ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਪੈ ॥
charan kamal jaa kaa man raapai |
One whose mind is imbued with the Lord's lotus feet
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋਗ ਅਗਨਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥੨॥
sog agan tis jan na biaapai |2|
is not afflicted by the fire of sorrow. ||2||
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
saagar tariaa saadhoo sange |
He crosses over the world-ocean in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੇ ॥੩॥
nirbhau naam japahu har range |3|
He chants the Name of the Fearless Lord, and is imbued with the Lord's Love. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ ॥੩॥
ਪਰ ਧਨ ਦੋਖ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਪ ਨ ਫੇੜੇ ॥
par dhan dokh kichh paap na ferre |
One who does not steal the wealth of others, who does not commit evil deeds or sinful acts
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਪਰਾਏ ਧਨ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਐਬ ਪਾਪ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ,
ਜਮ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨੇੜੇ ॥੪॥
jam jandaar na aavai nerre |4|
- the Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||4||
ਭਿਆਨਕ ਜਮ ਭੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ) ॥੪॥
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
trisanaa agan prabh aap bujhaaee |
God Himself quenches the fires of desire.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਬੁਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੫॥੧॥੫੫॥
naanak udhare prabh saranaaee |5|1|55|
O Nanak, in God's Sanctuary, one is saved. ||5||1||55||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੫॥੧॥੫੫॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਭਈ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇਆ ॥
tripat bhee sach bhojan khaaeaa |
I am satisfied and satiated, eating the food of Truth.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਖਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
man tan rasanaa naam dhiaaeaa |1|
With my mind, body and tongue, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥
ਜੀਵਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਵਨਾ ॥
jeevanaa har jeevanaa |
Life, spiritual life, is in the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜੀਵਨ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗ਼ੀ!
ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeevan har jap saadhasang |1| rahaau |
Spiritual life consists of chanting the Lord's Name in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਾਏ ॥
anik prakaaree basatr odtaae |
He is dressed in robes of all sorts,
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵੰਨ ਸੁਵੰਨੇ) ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ),
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥
anadin keeratan har gun gaae |2|
if he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Glorious Praises, day and night. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹਸਤੀ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
hasatee rath as asavaaree |
He rides upon elephants, chariots and horses,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਹਾਥੀ ਰਥਾਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ (ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ)
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
har kaa maarag ridai nihaaree |3|
if he sees the Lord's Path within his own heart. ||3||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
man tan antar charan dhiaaeaa |
Meditating on the Lord's Feet, deep within his mind and body,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੬॥
har sukh nidhaan naanak daas paaeaa |4|2|56|
slave Nanak has found the Lord, the treasure of peace. ||4||2||56||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੬॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥
gur ke charan jeea kaa nisataaraa |
The Guru's feet emancipate the soul.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਹਨ,
ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
samund saagar jin khin meh taaraa |1| rahaau |
They carry it across the world-ocean in an instant. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ) ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੋਈ ਹੋਆ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਰਤੁ ਕੋਈ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇਆ ॥
koee hoaa kram rat koee teerath naaeaa |
Some love rituals, and some bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਸੀੰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
daasanee har kaa naam dhiaaeaa |1|
The Lord's slaves meditate on His Name. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
bandhan kaattanahaar suaamee |
The Lord Master is the Breaker of bonds.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਜੋ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੨॥੩॥੫੭॥
jan naanak simarai antarajaamee |2|3|57|
Servant Nanak meditates in remembrance on the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||2||3||57||
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੩॥੫੭॥

ਕਿਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਿ ਨ ਤੂਟਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥

The lifestyle of Your slave is so pure,
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ (ਕਿਧਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਟੁੱਟ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਏ,
ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
daas tere kee niramal reet |1| rahaau |
That nothing can break his love for You. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ-ਬਹਿਣੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨ ਧਨ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
jeea praan man dhan te piaaraa |
He is more dear to me than my soul, my breath of life, my mind and my wealth.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਮਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਧਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਉਮੈ ਬੰਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
haumai bandh har devanahaaraa |1|
The Lord is the Giver, the Restrainer of the ego. ||1||
ਜੋ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਉ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
charan kamal siau laagau nehu |
I am in love with the Lord's lotus feet.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਏਹ ॥੨॥੪॥੫੮॥
naanak kee benantee eh |2|4|58|
This alone is Nanak's prayer. ||2||4||58||
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ) ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੪॥੫੮॥
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Dhanaasaree, Ninth Mehl:
ਰਾਗ ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ਕਾਹੇ ਰੇ ਬਨ ਖੋਜਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
kaahe re ban khojan jaaee |
Why do you go looking for Him in the forest?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ) ਲੱਭਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਲੇਪਾ ਤੋਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab nivaasee sadaa alepaa tohee sang samaaee |1| rahaau |
Although he is unattached, he dwells everywhere. He is always with you as your companion. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਪੁਹਪ ਮਧਿ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਮੁਕਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਛਾਈ ॥
puhap madh jiau baas basat hai mukar maeh jaise chhaaee |
Like the fragrance which remains in the flower, and like the reflection in the mirror,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ) ਅਕਸ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤੈਸੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਸੇ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥
taise hee har base nirantar ghatt hee khojahu bhaaee |1|
the Lord dwells deep within search for Him within your own heart, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ॥੧॥
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਤਾਈ ॥
baahar bheetar eko jaanahu ihu gur giaan bataaee |
Outside and inside, know that there is only the One Lord the Guru has imparted this wisdom to me.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ) ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਸਮਝੋ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਪਾ ਚੀਨੈ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਕਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥
jan naanak bin aapaa cheenai mittai na bhram kee kaaee |2|1|
O servant Nanak, without knowing one's own self, the moss of doubt is not removed. ||2||1||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨ ਉੱਤੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਜਾਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ (ਤੇ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ) ॥੨॥੧॥

ਸਾਧੋ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ ॥
saadho ihu jag bharam bhulaanaa |
O Holy people, this world is deluded by doubt.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਇਹ ਜਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ (ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਕਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

It has forsaken the meditative remembrance of the Lord's Name, and sold itself out to Maya. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਛੱਡੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਗਵਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥
maat pitaa bhaaee sut banitaa taa kai ras lapattaanaa |
Mother, father, siblings, children and spouse - he is entangled in their love.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮਾਂ, ਪਿਉ, ਭਰਾ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ-(ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਗਤ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
