ਜਉ ਮੈ ਰੂਪ ਕੀਏ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਅਬ ਫੁਨਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
jau mai roop kee bahutere ab fun roop na hoee |
In the past, I have taken many forms, but I shall not take form again.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਤਾਗਾ ਤੰਤੁ ਸਾਜੁ ਸਭੁ ਥਾਕਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਸਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥
taagaa tant saaj sabh thaakaa raam naam bas hoee |1|
The strings and wires of the musical instrument are worn out, and I am in the power of the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਧਾਗਾ, ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਤਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਸਭ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਾਚਨੋ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
ab mohi naachano na aavai |
Now, I no longer dance to the tune.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੇ) ਨੱਚਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ,
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਰੀਆ ਨ ਬਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
meraa man mandareea na bajaavai |1| rahaau |
My mind no longer beats the drum. ||1||Pause||
ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਇਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਢੋਲਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਜਾਉਂਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਲੈ ਜਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਗਾਗਰਿ ਫੂਟੀ ॥
kaam krodh maaeaa lai jaaree trisanaa gaagar foottee |
I have burnt away sexual desire, anger and attachment to Maya, and the pitcher of my desires has burst.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਮਟਕੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
ਕਾਮ ਚੋਲਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ਗਇਆ ਭਰਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਛੂਟੀ ॥੨॥
kaam cholanaa bheaa hai puraanaa geaa bharam sabh chhoottee |2|
The gown of sensuous pleasures is worn out, and all my doubts have been dispelled. ||2||
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਝਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਹੁਣ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ। (ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਗੱਲ), ਸਾਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਹੀ) ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਰਬ ਭੂਤ ਏਕੈ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਚੂਕੇ ਬਾਦ ਬਿਬਾਦਾ ॥
sarab bhoot ekai kar jaaniaa chooke baad bibaadaa |
I look upon all beings alike, and my conflict and strife are ended.
ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੁਣ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਏ ਰਾਮ ਪਰਸਾਦਾ ॥੩॥੬॥੨੮॥
keh kabeer mai pooraa paaeaa bhe raam parasaadaa |3|6|28|
Says Kabeer, when the Lord showed His Favor, I obtained Him, the Perfect One. ||3||6||28||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੬॥੨੮॥

