ਵਰਨੁ ਭੇਖੁ ਅਸਰੂਪੁ ਸੁ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥
varan bhekh asaroop su eko eko sabad viddaanee |
Color, dress and form were contained in the One Lord the Shabad was contained in the One, Wondrous Lord.
ਇਕੋ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਸ਼ਬਦ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸੀ, ਉਹੀ (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਰੰਗ ਭੇਖ ਤੇ ਰੂਪ ਸੀ।
ਸਾਚ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੂਚਾ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥੬੭॥
saach binaa soochaa ko naahee naanak akath kahaanee |67|
Without the True Name, no one can become pure O Nanak, this is the Unspoken Speech. ||67||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਐਸੇ ਉਸ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੬੭॥
ਕਿਤੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਦੁਖਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਈ ॥
kit kit bidh jag upajai purakhaa kit kit dukh binas jaaee |
"How, in what way, was the world formed, O man? And what disaster will end it?"
(ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ:) ਹੇ ਪੁਰਖ! ਜਗਤ ਕਿਸ ਕਿਸ ਵਿਧੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਪਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ (ਪੈਂਦਾ) ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
haumai vich jag upajai purakhaa naam visariai dukh paaee |
In egotism, the world was formed, O man forgetting the Naam, it suffers and dies.
(ਉੱਤਰ:) ਹੇ ਪੁਰਖ! ਜਗਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਸਰ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
guramukh hovai su giaan tat beechaarai haumai sabad jalaae |
One who becomes Gurmukh contemplates the essence of spiritual wisdom through the Shabad, he burns away his egotism.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੱਤ-ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
tan man niramal niramal baanee saachai rahai samaae |
His body and mind become immaculate, through the Immaculate Bani of the Word. He remains absorbed in Truth.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੈ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
naame naam rahai bairaagee saach rakhiaa ur dhaare |
Through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he remains detached he enshrines the True Name in his heart.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਤਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੬੮॥
naanak bin naavai jog kade na hovai dekhahu ridai beechaare |68|
O Nanak, without the Name, Yoga is never attained reflect upon this in your heart, and see. ||68||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ਾਤੀ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਇਹੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ) ॥੬੮॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
guramukh saach sabad beechaarai koe |
The Gurmukh is one who reflects upon the True Word of the Shabad.
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

The True Bani is revealed to the Gurmukh.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
guramukh man bheejai viralaa boojhai koe |
The mind of the Gurmukh is drenched with the Lord's Love, but how rare are those who understand this.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ) ਭਿੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
guramukh nij ghar vaasaa hoe |
The Gurmukh dwells in the home of the self, deep within.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
guramukh jogee jugat pachhaanai |
The Gurmukh realizes the Way of Yoga.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਜੋਗੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ) ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੬੯॥
guramukh naanak eko jaanai |69|
O Nanak, the Gurmukh knows the One Lord alone. ||69||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬੯॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
bin satigur seve jog na hoee |
Without serving the True Guru, Yoga is not attained
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
bin satigur bhette mukat na koee |
without meeting the True Guru, no one is liberated.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦੀ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
bin satigur bhette naam paaeaa na jaae |
Without meeting the True Guru, the Naam cannot be found.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ॥
bin satigur bhette mahaa dukh paae |
Without meeting the True Guru, one suffers in terrible pain.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੜਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮਹਾ ਗਰਬਿ ਗੁਬਾਰਿ ॥
bin satigur bhette mahaa garab gubaar |
Without meeting the True Guru, there is only the deep darkness of egotistical pride.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਘੋਰ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੭੦॥
naanak bin gur muaa janam haar |70|
O Nanak, without the True Guru, one dies, having lost the opportunity of this life. ||70||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ (ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭੦॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥
guramukh man jeetaa haumai maar |
The Gurmukh conquers his mind by subduing his ego.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
guramukh saach rakhiaa ur dhaar |
The Gurmukh enshrines Truth in his heart.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਾ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰਿ ॥
guramukh jag jeetaa jamakaal maar bidaar |
The Gurmukh conquers the world he knocks down the Messenger of Death, and kills it.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਾਰਿ ॥
guramukh daragah na aavai haar |
The Gurmukh does not lose in the Court of the Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
guramukh mel milaae suo jaanai |
The Gurmukh is united in God's Union he alone knows.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਹੀ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੭੧॥
naanak guramukh sabad pachhaanai |71|
O Nanak, the Gurmukh realizes the Word of the Shabad. ||71||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੭੧॥
ਸਬਦੈ ਕਾ ਨਿਬੇੜਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਤੂ ਅਉਧੂ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
sabadai kaa niberraa sun too aaudhoo bin naavai jog na hoee |
This is the essence of the Shabad - listen, you hermits and Yogis. Without the Name, there is no Yoga.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਸੁਣ, ਸਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਸਾਰ (ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੋਗ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਨਹੀਂ।
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਾਤੇ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
naame raate anadin maate naamai te sukh hoee |
Those who are attuned to the Name, remain intoxicated night and day through the Name, they find peace.
ਜੋ 'ਨਾਮ' ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਉਹੀ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ। 'ਨਾਮ' ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
naamai hee te sabh paragatt hovai naame sojhee paaee |
Through the Name, everything is revealed through the Name, understanding is obtained.
'ਨਾਮ' ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, 'ਨਾਮ' ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਈ ॥
bin naavai bhekh kareh bahutere sachai aap khuaaee |
Without the Name, people wear all sorts of religious robes the True Lord Himself has confused them.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਉਧੂ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਤਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
satigur te naam paaeeai aaudhoo jog jugat taa hoee |
The Name is obtained only from the True Guru, O hermit, and then, the Way of Yoga is found.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ 'ਨਾਮ' ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ('ਨਾਮ' ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਹੀ) ਜੋਗ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੭੨॥
kar beechaar man dekhahu naanak bin naavai mukat na hoee |72|
Reflect upon this in your mind, and see O Nanak, without the Name, there is no liberation. ||72||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਵੋ, 'ਨਾਮ' ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ਾਤੀ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ)।੭੨)॥੭੨॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
teree gat mit toohai jaaneh kiaa ko aakh vakhaanai |
You alone know Your state and extent, Lord What can anyone say about it?
ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੈ ॥

You Yourself are hidden, and You Yourself are revealed. You Yourself enjoy all pleasures.
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੈਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੂਖਮ ਤੇ ਅਸਥੂਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ), ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਹੁ ਚੇਲੇ ਖੋਜਤ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਣੈ ॥
saadhik sidh guroo bahu chele khojat fireh furamaanai |
The seekers, the Siddhas, the many gurus and disciples wander around searching for You, according to Your Will.
ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ, ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਚੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖੋਜਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਮਾਗਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇ ਇਹ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ॥
maageh naam paae ih bhikhiaa tere darasan kau kurabaanai |
They beg for Your Name, and You bless them with this charity. I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.
ਤੈਥੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ 'ਨਾਮ' ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਇਹ ਭਿੱਖਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
abinaasee prabh khel rachaaeaa guramukh sojhee hoee |
The eternal imperishable Lord God has staged this play the Gurmukh understands it.
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ) ਖੇਡ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭਿ ਜੁਗ ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੭੩॥੧॥
naanak sabh jug aape varatai doojaa avar na koee |73|1|
O Nanak, He extends Himself throughout the ages there is no other than Him. ||73||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ॥੭੩॥੧॥
