ਰਾਗ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ, ਘਰ ੧੦ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ 'ਵਾਰ ਸਤ'।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਦਿਤ ਵਾਰਿ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥
aadit vaar aad purakh hai soee |
Sunday: He, the Lord, is the Primal Being.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਮੂਲ ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ-
ਆਪੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
aape varatai avar na koee |
He Himself is the Pervading Lord there is no other at all.
ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਥਾਂ) ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਜਗੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਪਰੋਈ ॥
ot pot jag rahiaa paroee |
Through and through, He is woven into the fabric of the world.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਾਂਗ (ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
aape karataa karai su hoee |
Whatever the Creator Himself does, that alone happens.
(ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
naam rate sadaa sukh hoee |
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one is forever in peace.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥
guramukh viralaa boojhai koee |1|
But how rare is the one, who, as Gurmukh, understands this. ||1||
ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਜਪਨੀ ਜਪਉ ਗੁਣਤਾਸਾ ॥

Within my heart, I chant the Chant of the Lord, the treasure of virtue.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ) ਮਾਲਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਪਗਿ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har agam agochar aparanpar suaamee jan pag lag dhiaavau hoe daasan daasaa |1| rahaau |
The Lord, my Lord and Master, is inaccessible, unfathomable and unlimited. Grasping the feet of the Lord's humble servants, I meditate on Him, and become the slave of His slaves. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਮਵਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
somavaar sach rahiaa samaae |
Monday: The True Lord is permeating and pervading.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tis kee keemat kahee na jaae |
His value cannot be described.
(ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਇਤਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਆਖਿ ਆਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਭਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
aakh aakh rahe sabh liv laae |
Talking and speaking about Him, all keep themselves lovingly focused on Him.
(ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤਾਂ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਆਖ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
jis devai tis palai paae |
Devotion falls into the laps of those whom He so blesses.
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਯਾਦ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਲਖਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
agam agochar lakhiaa na jaae |
He is inaccessible and unfathomable He cannot be seen.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
gur kai sabad har rahiaa samaae |2|
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is seen to be permeating and pervading everywhere. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮੰਗਲਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
mangal maaeaa mohu upaaeaa |
Tuesday: The Lord created love and attachment to Maya.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
aape sir sir dhandhai laaeaa |
He Himself has enjoined each and every being to their tasks.
ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰੇਕ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ (ਥਾਪ ਕੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਧੰਧੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ॥
aap bujhaae soee boojhai |
He alone understands, whom the Lord causes to understand.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
gur kai sabad dar ghar soojhai |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one understands his heart and home.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਦਰ-ਘਰ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
prem bhagat kare liv laae |
He worships the Lord in loving devotion.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
haumai mamataa sabad jalaae |3|
His egotism and self-conceit are burnt away by the Shabad. ||3||
(ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਅਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਮਮਤਾ ਸਾੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਬੁਧਵਾਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
budhavaar aape budh saar |
Wednesday: He Himself bestows sublime understanding.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਬੁੱਧੀ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ),
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
guramukh karanee sabad veechaar |
The Gurmukh does good deeds, and contemplates the Word of the Shabad.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਚਰਨ, ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਅਤੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
naam rate man niramal hoe |
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mind become pure and immaculate.
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਇ ॥
har gun gaavai haumai mal khoe |
He sings the Glorious Glorious Praises of the Lord, and washes off the filth of egotism.
(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਦ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
dar sachai sad sobhaa paae |
In the Court of the True Lord, he obtains lasting glory.
ਤੇ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥੪॥
naam rate gur sabad suhaae |4|
Imbued with the Naam, he is embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||4||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
laahaa naam paae gur duaar |
The profit of the Naam is obtained through the Door of the Guru.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ-ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
aape devai devanahaar |
The Great Giver Himself gives it.
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
jo devai tis kau bal jaaeeai |
I am a sacrifice to the One who gives it.
ਸੋ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥
gur parasaadee aap gavaaeeai |
By Guru's Grace, self-conceit is eradicated.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
naanak naam rakhahu ur dhaar |
O Nanak, enshrine the Naam within your heart.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ,
ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
devanahaare kau jaikaar |5|
I celebrate the victory of the Lord, the Great Giver. ||5||
ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ ॥੫॥
ਵੀਰਵਾਰਿ ਵੀਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥
veeravaar veer bharam bhulaae |
Thursday: The fifty-two warriors were deluded by doubt.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਬਵੰਜਾ) ਬੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਭੁਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ,
ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਏ ॥
pret bhoot sabh doojai laae |
All the goblins and demons are attached to duality.
ਸਾਰੇ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਵੇਕਾ ॥
aap upaae kar vekhai vekaa |
God Himself created them, and sees each one distinct.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਸਭ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ (ਭੀ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕਾ ॥
sabhanaa karate teree ttekaa |
O Creator Lord, You are the Support of all.
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
jeea jant teree saranaaee |
The beings and creatures are under Your protection.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਹਨ।
ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
so milai jis laihi milaaee |6|
He alone meets You, whom You Yourself meet. ||6||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੬॥
ਸੁਕ੍ਰਵਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
sukravaar prabh rahiaa samaaee |
Friday: God is permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
aap upaae sabh keemat paaee |
He Himself created all, and appraises the value of all.
(ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪ (ਹੀ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

One who become Gurmukh, contemplates the Lord.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ ਕਾਰ ॥
sach sanjam karanee hai kaar |
He practices truth and self-restraint.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ, ਅਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦਾ ਉੱਦਮ-ਇਹ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਦਾ ਕਰਤੱਬ, ਨਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਰਤੁ ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਤਾਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
varat nem nitaaprat poojaa |
Without genuine understanding, all fasts,
ਪਰ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਣਾ, ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਨੇਮ ਨਿਬਾਹੁਣਾ, ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ-
ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਭੁ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੭॥
bin boojhe sabh bhaau hai doojaa |7|
Religious rituals and daily worship services lead only to the love of duality. ||7||
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਛਨਿਛਰਵਾਰਿ ਸਉਣ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

Saturday: Contemplating good omens and the Shaastras,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਸ਼ੋਨਕ ਦਾ ਜੋਤਿਸ਼ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਵਿਚਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ-
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਮੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
haumai meraa bharamai sansaar |
in egotism and self-conceit, the world wanders in delusion.
(ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ) ਜਗਤ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
manamukh andhaa doojai bhaae |
The blind, self-willed manmukh in engrossed in the love of duality.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥
jam dar baadhaa chottaa khaae |
Bound and gagged at death's door, he is beaten and punished.
(ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ) ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur parasaadee sadaa sukh paae |
By Guru's Grace, one finds lasting peace.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੮॥
sach karanee saach liv laae |8|
He practices Truth, and lovingly focuses on the Truth. ||8||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣਾ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਕਰਤੱਬ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
satigur seveh se vaddabhaagee |
Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
haumai maar sach liv laagee |
Conquering their ego, they embrace love for the True Lord.
(ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁਕਾ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੁਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
terai rang raate sehaj subhaae |
They are automatically imbued with Your Love, O Lord.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
