੇ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਨਣ (ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ) ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

By the Guru's Teachings, this Divine Light is revealed.
ਪਰ ਇਸ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ)।
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥

That which pleases the Lord is the true worship service. ||3||
(ਇਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੀ) ਆਰਤੀ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ) ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਲੋਭਿਤ ਮਨੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਹੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥

My soul is enticed by the honey-sweet lotus feet of the Lord; night and day, I thirst for them.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨ-ਰੂਪ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਲਲਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸੇ ਰਸ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੯॥
kripaa jal dehi. naanak saaring kau hoe jaa te. terai naam vaasaa |4|1|7|9|
Bless Nanak, the thirsty song-bird, with the water of Your Mercy, that he may come to dwell in Your Name. ||4||1||7||9||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦਾ ਜਲ ਦੇਹ, ਜਿਸ (ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ) ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥੯॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਆਰਤੀ ਮਜਨੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ॥

Your Name, Lord, is my adoration and cleansing bath.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਅੰਞਾਣ ਲੋਕ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਆਰਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਝੂਠੇ ਸਗਲ ਪਾਸਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ke naam bin jhootthe sagal paasaare |1| rahaau |
Without the Name of the Lord, all ostentatious displays are useless. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਕੂੜੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਆਸਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਉਰਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੇਸਰੋ ਲੇ ਛਿਟਕਾਰੇ ॥
naam tero aasano. naam tero urasaa naam teraa kesaro. le chhittakaare |
Your Name is my prayer mat, and Your Name is the stone to grind the sandalwood. Your Name is the saffron which I take and sprinkle in offering to You.
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਵਾਲਾ) ਆਸਨ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਚੰਦਨ ਘਸਾਉਣ ਲਈ) ਸਿਲ ਹੈ, (ਮੂਰਤੀ ਪੂਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੇਸਰ ਘੋਲ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ) ਕੇਸਰ ਛਿੜਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਕੇਸਰ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਭੁਲਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਚੰਦਨੋ ਘਸਿ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਕਉ ਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
naam teraa anbhulaa. naam tero chandano ghas jape. naam le, tujheh kau chaare |1|
Your Name is the water, and Your Name is the sandalwood. The chanting of Your Name is the grinding of the sandalwood. I take it and offer all this to You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਚੰਦਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ) ਘਸਾ ਕੇ, ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਰੂਪ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਬਾਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਤੇਲੁ ਲੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਸਾਰੇ ॥
naam teraa deevaa. naam tero baatee naam tero tel. le maeh pasaare |
Your Name is the lamp, and Your Name is the wick. Your Name is the oil I pour into it.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੀਵਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਦੀਵੇ ਦੀ) ਵੱਟੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤੇਲ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਨਾਮ-ਦੀਵੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ;
ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਲਗਾਈ ਭਇਓ ਉਜਿਆਰੋ ਭਵਨ ਸਗਲਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
naam tere kee jot lagaaee bheo ujiaaro bhavan sagalaare |2|
Your Name is the light applied to this lamp, which enlightens and illuminates the entire world. ||2||
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਾਈ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਤਾਗਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਫੂਲ ਮਾਲਾ ਭਾਰ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਗਲ ਜੂਠਾਰੇ ॥
naam tero taagaa. naam fool maalaa bhaar atthaarah sagal jootthaare |
Your Name is the thread, and Your Name is the garland of flowers. The eighteen loads of vegetation are all too impure to offer to You.
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਂ ਧਾਗਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਫੁੱਲ ਤੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ (ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਫੁੱਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਟ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਜੂਠੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੇਰੋ ਕੀਆ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਅਰਪਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੁਹੀ ਚਵਰ ਢੋਲਾਰੇ ॥੩॥

