ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਈਆ ॥
sej ek eko prabh tthaakur mehal na paavai manamukh bharameea |
There is one bed for the soul-bride, and the same bed for God, her Lord and Master. The self-willed manmukh does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence she wanders around, in limbo.
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ) ਇਕੋ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੀ, ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਹੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਜੇ ਆਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਢੀਲ ਨ ਪਈਆ ॥੫॥
gur gur karat saran je aavai prabh aae milai khin dteel na peea |5|
Uttering, "Guru, Guru", she seeks His Sanctuary so God comes to meet her, without a moment's delay. ||5||
ਜੇ ਉਹ 'ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰੂ' ਕਰਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੫॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆਚਾਰ ਵਧਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਪਟ ਲੋਭਈਆ ॥
kar kar kiriaachaar vadhaae man paakhandd karam kapatt lobheea |
One may perform many rituals, but the mind is filled with hypocrisy, evil deeds and greed.
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਤੀਰਥ-ਜਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ) ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡੀ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵਧਾਂਦਾ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਭ ਵਲ-ਛਲ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਕਰਮ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ (ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ)।
ਬੇਸੁਆ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬੇਟਾ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਈਆ ॥੬॥
besuaa kai ghar bettaa janamiaa pitaa taeh kiaa naam sadeea |6|
When a son is born in the house of a prostitute, who can tell the name of his father? ||6||
ਬਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜੰਮ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੬॥
ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਆਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਮਈਆ ॥
poorab janam bhagat kar aae gur har har har har bhagat jameea |
Because of devotional worship in my past incarnations, I have been born into this life. The Guru has inspired me to worship the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਹੁਣ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ) ਆਏ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਈਆ ॥੭॥
bhagat bhagat karate har paaeaa jaa har har har har naam sameea |7|
Worshipping, worshipping Him with devotion, I found the Lord, and then I merged into the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||7||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੭॥
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਣਿ ਆਣਿ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਪੀਸਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੋਲਿ ਅੰਗਿ ਲਈਆ ॥
prabh aan aan mahindee peesaaee aape ghol ghol ang leea |
God Himself came and ground the henna leaves into powder, and applied it to my body.
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਖ਼ਤਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਘਾਲ-ਕਮਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਸਣ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੈ। ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੀਂਹਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਘਸਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ-ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਲਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਯੋਗ ਬਣਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਗ ਸਕੇ)। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਲਿਆ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ (ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ) ਮਹਿੰਦੀ (ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਪਿਹਾਈ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ-ਰੂਪ ਮਹਿੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਘੋਲ ਘੋਲ ਕੇ (ਰੰਗੀਲੀ ਪਿਆਰ-ਭਰੀ ਬਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਢਿ ਲਈਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੨॥੧॥੬॥੯॥

Our Lord and Master showers His Mercy upon us, and grasps hold of our arms O Nanak, He lifts us up and saves us. ||8||6||9||2||1||6||9||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ) ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ ॥੮॥੬॥੨॥੧॥੬॥੯॥

ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥
aupamaa jaat na kahee mere prabh kee upamaa jaat na kahee |
I cannot express the Praises of my God I cannot express His Praises.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, (ਕਿਸੇ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

I have abandoned all others, seeking His Sanctuary. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ) ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਪਾਰ ॥

God's Lotus Feet are Infinite.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ-
ਹਉ ਜਾਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥
hau jaau sad balihaar |
I am forever a sacrifice to Them.
ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥
man preet laagee taeh |
My mind is in love with Them.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਜਿ ਆਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
taj aan kateh na jaeh |1|
If I were to abandon Them, there is nowhere else I could go. ||1||
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਨ ॥
har naam rasanaa kehan |
I chant the Lord's Name with my tongue.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ-
ਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਕਲਮਲ ਦਹਨ ॥
mal paap kalamal dehan |
The filth of my sins and evil mistakes is burnt off.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਸਾੜਨ (ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦਾ) ਹੈ।
ਚੜਿ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਤ ਉਧਾਰਿ ॥

