ਰਾਗ ਸੂਹੀ, ਘਰ ੬ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਜਲੁ ਕੈਹਾ ਚਿਲਕਣਾ ਘੋਟਿਮ ਕਾਲੜੀ ਮਸੁ ॥
aujal kaihaa chilakanaa ghottim kaalarree mas |
Bronze is bright and shiny, but when it is rubbed, its blackness appears.
ਮੈਂ ਕੈਂਹ (ਦਾ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਤੇ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਵਾਂ (ਭਾਂਡਾ) ਘਸਾਇਆ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਮਾੜੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਸਿਆਹੀ (ਲੱਗ ਗਈ)।
ਧੋਤਿਆ ਜੂਠਿ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ॥੧॥
dhotiaa jootth na utarai je sau dhovaa tis |1|
Washing it, its impurity is not removed, even if it is washed a hundred times. ||1||
ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਕੈਂਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਵਾਂ (ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਾਂ) ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ) ਧੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਅੰਦਰਲੀ) ਜੂਠ (ਕਾਲਖ) ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਸਜਣ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੰਨਿੑ ॥
sajan seee naal mai chaladiaa naal chalana |
They alone are my friends, who travel along with me
ਮੇਰੇ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ, ਤੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੱਲਣ,
ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜੇ ਦਿਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jithai lekhaa mangeeai tithai kharre disan |1| rahaau |
and in that place, where the accounts are called for, they appear standing with me. ||1||Pause||
(ਅਗਾਂਹ) ਜਿਥੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਿਸਾਬ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਥੇ ਅਝੱਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾੜੀਆ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਵੀਆਹਾ ॥

There are houses, mansions and tall buildings, painted on all sides
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਚਿੱਤਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ,
ਢਠੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨੑੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਖਣੀਆਹਾ ॥੨॥
dtattheea kam na aavanaee vichahu sakhaneeaahaa |2|
but they are empty within, and they crumble like useless ruins. ||2||
ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋਣ, (ਉਹ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ) ਢੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਬਗਾ ਬਗੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੰਝਿ ਵਸੰਨਿੑ ॥
bagaa bage kaparre teerath manjh vasana |
The herons in their white feathers dwell in the sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਖੰਭ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਦੇ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
ਘੁਟਿ ਘੁਟਿ ਜੀਆ ਖਾਵਣੇ ਬਗੇ ਨਾ ਕਹੀਅਨਿੑ ॥੩॥
ghutt ghutt jeea khaavane bage naa kaheeana |3|
They tear apart and eat the living beings, and so they are not called white. ||3||
ਪਰ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਗਲੋਂ) ਘੁੱਟ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ॥੩॥
ਸਿੰਮਲ ਰੁਖੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਮੈ ਮੈਜਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਭੁਲੰਨਿੑ ॥
sinmal rukh sareer mai maijan dekh bhulana |
My body is like the simmal tree seeing me, other people are fooled.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ (ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੋਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੇ ਫਲ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨੑੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਹੰਨਿੑ ॥੪॥
se fal kam na aavanaee te gun mai tan hana |4|
Its fruits are useless - just like the qualities of my body. ||4||
(ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਫਲ (ਤੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ, ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਅੰਧੁਲੈ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਡੂਗਰ ਵਾਟ ਬਹੁਤੁ ॥
andhulai bhaar utthaaeaa ddoogar vaatt bahut |
The blind man is carrying such a heavy load, and his journey through the mountains is so long.
ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੇ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਭਾਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ) ਬੜਾ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਖੀ ਲੋੜੀ ਨਾ ਲਹਾ ਹਉ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਾ ਕਿਤੁ ॥੫॥
akhee lorree naa lahaa hau charr langhaa kit |5|
My eyes can see, but I cannot find the Way. How can I climb up and cross over the mountain? ||5||
ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਲਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਹ-ਖਹਿੜਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ (ਪਹਾੜੀ ਤੇ) ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂ? ॥੫॥
ਚਾਕਰੀਆ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਤੁ ॥

What good does it do to serve, and be good, and be clever?
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦਾਂ, ਲੋਕ-ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਚਲਾਕੀਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਧਾ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ॥੬॥੧॥੩॥
naanak naam samaal toon badhaa chhutteh jit |6|1|3|
O Nanak, contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and you shall be released from bondage. ||6||1||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ। (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ (-ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ॥੬॥੧॥੩॥