Why should I offer to You, that which You Yourself created? Your Name is the fan, which I wave over You. ||3||
(ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ) ਤੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੀਹ ਰੱਖਾਂ? (ਸੋ,) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਚੌਰ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਝਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਭਾਵ ਆਰਤੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਕੂੜੇ ਹਨ। ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਦਸ ਅਠਾ ਅਠਸਠੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਖਾਣੀ ਇਹੈ ਵਰਤਣਿ ਹੈ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥

The whole world is engrossed in the eighteen Puraanas, the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, and the four sources of creation.
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ) ਅਠਾਰਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪੁੰਨ-ਕਰਮ ਸਮਝ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਾਰ ਖਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਹੈ ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਆਰਤੀ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਹੇ ਰਾਮ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਦਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਅਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਊਤਮੁ ਦੀਅਰਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਤੀ ॥

Sublime is the lamp, and pure is the wick.
(ਆਰਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਸੋਹਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੀ ਵੱਟੀ ਵੀ-
ਤੁਹੀਂ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਕਮਲਾ ਪਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
tuhanee niranjan kamalaa paatee |2|
You are immaculate and pure, O Brilliant Lord of Wealth! ||2||
ਹੇ ਕਮਲਾਪਤੀ! ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ! ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਰਾਮਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਾਮਾਨੰਦੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

Raamaanand knows the devotional worship of the Lord.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥੩॥

He says that the Lord is all-pervading, the embodiment of supreme joy. ||3||
ਜੋ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮ ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮਦਨ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਭੈ ਤਾਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੇ ॥

The Lord of the world, of wondrous form, has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean.
ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ) ਡਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੈਨੁ ਭਣੈ ਭਜੁ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੇ ॥੪॥੨॥

Says Sain, remember the Lord, the embodiment of supreme joy! ||4||2||

Hear my prayer, Lord; You are the Divine Light of the Divine, the Primal, All-pervading Master.
ਹੇ ਦੇਵ! ਹੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ! ਹੇ ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈਂ, ਸੋ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਨਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ਼ ਰੱਖਣਾ (ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ) ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥੧॥
sidh samaadh ant. nahee paaeaa laag rahe saranaaee |1|
The Siddhas in Samaadhi have not found Your limits. They hold tight to the Protection of Your Sanctuary. ||1||
ਜੋਗ-ਅੱਭਿਆਸ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਪੁੰਨ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ ਉਹ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਲੇਹੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥

Worship and adoration of the Pure, Primal Lord comes by worshipping the True Guru, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰੋ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਉਤਾਰੋ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਠਾਢਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨਿਗਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Standing at His Door, Brahma studies the Vedas, but he cannot see the Unseen Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਚਿਹਨ-ਚੱਕ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵੇਦ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਤੁ ਤੇਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੀਆ ਬਾਤੀ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਦੇਹ ਉਜੵਾਰਾ ॥
tat tel, naam keea baatee deepak deh, ujayaaraa |
With the oil of knowledge about the essence of reality, and the wick of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, this lamp illluminates my body.
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਭੇਤ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਲ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਟੀ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਦੇ) ਚਾਨਣ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਜੋਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਜਗਾਇਆ ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
jot laae jagadees jagaaeaa boojhai boojhanahaaraa |2|
I have applied the Light of the Lord of the Universe, and lit this lamp. God the Knower knows. ||2||
ਇਹ ਦੀਵਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ (ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ਜਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪੰਚੇ ਸਬਦ ਅਨਾਹਦ ਬਾਜੇ ਸੰਗੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਨੀ ॥
panche sabad anaahad baaje sange saaringapaanee |
The Unstruck Melody of the Panch Shabad, the Five Primal Sounds, vibrates and resounds. I dwell with the Lord of the World.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਆਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ (ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਪੰਜ ਹੀ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਜ਼ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਬੀਰ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥੩॥੫॥

Kabeer, Your slave, performs this Aartee, this lamp-lit worship service for You, O Formless Lord of Nirvaanaa. ||3||5||
ਹੇ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਬੀਰ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਹੀ) ਆਰਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੫॥