ਰੋਜਾ ਧਰੈ ਮਨਾਵੈ ਅਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਦਤਿ ਜੀਅ ਸੰਘਾਰੈ ॥
rojaa dharai manaavai alahu suaadat jeea sanghaarai |
You keep your fasts to please Allah, while you murder other beings for pleasure.
(ਕਾਜ਼ੀ) ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਰੋਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਤੇ ਈਦ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ) ਅੱਲਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਇਹ) ਜੀਵ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਅਵਰ ਨਹੀ ਦੇਖੈ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਝਖ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
aapaa dekh avar nahee dekhai kaahe kau jhakh maarai |1|
You look after your own interests, and so not see the interests of others. What good is your word? ||1||
ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਉੱਦਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਝਖਾਂ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਜੀ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਏਕੁ ਤੋਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੋਚਿ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ਨ ਦੇਖੈ ॥
kaajee saahib ek tohee meh teraa soch bichaar na dekhai |
O Qazi, the One Lord is within you, but you do not behold Him by thought or contemplation.
ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ! (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਮਾਲਕ ਇੱਕ ਰੱਬ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਭੀ ਰੱਬ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਸੋਚ-ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਦੀਨ ਕੇ ਬਉਰੇ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਲੇਖੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
khabar na kareh deen ke baure taa te janam alekhai |1| rahaau |
You do not care for others, you are a religious fanatic, and your life is of no account at all. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸ਼ਰਹ ਵਿਚ ਕਮਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ! ਤੂੰ (ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਚੁ ਕਤੇਬ ਬਖਾਨੈ ਅਲਹੁ ਨਾਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ॥
saach kateb bakhaanai alahu naar purakh nahee koee |
Your holy scriptures say that Allah is True, and that he is neither male nor female.
ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ! ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮਜ਼ਹਬੀ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅੱਲਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ (ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਅੱਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਅੱਲਾਹ ਦੇ (ਨੂਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀ ਮਰਦ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਪਢੇ ਗੁਨੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਬਉਰੇ ਜਉ ਦਿਲ ਮਹਿ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
padte gune naahee kachh baure jau dil meh khabar na hoee |2|
But you gain nothing by reading and studying, O mad-man, if you do not gain the understanding in your heart. ||2||
ਪਰ ਹੇ ਕਮਲੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ! ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਈ ਤਾਂ (ਮਜ਼ਹਬੀ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਾ) ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੨॥
ਅਲਹੁ ਗੈਬੁ ਸਗਲ ਘਟ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਲੇਹੁ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
alahu gaib sagal ghatt bheetar hiradai lehu bichaaree |
Allah is hidden in every heart reflect upon this in your mind.
ਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ! ਰੱਬ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲੈ,
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਹੂੰ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੈ ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰ ਪੁਕਾਰੀ ॥੩॥੭॥੨੯॥
hindoo turak duhoon meh ekai kahai kabeer pukaaree |3|7|29|
The One Lord is within both Hindu and Muslim Kabeer proclaims this out loud. ||3||7||29||
ਕਬੀਰ ਉੱਚੀ ਕੂਕ ਕੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਪੂਰੇ ਯਕੀਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ), ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਇੱਕ ਉਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੭॥੨੯॥
ਆਸਾ ॥ ਤਿਪਦਾ ॥ ਇਕਤੁਕਾ ॥

Aasaa, Ti-Pada, Ik-Tuka:
ਕੀਓ ਸਿੰਗਾਰੁ ਮਿਲਨ ਕੇ ਤਾਈ ॥
keeo singaar milan ke taaee |
I have decorated myself to meet my Husband Lord.
ਮੈਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਹਾਰ-ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਲਾਇਆ,
ਹਰਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥੧॥
har na mile jagajeevan gusaaee |1|
But the Lord, the Life of the Word, the Sustainer of the Universe, has not come to meet me. ||1||
ਪਰ ਜਗਤ-ਦੀ-ਜਿੰਦ ਜਗਤ-ਦੇ-ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਜੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਰੀਆ ॥
har mero pir hau har kee bahureea |
The Lord is my Husband, and I am the Lord's bride.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਜਿਹੀ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਹਾਂ।
ਰਾਮ ਬਡੇ ਮੈ ਤਨਕ ਲਹੁਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam badde mai tanak lahureea |1| rahaau |
The Lord is so great, and I am infinitesimally small. ||1||Pause||
(ਮੇਰਾ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਮੇਰਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਿੱਕੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਬਾਲੜੀ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਏਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥
dhan pir ekai sang baseraa |
The bride and the Groom dwell together.
(ਮੈਂ ਜੀਵ-) ਵਹੁਟੀ ਤੇ ਖਸਮ (-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਇੱਕੋ ਥਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ,
ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਪੈ ਮਿਲਨੁ ਦੁਹੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
sej ek pai milan duheraa |2|
They lie upon the one bed, but their union is difficult. ||2||
ਸਾਡੀ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਜ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਨਿ ਜੋ ਪੀਅ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
dhan suhaagan jo peea bhaavai |
Blessed is the soul-bride, who is pleasing to her Husband Lord.
ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਜੋ ਖਸਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੩॥੮॥੩੦॥
keh kabeer fir janam na aavai |3|8|30|
Says Kabeer, she shall not have to be reincarnated again. ||3||8||30||
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਉਹ (ਜੀਵ-) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਫਿਰ ਜਨਮ (ਮਰਨ) ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ॥੩॥੮॥੩੦॥
ਆਸਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ਦੁਪਦੇ ॥
aasaa sree kabeer jeeo ke dupade |
Aasaa Of Kabeer Jee, Dho-Padhay:
ਰਾਗ ਆਸਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਦੋ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੀਰੈ ਹੀਰਾ ਬੇਧਿ ਪਵਨ ਮਨੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
heerai heeraa bedh pavan man sahaje rahiaa samaaee |
When the Diamond of the Lord pierces the diamond of my mind, the fickle mind waving in the wind is easily absorbed into Him.
ਜਦੋਂ (ਜੀਵ-) ਹੀਰਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-) ਹੀਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਨ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਗਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਇਨਿ ਹੀਰੈ ਬੇਧੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਮੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
sagal jot in heerai bedhee satigur bachanee mai paaee |1|
This Diamond fills all with Divine Light through the True Guru's Teachings, I have found Him. ||1||
ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਹੀਰਾ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ-ਜੰਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਅਨਾਹਦ ਬਾਨੀ ॥
har kee kathaa anaahad baanee |
The sermon of the Lord is the unstruck, endless song.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ-
ਹੰਸੁ ਹੁਇ ਹੀਰਾ ਲੇਇ ਪਛਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hans hue heeraa lee pachhaanee |1| rahaau |
Becoming a swan, one recognizes the Diamond of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਹੰਸ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-) ਹੀਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੰਸ ਮੋਤੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਹੀਰਾ ਅਸ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਜਗ ਮਹ ਰਹਾ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
keh kabeer heeraa as dekhio jag meh rahaa samaaee |
Says Kabeer, I have seen such a Diamond, permeating and pervading the world.
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਹੀਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਪਤਾ ਹੀਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਇਓ ਜਬ ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੧॥
gupataa heeraa pragatt bheo jab gur gam deea dikhaaee |2|1|31|
The hidden diamond became visible, when the Guru revealed it to me. ||2||1||31||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਾਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਹੀਰਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ) ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀਰਾ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ) ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੧॥