Climbing aboard the Boat of the Saints, I am emancipated.
(ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ 'ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਹਨ' ਵਾਲੀ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਇਸ) ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ)
ਭੈ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

I have been carried across the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਮਨਿ ਡੋਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥

My mind is tied to the Lord with the string of love and devotion.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨੀ-
ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥

This is the Immaculate Way of the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਹ (ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਜਿ ਗਏ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
taj ge paap bikaar |
They forsake sin and corruption.
(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਲਗਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
har mile prabh nirankaar |3|
They meet the Formless Lord God. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖੀਐ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
prabh pekheeai bisamaad |
Gazing upon God, I am wonderstruck.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸਚਰਜ-ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ-
ਚਖਿ ਅਨਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਾਦ ॥
chakh anad pooran saad |
I taste the Perfect Flavor of Bliss.
ਪੂਰਨ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ) ਦਾ ਸੁਆਸ ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਹ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਇਤ ਊਤ ॥

I do not waver or wander here or there.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੀਤ ॥੪॥
prabh base har har cheet |4|
The Lord God, Har, Har, dwells within my consciousness. ||4||
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸੇ ਰਹਿਣ ॥੪॥
ਤਿਨੑ ਨਾਹਿ ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
tina naeh narak nivaas |
Those who constantly remember God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਰਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ,
ਨਿਤ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥

The treasure of virtue, will never go to hell.
(ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਨ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਨੈਨ ॥
te jam na pekheh nain |
Those who listen, fascinated, to the Unstruck Sound-Current of the Word,
ਉਹ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦੇ (ਜਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ),
ਸੁਨਿ ਮੋਹੇ ਅਨਹਤ ਬੈਨ ॥੫॥
sun mohe anahat bain |5|
Will never have to see the Messenger of Death with their eyes. ||5||
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਕ-ਰਸ (ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ) ਬੰਸਰੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥
ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥
har saran soor gupaal |
I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Heroic Lord of the World.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਗਤ ਵਸਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
prabh bhagat vas deaal |
The Merciful Lord God is under the power of His devotees.
ਜੋ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਗਮ ਲਹਹਿ ਨ ਭੇਵ ॥
har nigam laheh na bhev |
The Vedas do not know the Mystery of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੇਦ (ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ,
ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵ ॥੬॥
nit kareh mun jan sev |6|
The silent sages constantly serve Him. ||6||
ਸਾਰੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੬॥
ਦੁਖ ਦੀਨ ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰ ॥
dukh deen darad nivaar |
He is the Destroyer of the pains and sorrows of the poor.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੜੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
jaa kee mahaa bikharree kaar |
It is so very difficult to serve Him.
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਦੀ (ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ) ਕਾਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
taa kee mit na jaanai koe |
No one knows His limits.
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ (ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ) ਦਾ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥
jal thal maheeal soe |7|
He is pervading the water, the land and the sky. ||7||
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਲਖ ਬਾਰ ॥
kar bandanaa lakh baar |
Hundreds of thousands of times, I humbly bow to Him.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਥਕਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਬਾਰ ॥

I have grown weary, and I have collapsed at God's Door.
(ਹੋਰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
prabh karahu saadhoo dhoor |
O God, make me the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੮॥੧॥

Please fulfill this, Nanak's wish. ||8||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ॥੮॥੧॥

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥
prabh janam maran nivaar |
God, please release me from birth and death.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰਾ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ (ਦਾ ਗੇੜ) ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਹ।
ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
haar pario duaar |
I have grown weary, and collapsed at Your door.
ਮੈਂ (ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਆਸ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਗਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
geh charan saadhoo sang |
I grasp Your Feet, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
(ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਫੜ ਕੇ (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ ਕੇ,
ਮਨ ਮਿਸਟ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ॥
man misatt har har rang |
The Love of the Lord, Har, Har, is sweet to my mind.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਰਹੇ।