ਜੋ ਜਨ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo jan tumaree bhagat karante tin ke kaaj savaarataa |1| rahaau |
You are the Arranger of the affairs of those humble beings who perform Your devotional worship service. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦਾਲਿ ਸੀਧਾ ਮਾਗਉ ਘੀਉ ॥
daal seedhaa maagau gheeo |
Lentils, flour and ghee - these things, I beg of You.
ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਦਾਲ, ਆਟਾ ਤੇ ਘਿਉ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਹਮਰਾ ਖੁਸੀ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਉ ॥
hamaraa khusee karai nit jeeo |
My mind shall ever be pleased.
ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੱਤ ਸੁਖੀ ਰੱਖੇ,
ਪਨੑੀਆ ਛਾਦਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ॥

Shoes, fine clothes,
ਜੁੱਤੀ ਤੇ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਭੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਅਨਾਜੁ ਮਗਉ ਸਤ ਸੀ ਕਾ ॥੧॥
anaaj mgau sat see kaa |1|
And grain of seven kinds - I beg of You. ||1||
ਤੇ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਸੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਨ ਭੀ (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਹੀ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਗਊ ਭੈਸ ਮਗਉ ਲਾਵੇਰੀ ॥
gaoo bhais mgau laaveree |
A milk cow, and a water buffalo, I beg of You,
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਮੈਂ ਗਾਂ ਮਹਿੰ ਲਵੇਰੀ (ਭੀ) ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਇਕ ਤਾਜਨਿ ਤੁਰੀ ਚੰਗੇਰੀ ॥
eik taajan turee changeree |
and a fine Turkestani horse.
ਤੇ ਇਕ ਚੰਗੀ ਅਰਬੀ ਘੋੜੀ ਭੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਘਰ ਕੀ ਗੀਹਨਿ ਚੰਗੀ ॥

ਘਰ ਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵੀ-
ਜਨੁ ਧੰਨਾ ਲੇਵੈ ਮੰਗੀ ॥੨॥੪॥

ਪਾਂਇ ਗਹੇ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਆਂਖ ਤਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਆਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
paane gahe jab te tumare tab te koaoo aankh tare nahee aanayo |
O God! the day when I caught hold of your feet, I do not bring anyone else under my sight
ਜਦ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਚਰਨ ਫੜੇ ਹਨ ਤਦ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ (ਹੋਰ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ।
ਰਾਮ ਰਹੀਮ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਹੈਂ ਮਤ ਏਕ ਨ ਮਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
raam raheem puraan kuraan anek kahain mat ek na maanayo |
None other is liked by me now the Puranas and the Quran try to know Thee by the names of Ram and Rahim and talk about you through several stories,
ਰਾਮ, ਰਹੀਮ, ਪੁਰਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮੱਤ ਕਹੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। (ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ) ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ।
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਸਭੈ ਬਹੁ ਭੇਦ ਕਹੈਂ ਹਮ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥
sinmrit saasatr bed sabhai bahu bhed kahain ham ek na jaanayo |
The Simritis, Shastras and Vedas describe several mysteries of yours, but I do not agree with any of them.
ਸਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ, ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੇਦ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ।
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਸਿਪਾਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਮੈ ਨ ਕਹ੍ਯੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਖਾਨ੍ਯੋ ॥੧॥
sree asipaan kripaa tumaree kar mai na kehayo sabh tohi bakhaanayo | 1|
O sword-wielder God! This all has been described by Thy Grace, what power can I have to write all this?.863.
ਹੇ ਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ (ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਹੈ)। (ਇਹ) ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ਸਾਰਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ ਕਥਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੮੬੩॥

O Lord! I have forsaken all other doors and have caught hold of only Thy door. O Lord! Thou has caught hold of my arm
ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦਰ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਂਹਿ ਗਹੇ ਕੀ ਲਾਜ ਅਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾਸ ਤੁਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
baanhi gahe kee laaj as gobind daas tuhaar | 2|
I, Govind, am Thy serf, kindly take (care of me and) protect my honour.864.
ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜੇ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਹੈ, ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ ॥੮੬੪॥
