ਜੋ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਰਸਾਇਣ ॥
jo maageh soee soee paaveh sev har ke charan rasaaein |
Whatever I ask for, I receive I serve at the Lord's feet, the source of nectar.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥
janam maran duhahoo te chhootteh bhavajal jagat taraaein |1|
I am released from the bondage of birth and death, and so I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||
(ਨਿਰਾ ਇਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜਨਮ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਦਾਸ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥
khojat khojat tat beechaario daas govind paraaein |
Searching and seeking, I have come to understand the essence of reality the slave of the Lord of the Universe is dedicated to Him.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਆਸਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਖੇਮ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਜੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੦॥
abinaasee khem chaaheh je naanak sadaa simar naaraaein |2|5|10|
If you desire eternal bliss, O Nanak, ever remember the Lord in meditation. ||2||5||10||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਖ ਲੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੦॥

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਾਟਿਓ ॥

The slanderer, by Guru's Grace, has been turned away.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ) ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸਿਵ ਕੈ ਬਾਣਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਾਟਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
paarabraham prabh bhe deaalaa siv kai baan sir kaattio |1| rahaau |
The Supreme Lord God has become merciful with Shiva's arrow, He shot his head off. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਉਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਲਿਆਣ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਤੀਰ ਨਾਲ (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਲੁ ਜਾਲੁ ਜਮੁ ਜੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਸਚ ਕਾ ਪੰਥਾ ਥਾਟਿਓ ॥
kaal jaal jam johi na saakai sach kaa panthaa thaattio |
Death, and the noose of death, cannot see me I have adopted the Path of Truth.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਜਾਲ, ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ (ਕੋਈ ਭੀ) ਤੱਕ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਮੱਲ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਾਤ ਖਰਚਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਿਖੁਟਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿਓ ॥੧॥
khaat kharachat kichh nikhuttat naahee raam ratan dhan khaattio |1|
I have earned the wealth, the jewel of the Lord's Name eating and spending, it is never used up. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਵਰਤਿਆਂ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਭਸਮਾ ਭੂਤ ਹੋਆ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਆ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bhasamaa bhoot hoaa khin bheetar apanaa keea paaeaa |
In an instant, the slanderer was reduced to ashes he received the rewards of his own actions.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਨਿੰਦਾ-ਸੁਭਾਵ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਜਿਸ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਨਿੰਦਕ ਸਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਇਆਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਗਮ ਨਿਗਮੁ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੧॥
aagam nigam kahai jan naanak sabh dekhai lok sabaaeaa |2|6|11|
Servant Nanak speaks the truth of the scriptures the whole world is witness to it. ||2||6||11||
(ਇਸ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਅਗੰਮੀ ਰੱਬੀ ਖੇਡ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੧॥

ਕਿਰਪਨ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਭਰੇ ॥
kirapan tan man kilavikh bhare |
O miser, your body and mind are full of sin.
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੂਮ! (ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਨਾਹ ਖ਼ਰਚਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇਰਾ) ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਜਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਢਾਕਨ ਕਉ ਇਕੁ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhasang bhajan kar suaamee dtaakan kau ik hare |1| rahaau |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, vibrate, meditate on the Lord and Master He alone can cover your sins. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੂਮ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਦਾ ਪਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਕੇ ਛੁਟਕਤ ਥਾਮ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਕਰੇ ॥
anik chhidr bohith ke chhuttakat thaam na jaahee kare |
When many holes appear in your boat, you cannot plug them with your hands.
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੂਮ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੁੰਞਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ-) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਛੇਕ ਪੈ ਗਏ ਹਨ, (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ) ਇਹ ਛੇਕ ਬੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਰੇ ॥੧॥
jis kaa bohith tis aaraadhe khotte sang khare |1|
Worship and adore the One, to whom your boat belongs He saves the counterfeit along with the genuine. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਖੋਟੇ (ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ) ਖਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਗਲੀ ਸੈਲ ਉਠਾਵਤ ਚਾਹੈ ਓਇ ਊਹਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਧਰੇ ॥
galee sail utthaavat chaahai oe aoohaa hee hai dhare |
People want to lift up the mountain with mere words, but it just stays there.
ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਹਾੜ ਚੁੱਕਣੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਪਹਾੜ ਉੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਧਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜੋਰੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥
jor sakat naanak kichh naahee prabh raakhahu saran pare |2|7|12|
Nanak has no strength or power at all O God, please protect me - I seek Your Sanctuary. ||2||7||12||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਛਿਦ੍ਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ॥੨॥੭॥੧੨॥