ਜਪ ਤਪ ਕਾ ਬੰਧੁ ਬੇੜੁਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਲੰਘਹਿ ਵਹੇਲਾ ॥
jap tap kaa bandh berrulaa jit langheh vahelaa |
Build the raft of meditation and self-discipline, to carry you across the river.
(ਹੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਜੇਹਾ ਬੇੜਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ (ਬੇੜੇ) ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਛੇਤੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
ਨਾ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਨਾ ਊਛਲੈ ਐਸਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੧॥
naa saravar naa aoochhalai aisaa panth suhelaa |1|
There will be no ocean, and no rising tides to stop you this is how comfortable your path shall be. ||1||
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ ਐਸਾ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਕਿ (ਤੇਰੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਨਾਹ ਇਹ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਸਰੋਵਰ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਉਛਾਲੇ ਮਾਰੇਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਤੇਰਾ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਜੀਠੜਾ ਰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਸਦ ਰੰਗ ਢੋਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
teraa eko naam manjeettharraa rataa meraa cholaa sad rang dtolaa |1| rahaau |
Your Name alone is the color, in which the robe of my body is dyed. This color is permanent, O my Beloved. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ (-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮਜੀਠ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੱਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚੋਲਾ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਜਨ ਚਲੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਕਿਉ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
saajan chale piaariaa kiau melaa hoee |
My beloved friends have departed how will they meet the Lord?
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦੇ ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਂਧੀ! (ਕੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਗੰਠੜੀਐ ਮੇਲੇਗਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
je gun hoveh ganttharreeai melegaa soee |2|
If they have virtue in their pack, the Lord will unite them with Himself. ||2||
(ਵੇਖ!) ਜੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਵੀਛੁੜੈ ਜੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਈ ॥
miliaa hoe na veechhurrai je miliaa hoee |
Once united with Him, they will not be separated again, if they are truly united.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਏ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਸਚ-ਮੁਚ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
aavaa gaun nivaariaa hai saachaa soee |3|
The True Lord brings their comings and goings to an end. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਆ ਸੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਚੋਲਾ ॥
haumai maar nivaariaa seetaa hai cholaa |
One who subdues and eradicates egotism, sews the robe of devotion.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਾ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਹ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੋਲਾ ॥੪॥
gur bachanee fal paaeaa seh ke amrit bolaa |4|
Following the Word of the Guru's Teachings, she receives the fruits of her reward, the Ambrosial Words of the Lord. ||4||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਫਲ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ ਸਹੁ ਖਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
naanak kahai saheleeho sahu kharaa piaaraa |
Says Nanak, O soul-brides, our Husband Lord is so dear!
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਹੋ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਮ ਸਹ ਕੇਰੀਆ ਦਾਸੀਆ ਸਾਚਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੫॥੨॥੪॥
ham seh kereea daaseea saachaa khasam hamaaraa |5|2|4|
We are the servants, the hand-maidens of the Lord He is our True Lord and Master. ||5||2||4||
(ਫਿਰ ਇਉਂ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਅਸੀਂ ਖਸਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਡੇ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਕਾਇਮ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੨॥੪॥

Soohee, First Mehl:
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਭਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਵਾਰਸੀ ॥
jin kau bhaanddai bhaau tinaa savaarasee |
Those whose minds are filled with love of the Lord, are blessed and exalted.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ) ਨੂੰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ) ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਦੀ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ), (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੂਖੀ ਕਰੈ ਪਸਾਉ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਸੀ ॥
sookhee karai pasaau dookh visaarasee |
They are blessed with peace, and their pains are forgotten.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਹਸਾ ਮੂਲੇ ਨਾਹਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਤਾਰਸੀ ॥੧॥
sahasaa moole naeh sarapar taarasee |1|
He will undoubtedly, certainly save them. ||1||
ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤਿਨੑਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਇ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲੀਖਿਆ ॥
tinaa miliaa gur aae jin kau leekhiaa |
The Guru comes to meet those whose destiny is so pre-ordained.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਧੁਰੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੀਖਿਆ ॥
amrit har kaa naau devai deekhiaa |
He blesses them with the Teachings of the Ambrosial Name of the Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਚਾਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ਭਵਹਿ ਨ ਭੀਖਿਆ ॥੨॥
chaaleh satigur bhaae bhaveh na bheekhiaa |2|
Those who walk in the Will of the True Guru, never wander begging. ||2||
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ (ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਭਟਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਿਰਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਮਹਲੁ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਿਵੈ ਕਿਸੁ ॥
jaa kau mehal hajoor dooje nivai kis |
And one who lives in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, why should he bow down to any other?
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਰਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ।
ਦਰਿ ਦਰਵਾਣੀ ਨਾਹਿ ਮੂਲੇ ਪੁਛ ਤਿਸੁ ॥
dar daravaanee naeh moole puchh tis |
The gate-keeper at the Lord's Gate shall not stop him to ask any questions.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੇ (ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਦਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਪੁੱਛ-ਗਿੱਛ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਛੁਟੈ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬੋਲਿ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਦਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ॥੩॥
chhuttai taa kai bol saahib nadar jis |3|
And one who is blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace - by his words, others are emancipated as well. ||3||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਵਿਚ (ਚੱਲ ਕੇ) ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਘਲੇ ਆਣੇ ਆਪਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਮਤੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ghale aane aap jis naahee doojaa matai koe |
The Lord Himself sends out, and recalls the mortal beings no one else gives Him advice.
ਜਿਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੱਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਸੱਦ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਜਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਭ ਸੋਇ ॥
dtaeh usaare saaj jaanai sabh soe |
He Himself demolishes, constructs and creates He knows everything.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਢਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥
naau naanak bakhasees nadaree karam hoe |4|3|5|
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord is the blessing, given to those who receive His Mercy, and His Grace. ||4||3||5||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥
