ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੩॥

and through it, my honor was totally preserved. ||3||
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਢਹੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ) ॥੩॥
ਬੋਲਾਇਆ ਬੋਲੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥

I speak as You cause me to speak
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੇਰਾ ॥

O Lord and Master, You are the ocean of excellence.
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
jap naanak naam sach saakhee |
Nanak chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, according to the Teachings of Truth.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਾਮੀ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਾਖੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੬॥
apune daas kee paij raakhee |4|6|56|
God preserves the honor of His slaves. ||4||6||56||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ (ਸਦਾ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੬॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:
ਵਿਚਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਖਲੋਆ ॥
vich karataa purakh khaloaa |
The Creator Lord Himself stood between us,
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਵਾਲੁ ਨ ਵਿੰਗਾ ਹੋਆ ॥
vaal na vingaa hoaa |
and not a hair upon my head was touched.
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਦਾ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਮਜਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਆਂਦਾ ਰਾਸੇ ॥

The Guru made my cleansing bath successful
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਫਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
jap har har kilavikh naase |1|
meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, my sins were erased. ||1||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਸਰੋਵਰੁ ਨੀਕਾ ॥

O Saints, the purifying pool of Ram Das is sublime.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ (ਇਕ) ਸੁੰਦਰ (ਅਸਥਾਨ) ਹੈ।
ਜੋ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕੁਲੁ ਤਰਾਵੈ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਹੈ ਜੀ ਕਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo naavai so kul taraavai udhaar hoaa hai jee kaa |1| rahaau |
Whoever bathes in it, his family and ancestry are saved, and his soul is saved as well. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਆਤਮਕ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਗੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
jai jai kaar jag gaavai |
The world sings cheers of victory,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
man chindiarre fal paavai |
and the fruits of his mind's desires are obtained.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਨ-ਚਿਤਵੇ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਹੀ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਨਾਇ ਆਏ ॥
sahee salaamat naae aae |
Whoever comes and bathes here,
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਸਤਸੰਗ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਧਿਆਏ ॥੨॥
apanaa prabhoo dhiaae |2|
And meditates on his God, is safe and sound. ||2||
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
sant sarovar naavai |
One who bathes in the healing pool of the Saints,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਆਤਮਕ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
so jan param gat paavai |
that humble being obtains the supreme status.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥
marai na aavai jaaee |
He does not die, or come and go in reincarnation
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
har har naam dhiaaee |3|
he meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਇਹੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ਸੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
eihu braham bichaar su jaanai |
He alone knows this about God,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ॥
jis deaal hoe bhagavaanai |
whom God blesses with His kindness.
ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
baabaa naanak prabh saranaaee |
Baba Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਭ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਗਣਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੭॥
sabh chintaa ganat mittaaee |4|7|57|
all his worries and anxieties are dispelled. ||4||7||57||
ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥੫੭॥

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ਪੂਰੀ ॥

The Supreme Lord God has stood by me and fulfilled me,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤੋੜ ਤਕ ਨਿਬਾਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਈ ਬਾਤ ਨ ਰਹੀਆ ਊਰੀ ॥
kaaee baat na raheea aooree |
and nothing is left unfinished.
ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥
gur charan laae nisataare |
Attached to the Guru's feet, I am saved
ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
har har naam samaare |1|
I contemplate and cherish the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ) ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
apane daas kaa sadaa rakhavaalaa |
He is forever the Savior of His slaves.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa apune kar raakhe maat pitaa jiau paalaa |1| rahaau |
Bestowing His Mercy, He made me His own and preserved me like a mother or father, He cherishes me. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਪੇ (ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
vaddabhaagee satigur paaeaa |
By great good fortune, I found the True Guru,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ (ਉਹ) ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ,
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥
jin jam kaa panth mittaaeaa |
who obliterated the path of the Messenger of Death.
ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਜਮ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
har bhagat bhaae chit laagaa |
My consciousness is focused on loving, devotional worship of the Lord.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ॥੨॥
jap jeeveh se vaddabhaagaa |2|
One who lives in this meditation is very fortunate indeed. ||2||
ਉਹ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
har amrit baanee gaavai |
He sings the Ambrosial Word of the Guru's Bani,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਧਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੀ ਨਾਵੈ ॥
saadhaa kee dhooree naavai |
and bathes in the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਸੇਵਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਅਪੁਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੀਆ ॥
apunaa naam aape deea |
He Himself bestows His Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਰਖਿ ਲੀਆ ॥੩॥
prabh karanahaar rakh leea |3|
God, the Creator, saves us. ||3||
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਦਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
har darasan praan adhaaraa |
The Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan is the support of the breath of life.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੀ (ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਬਿਮਲ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
eihu pooran bimal beechaaraa |
This is the perfect, pure wisdom.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
kar kirapaa antarajaamee |
The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, has granted His Mercy
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ,
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੪॥੮॥੫੮॥
daas naanak saran suaamee |4|8|58|
slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of his Lord and Master. ||4||8||58||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥੪॥੮॥੫੮॥

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਚਰਨੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

The Perfect Guru has attached me to His feet.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
har sang sahaaee paaeaa |
I have obtained the Lord as my companion, my support, my best friend.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, (ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ) ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ।
ਜਹ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥
jeh jaaeeai tahaa suhele |
Wherever I go, I am happy there.
(ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹੀਏ, ਤਾਂ) ਜਿੱਥੇ ਭੀ ਜਾਈਏ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੀ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲੇ ॥੧॥

By His Kind Mercy, God united me with Himself. ||1||
(ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
har gun gaavahu sadaa subhaaee |
So sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord with loving devotion.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ।
ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man chinde sagale fal paavahu jeea kai sang sahaaee |1| rahaau |
You shall obtain all the fruits of your mind's desires, and the Lord shall become the companion and the support of your soul. ||1||Pause||
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੇ ਫਲ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਸਾਥੀ (ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥
naaraaein praan adhaaraa |
The Lord is the support of the breath of life.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ (ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਹਮ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਰੇਨਾਰਾ ॥
ham sant janaan renaaraa |
I am the dust of the feet of the Holy people.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਨੇ ॥
patit puneet kar leene |
I am a sinner, but the Lord made me pure.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਦੀਨੇ ॥੨॥
kar kirapaa har jas deene |2|
By His Kind Mercy, the Lord blessed me with His Praises. ||2||
(ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
paarabraham kare pratipaalaa |
The Supreme Lord God cherishes and nurtures me.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਦ ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
sad jeea sang rakhavaalaa |
He is always with me, the Protector of my soul.
ਸਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਖਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
har din rain keeratan gaaeeai |
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises day and night,
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
bahurr na jonee paaeeai |3|
I shall not be consigned to reincarnation again. ||3||
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਈਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
jis devai purakh bidhaataa |
One who is blessed by the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny,
(ਪਰ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ (ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
har ras tin hee jaataa |
realizes the subtle essence of the Lord.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ (ਕਦਰ ਜਾਣੀ ਹੈ)।
ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
jamakankar nerr na aaeaa |
The Messenger of Death does not come near him.
ਜਮ-ਦੂਤ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ।
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੯॥੫੯॥
sukh naanak saranee paaeaa |4|9|59|
In the Lord's Sanctuary, Nanak has found peace. ||4||9||59||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੯॥੫੯॥