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਉ ॥

Meditate on the lotus feet of the Lord within your mind.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਾਢਿ ਕੁਠਾਰੁ ਪਿਤ ਬਾਤ ਹੰਤਾ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaadt kutthaar pit baat hantaa aaukhadh har ko naau |1| rahaau |
The Name of the Lord is the medicine it is like an axe, which destroys the diseases caused by anger and egotism. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਇਕ ਐਸੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਗਰਮੀ ਤੇ ਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੀਨੇ ਤਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਦੁਖ ਹੰਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
teene taap nivaaranahaaraa dukh hantaa sukh raas |
The Lord is the One who removes the three fevers He is the Destroyer of pain, the warehouse of peace.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਧਿ ਵਿਆਧਿ ਉਪਾਧਿ) ਤਿੰਨੇ ਹੀ ਤਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
taa kau bighan na koaoo laagai jaa kee prabh aagai aradaas |1|
No obstacles block the path of one who prays before God. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਬੈਦ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕ ॥
sant prasaad baid naaraaein karan kaaran prabh ek |
By the Grace of the Saints, the Lord has become my physician God alone is the Doer, the Cause of causes.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹਕੀਮ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩॥
baal budh pooran sukhadaataa naanak har har ttek |2|8|13|
He is the Giver of perfect peace to the innocent-minded people O Nanak, the Lord, Har, Har, is my support. ||2||8||13||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੮॥੧੩॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਸਦੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਆਪਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dhaar anugrahu paarabraham suaamee vasadee keenee aap |1| rahaau |
Showering His Kind Mercy, the Supreme Lord God Himself has blessed the town. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਞੀ ਪਈ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਨਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਆਪ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸਮੑਾਲੇ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
jis ke se fir tin hee samaale binase sog santaap |
The One who owns me, has again taken care of me my sorrow and suffering is past.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ) ਆਪ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਹੋਏ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੧॥
haath dee raakhe jan apane har hoe maaee baap |1|
He gave me His hand, and saved me, His humble servant the Lord is my mother and father. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਆਪ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਹੋਏ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ਦਯਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥ ॥
jeea jant hoe miharavaanaa dayaa dhaaree har naath |
All beings and creatures have become kind to me my Lord and Master blessed me with His Kind Mercy.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਬਡ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥੯॥੧੪॥
naanak saran pare dukh bhanjan jaa kaa badd parataap |2|9|14|
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Destroyer of pain His glory is so great! ||2||9||14||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੯॥੧੪॥

O Lord and Master, I seek the Sanctuary of Your Court.
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ)।
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਖੰਡਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਉਨੁ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kott aparaadh khanddan ke daate tujh bin kaun udhaare |1| rahaau |
Destroyer of millions of sins, O Great Giver, other than You, who else can save me? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਦਾਤਾਰ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਅਰਥ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
khojat khojat bahu parakaare sarab arath beechaare |
Searching, searching in so many ways, I have contemplated all the objects of life.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੋਜ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਉਤੇ ਅੱਪੜਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ)
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਚਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
saadhasang param gat paaeeai maaeaa rach bandh haare |1|
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the supreme state is attained. But those who are engrossed in the bondage of Maya, lose the game of life. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਹਾਰ ਜਾਈਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