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਲਖਨੀ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਪੇਈਐ ਬੁਰੀ ॥

My first wife, ignorance, was ugly, of low social status and bad character she was evil in my home, and in her parents' home.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਭੈੜੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੀ, ਚੰਦਰੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਜੰਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੇ ਚੰਦਰੇ ਲੱਛਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਚੰਦਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਭੈੜੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸੀ।
ਅਬ ਕੀ ਸਰੂਪਿ ਸੁਜਾਨਿ ਸੁਲਖਨੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਉਦਰਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੧॥
ab kee saroop sujaan sulakhanee sahaje udar dharee |1|
My present bride, divine understanding, is beautiful, wise and well-behaved I have taken her to my heart. ||1||
ਜਿਹੜੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਾਈ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੀ, ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਛਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਭਲੀ ਸਰੀ ਮੁਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਬਰੀ ॥

It has turned out so well, that my first wife has died.
ਚੰਗਾ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਹ ਮਾਨੋ-ਬਿਰਤੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੀਵਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਅਬ ਕੀ ਧਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

May she, whom I have now married, live throughout the ages. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ, ਰੱਬ ਕਰੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਜੀਂਦੀ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਬ ਲਹੁਰੀ ਆਈ ਬਡੀ ਕਾ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ਟਰਿਓ ॥
kahu kabeer jab lahuree aaee baddee kaa suhaag ttario |
Says Kabeer, when the younger bride came, the elder one lost her husband.
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਗਰੀਬੜੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰਨ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਟਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਲਹੁਰੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਈ ਅਬ ਮੇਰੈ ਜੇਠੀ ਅਉਰੁ ਧਰਿਓ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੨॥
lahuree sang bhee ab merai jetthee aaur dhario |2|2|32|
The younger bride is with me now, and the elder one has taken another husband. ||2||2||32||
ਇਹ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੱਤ ਹੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ-ਬੁੱਧੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਜਾ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੨॥
