ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥

Chant the Name of the Lord with your tongue, O mind.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

According to the pre-ordained destiny written upon my forehead, I have found the Guru, and the Lord abides within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਉੱਘੜ ਪੈਣ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਗਿਰਸਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
maaeaa girasat bhramat hai praanee rakh levahu jan apanaa |
Entangled in Maya, the mortal wanders around. Save Your humble servant, O Lord,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ,
ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦੁ ਹਰਣਾਖਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
jiau prahilaad haranaakhas grasio har raakhio har saranaa |2|
as you saved Prahlaad from the clutches of Harnaakash keep him in Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||2||
(ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਣਾਖਸ ਨੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨॥
ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਾ ॥
kavan kavan kee gat mit kaheeai har kee patit pavanaa |
How can I describe the state and the condition, O Lord, of those many sinners you have purified?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਿਸ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾਏ? ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤਾਂ ਬੜੇ ਬੜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਓਹੁ ਢੋਵੈ ਢੋਰ ਹਾਥਿ ਚਮੁ ਚਮਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਉਧਰਿਓ ਪਰਿਓ ਸਰਨਾ ॥੩॥
ohu dtovai dtor haath cham chamare har udhario pario saranaa |3|
Ravi Daas, the leather-worker, who worked with hides and carried dead animals was saved, by entering the Lord's Sanctuary. ||3||
(ਵੇਖੋ!) ਉਹ (ਰਵਿਦਾਸ) ਮੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਢੋਂਦਾ ਸੀ, (ਉਸ) ਚਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ (ਨਿੱਤ) ਚੰਮ (ਫੜਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੩॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਗਤ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਨ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਪਪਨਾ ॥
prabh deen deaal bhagat bhav taaran ham paapee raakh papanaa |
O God, Merciful to the meek, carry Your devotees across the world-ocean I am a sinner - save me from sin!
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਾਪੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਹਮ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸੰਨਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
har daasan daas daas ham kareeahu jan naanak daas daasanaa |4|1|
O Lord, make me the slave of the slave of Your slaves servant Nanak is the slave of Your slaves. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਜਨਮਾ ॥
ham moorakh mugadh agiaan matee saranaagat purakh ajanamaa |
I am foolish, idiotic and ignorant I seek Your Sanctuary, O Primal Being, O Lord beyond birth.
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਬੜੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਬੇ ਸਮਝ ਹਾਂ (ਪਰ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਮ ਪਾਥਰ ਹੀਨ ਅਕਰਮਾ ॥੧॥
kar kirapaa rakh levahu mere tthaakur ham paathar heen akaramaa |1|
Have Mercy upon me, and save me, O my Lord and Master I am a lowly stone, with no good karma at all. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਸਾਡੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪੱਥਰ (-ਦਿਲ) ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੈ ਰਾਮਾ ॥
mere man bhaj raam naamai raamaa |
O my mind, vibrate and meditate on the Lord, the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹੋਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Under Guru's Instructions, obtain the sublime, subtle essence of the Lord renounce other fruitless actions. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਛੱਡੋ ਹੋਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ, (ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਰਾਖੁ ਉਪਮਾ ॥
har jan sevak se har taare ham niragun raakh upamaa |
The humble servants of the Lord are saved by the Lord I am worthless - it is Your glory to save me.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ (ਦਰ ਦੇ) ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। (ਪਰ) ਅਸੀਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, (ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੀ) ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ) ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਵਡੇ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥੨॥
tujh bin avar na koee mere tthaakur har japeeai vadde karamaa |2|
I have no other than You, O my Lord and Master I meditate on the Lord, by my good karma. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ (ਮਦਦਗਾਰ) ਨਹੀਂ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮਹੀਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਵਡ ਦੂਖ ਸਹੰਮਾ ॥
naamaheen dhrig jeevate tin vadd dookh sahamaa |
Those who lack the Naam, the Name of the Lord, their lives are cursed, and they must endure terrible pain.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਊਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਿਮ (ਚੰਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਓਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ਮੰਦਭਾਗੀ ਮੂੜ ਅਕਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
oe fir fir jon bhavaaeeeh mandabhaagee moorr akaramaa |3|
They are consigned to reincarnation over and over again they are the most unfortunate fools, with no good karma at all. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਵਡ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
har jan naam adhaar hai dhur poorab likhe vadd karamaa |
The Naam is the Support of the Lord's humble servants their good karma is pre-ordained.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਮਝੋ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨੰਮਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
gur satigur naam drirraaeaa jan naanak safal janamaa |4|2|
The Guru, the True Guru, has implanted the Naam within servant Nanak, and his life is fruitful. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

ਹਮਰਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲੁਭਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰਾ ॥
hamaraa chit lubhat mohi bikhiaa bahu duramat mail bharaa |
My consciousness is lured by emotional attachment and corruption is is filled with evil-minded filth.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨ ਸਕਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਮ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਤਰਾ ॥੧॥
tumaree sevaa kar na sakah prabh ham kiau kar mugadh taraa |1|
I cannot serve You, O God I am ignorant - how can I cross over? ||1||
ਇਸੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੀਏ? ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਨਰਹਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਰਹਰਾ ॥
mere man jap narahar naam naraharaa |
O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, the Lord, the Lord of man.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jan aoopar kirapaa prabh dhaaree mil satigur paar paraa |1| rahaau |
God has showered His Mercy upon His humble servant meeting with the True Guru, he is carried across. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਮਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਜਸੁ ਕਰਾ ॥
hamare pitaa tthaakur prabh suaamee har dehu matee jas karaa |
O my Father, my Lord and Master, Lord God, please bless me with such understanding, that I may sing Your Praises.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਹੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਹੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਸਾਨੂੰ (ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ।
ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਲੋਹ ਤਰਾ ॥੨॥
tumarai sang lage se udhare jiau sang kaasatt loh taraa |2|
Those who are attached to You are saved, like iron which is carried across with wood. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਠ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਲੋਹਾ (ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਹੋਛੀ ਮਤਿ ਮਧਿਮ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕਰਾ ॥
saakat nar hochhee mat madhim jina har har sev na karaa |
The faithless cynics have little or no understanding they do not serve the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਹੋਛੀ ਤੇ ਮਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤੇ ਨਰ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਦੁਹਚਾਰੀ ਓਇ ਜਨਮਿ ਮੁਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਾ ॥੩॥
te nar bhaagaheen duhachaaree oe janam mue fir maraa |3|
Those beings are unfortunate and vicious they die, and are consigned to reincarnation, over and over again. ||3||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ (ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ) ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮੑ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇ ਨੑਾਏ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਾ ॥

Those whom You unite with Yourself, O Lord and Master, bathe in the Guru's cleansing pool of contentment.
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
duramat mail gee har bhajiaa jan naanak paar paraa |4|3|
Vibrating upon the Lord, the filth of their evil-mindedness is washed away servant Nanak is carried across. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਰਹੁ ॥

Come, O Saints, and join together, O my Siblings of Destiny let us tell the Stories of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ! (ਸਾਧ-ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕੱਠੇ ਰਲ ਬੈਠੋ, ਅਤੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰੋ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਹੈ ਕਲਜੁਗਿ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਹੁ ॥੧॥
har har naam bohith hai kalajug khevatt gur sabad tarahu |1|
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the boat in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga the Word of the Guru's Shabad is the boatman to ferry us across. ||1||
ਇਸ ਕਲਹ-ਭਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ) ਮਲਾਹ (ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘੋ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰਹੁ ॥
mere man har gun har ucharahu |
O my mind, chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

According to the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon your forehead, sing the Praises of the Lord join the Holy Congregation, and cross over the world-ocean. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
