ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
satigur poochhau jaae naam dhiaaeisaa jeeo |
I shall go and ask the True Guru, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਦ ਤਕ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਸਾਚੁ ਚਵਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਾ ॥
sach naam dhiaaee saach chavaaee guramukh saach pachhaanaa |
I meditate on the True Name, chant the True Name, and as Gurmukh, I realize the True Name.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਲਾਜ) ਮੈਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥
deenaa naath deaal niranjan anadin naam vakhaanaa |
Night and day, I chant the Name of the merciful, immaculate Lord, the Master of the poor.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
karanee kaar dhurahu furamaaee aap muaa man maaree |
The Primal Lord has ordained the tasks to be done self-conceit is overcome, and the mind is subdued.
ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੨॥
naanak naam mahaa ras meetthaa trisanaa naam nivaaree |5|2|
O Nanak, the Naam is the sweetest essence through the Naam, thirst and desire are stilled. ||5||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੨॥
ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਠੜੀਏ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
pir sang moottharree khabar na paaeea jeeo |
Your Husband Lord is with you, O deluded soul-bride, but you do are not aware of Him.
ਹੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਠੱਗੀ ਗਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ! (ਤੇਰਾ) ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ।
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਅੜਾ ਲੇਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
masatak likhiarraa lekh purab kamaaeaa jeeo |
Your destiny is written on your forehead, according to your past actions.
(ਤੇਰੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ) ਲੇਖ ਹੀ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ (ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਗ-ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ)।
ਲੇਖੁ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਸੀ ॥
lekh na mittee purab kamaaeaa kiaa jaanaa kiaa hosee |
This inscription of past deeds cannot be erased what do I know about what will happen?
ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ) ਲੇਖ (ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਮਿਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ ਕਿ (ਉਸ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਕੀਹ ਵਾਪਰੇਗੀ।
ਗੁਣੀ ਅਚਾਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਬਹਿ ਬਹਿ ਰੋਸੀ ॥
gunee achaar nahee rang raatee avagun beh beh rosee |
You have not adopted a virtuous lifestyle, and you are not attuned to the Lord's Love you sit there, crying over your past misdeeds.
(ਪੂਰਬਲੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉੱਚੇ ਆਚਰਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ (ਕੀਤੇ) ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਦੁਖੀ (ਹੀ) ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਆਕ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਏ ਦਿਨ ਪੁੰਨਿਆ ॥
dhan joban aak kee chhaaeaa biradh bhe din puniaa |
Wealth and youth are like the shade of the bitter swallow-wort plant you are growing old, and your days are coming to their end.
(ਜੀਵ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਮਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ) ਧਨ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਅੱਕ (ਦੇ ਬੂਟੇ) ਦੀ ਛਾਂ (ਵਰਗੇ ਹੀ) ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਸਾਥ ਤੋੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਛੂਟੀ ਝੂਠਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥੧॥
naanak naam binaa dohaagan chhoottee jhootth vichhuniaa |1|
O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall end up as a discarded, divorced bride your own falsehood shall separate you from the Lord. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਅਭਾਗਣ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੂੜੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਬੂਡੀ ਘਰੁ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਚਲੋ ॥
booddee ghar ghaalio gur kai bhaae chalo |
You have drowned, and your house is ruined walk in the Way of the Guru's Will.
ਹੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬੀ ਹੋਈਏ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ।
ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਮਹਲੋ ॥
saachaa naam dhiaae paaveh sukh mahalo |
Meditate on the True Name, and you shall find peace in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਲੱਭ ਲਏਂਗੀ।
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
har naam dhiaae taa sukh paae peeearrai din chaare |
Meditate on the Lord's Name, and you shall find peace your stay in this world shall last only four days.
ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਮਾਣ?) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਏ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
nij ghar jaae bahai sach paae anadin naal piaare |
Sit in the home of your own being, and you shall find Truth night and day, be with your Beloved.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ) ਉਸ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਣੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੁਣਿਅਹੁ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
vin bhagatee ghar vaas na hovee suniahu lok sabaae |
Without loving devotion, you cannot dwell in your own home - listen, everyone!
ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ, ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਸੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਏ ॥੨॥
naanak sarasee taa pir paae raatee saachai naae |2|
O Nanak, she is happy, and she obtains her Husband Lord, if she is attuned to the True Name. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਰਸ ਮਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
pir dhan bhaavai taa pir bhaavai naaree jeeo |
If the soul-bride is pleasing to her Husband Lord, then the Husband Lord will love His bride.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥
rang preetam raatee gur kai sabad veechaaree jeeo |
Imbued with the love of her Beloved, she contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇਈ ॥
gur sabad veechaaree naah piaaree niv niv bhagat kareee |
She contemplates the Guru's Shabads, and her Husband Lord loves her in deep humility, she worships Him in loving devotion.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਊਂ ਨਿਊਂ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਪੂਰਨ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ-ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਲਾਏ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਰੇਈ ॥
maaeaa mohu jalaae preetam ras meh rang kareee |
She burns away her emotional attachment to Maya, and in love, she loves her Beloved.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ (ਭਿੱਜ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੇਤੀ ਲਾਲ ਭਈ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
prabh saache setee rang rangetee laal bhee man maaree |
She is imbued and drenched with the Love of the True Lord she has become beautiful, by conquering her mind.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਵਸੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਪਿਰ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੩॥
naanak saach vasee sohaagan pir siau preet piaaree |3|
O Nanak, the happy soul-bride abides in Truth she loves to love her Husband Lord. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੁਭਾਗ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰਿ ਜੇ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਵਏ ਜੀਉ ॥
pir ghar sohai naar je pir bhaave jeeo |
The soul-bride looks so beautiful in the home of her Husband Lord, if she is pleasing to Him.
ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਝੂਠੇ ਵੈਣ ਚਵੇ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਏ ਜੀਉ ॥
jhootthe vain chave kaam na aave jeeo |
It is of no use at all to speak false words.
(ਪਰ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ) ਝੂਠੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲੇ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਬੋਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਲਈ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਝੂਠੁ ਅਲਾਵੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਨੈਣੀ ॥
jhootth alaavai kaam na aavai naa pir dekhai nainee |
If she speaks false, it is of no use to her, and she does not see her Husband Lord with her eyes.
(ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਝੂਠਾ ਬੋਲ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਬੋਲ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਉਸ ਵਲ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਅਵਗੁਣਿਆਰੀ ਕੰਤਿ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ਛੂਟੀ ਵਿਧਣ ਰੈਣੀ ॥
avaguniaaree kant visaaree chhoottee vidhan rainee |
Worthless, forgotten and abandoned by her Husband Lord, she passes her life-night without her Lord and Master.
ਉਸ ਔਗੁਣ-ਭਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਮਾਨੈ ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੀ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
gurasabad na maanai faahee faathee saa dhan mehal na paae |
Such a wife does not believe in the Word of the Guru's Shabad she is caught in the net of the world, and does not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦੀ, ਉਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰ-ਘਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥
naanak aape aap pachhaanai guramukh sehaj samaae |4|
O Nanak, if she understands her own self, then, as Gurmukh, she merges in celestial peace. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
dhan sohaagan naar jin pir jaaniaa jeeo |
Blessed is that soul-bride, who knows her Husband Lord.
ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੂੜਿਆਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਣਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥
naam binaa koorriaar koorr kamaaniaa jeeo |
Without the Naam, she is false, and her actions are false as well.
ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਵਣਜਾਰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕੂੜ ਹੀ ਕਮਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ)।
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਵੀ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
har bhagat suhaavee saache bhaavee bhaae bhagat prabh raatee |
Devotional worship of the Lord is beautiful the True Lord loves it. So immerse yourself in loving devotional worship of God.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਿਰੁ ਰਲੀਆਲਾ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਬਾਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
pir raleeaalaa joban baalaa tis raave rang raatee |
My Husband Lord is playful and innocent imbued with His Love, I enjoy Him.
ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਾਸੀ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥
gur sabad vigaasee sahu raavaasee fal paaeaa gunakaaree |
She blossoms forth through the Word of the Guru's Shabad she ravishes her Husband Lord, and obtains the most noble reward.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਖਿੜੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਦਾ (ਇਹ) ਫਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੩॥
naanak saach milai vaddiaaee pir ghar sohai naaree |5|3|
O Nanak, in Truth, she obtains glory in her Husband's home, the soul-bride looks beautiful. ||5||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫॥੩॥
