ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so naam japai jo jan tudh bhaavai |1| rahaau |
He alone is pleasing to Your Will, who chants the Naam. ||1||Pause||
(ਪਰ) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
tan man seetal jap naam teraa |
My body and mind are cooled and soothed, chanting the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਰੀਰ (ਭੀ, ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਭੀ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਤ ਢਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਡੇਰਾ ॥੨॥
har har japat dtahai dukh dderaa |2|
Meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, the house of pain is demolished. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਈ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
hukam boojhai soee paravaan |
He alone, who understands the Command of the Lord's Will, is approved.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਖਿੜੇ-ਮੱਥੇ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨੀਸਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
saach sabad jaa kaa neesaan |3|
The True Shabad of the Word of God is his trademark and insignia. ||3||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥
gur poorai har naam drirraaeaa |
The Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord's Name within me.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੮॥੫੯॥
bhanat naanak merai man sukh paaeaa |4|8|59|
Prays Nanak, my mind has found peace. ||4||8||59||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੮॥੫੯॥

ਜਹਾ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਜਾਈਂ ॥
jahaa patthaavahu teh teh jaaenee |
Wherever You send me, there I go.
(ਹੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ! ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਿਧਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਧਰ ਉਧਰ ਹੀ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ) ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਜੋ ਤੁਮ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਂ ॥੧॥
jo tum dehu soee sukh paaenee |1|
Whatever You give me, brings me peace. ||1||
(ਸੁਖ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੋਵੇ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਸੁਖ (ਜਾਣ ਕੇ) ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਸਦਾ ਚੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥
sadaa chere govind gosaaee |
I am forever the chaylaa, the humble disciple, of the Lord of the Universe, the Sustainer of the World.
ਹੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਗੋਸਾਈਂ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ) ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ,
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumaree kripaa te tripat aghaaenee |1| rahaau |
By Your Grace, I am satisfied and satiated. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮਰਾ ਦੀਆ ਪੈਨੑਉ ਖਾਈਂ ॥
tumaraa deea painau khaaenee |
Whatever You give me, I wear and eat.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਪਹਿਨਣ ਨੂੰ, ਖਾਣ ਨੂੰ,) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਮੈਂ (ਸੰਤੋਖ ਨਾਲ) ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਲਾਈਂ ॥੨॥
tau prasaad prabh sukhee valaaenee |2|
By Your Grace, O God, my life passes peacefully. ||2||
ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ) ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੁਝੈ ਧਿਆਈਂ ॥
man tan antar tujhai dhiaaenee |
Deep within my mind and body, I meditate on You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਤੁਮੑਰੈ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਲਾਈਂ ॥੩॥
tumarai lavai na koaoo laaenee |3|
I recognize none as equal to You. ||3||
ਤੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਤ ਇਵੈ ਧਿਆਈਂ ॥
kahu naanak nit ivai dhiaaenee |
Says Nanak, this is my continual meditation:
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਤੇ) ਆਖ-(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੰਤਹ ਲਗਿ ਪਾਈਂ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੦॥
gat hovai santah lag paaenee |4|9|60|
that I may be emancipated, clinging to the Feet of the Saints. ||4||9||60||
(ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹੇ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੦॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
aootthat baitthat sovat dhiaaeeai |
While standing up, and sitting down, and even while asleep, meditate on the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ (ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਤ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੧॥
maarag chalat hare har gaaeeai |1|
Walking on the Way, sing the Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਰਸਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨੀਜੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ॥
sravan suneejai amrit kathaa |
With your ears, listen to the Ambrosial Sermon.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਾਸੁ ਸੁਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਮਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਲਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaas sunee man hoe anandaa dookh rog man sagale lathaa |1| rahaau |
Listening to it, your mind shall be filled with bliss, and the troubles and diseases of your mind shall all depart. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਾਰਜਿ ਕਾਮਿ ਬਾਟ ਘਾਟ ਜਪੀਜੈ ॥
kaaraj kaam baatt ghaatt japeejai |
While you work at your job, on the road and at the beach, meditate and chant.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਾਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ, ਰਾਹੇ ਤੁਰਦਿਆਂ, ਪੱਤਣ ਲੰਘਦਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
gur prasaad har amrit peejai |2|
By Guru's Grace, drink in the Ambrosial Essence of the Lord. ||2||
ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
dinas rain har keeratan gaaeeai |
The humble being who sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, day and night,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਵਾਟ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
so jan jam kee vaatt na paaeeai |3|
does not have to go with the Messenger of Death. ||3||
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁੱਕਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
aatth pehar jis visareh naahee |
One who does not forget the Lord, twenty-four hours a day, is emancipated
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਕਿਸੇ (ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ) ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਸਰਦਾ,
ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੧॥
gat hovai naanak tis lag paaee |4|10|61|
O Nanak, I fall at his feet. ||4||10||61||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ (ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੧॥

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
jaa kai simaran sookh nivaas |
Remembering Him in meditation, one abides in peace
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ) ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਖ ਦਾ ਵਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਭਈ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਦੁਖ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
bhee kaliaan dukh hovat naas |1|
one becomes happy, and suffering is ended. ||1||
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ-ਸਾਂਦ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥
anad karahu prabh ke gun gaavahu |
Celebrate, make merry, and sing God's Glories.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
satigur apanaa sad sadaa manaavahu |1| rahaau |
Forever and ever, surrender to the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੋ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਵਹੁ ॥
satigur kaa sach sabad kamaavahu |
Act in accordance with the Shabad, the True Word of the True Guru.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੋ (ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਘੜਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਥਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥
thir ghar baitthe prabh apanaa paavahu |2|
Remain steady and stable within the home of your own self, and find God. ||2||
ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹੋਗੇ (ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏਗੀ) ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਵੋਗੇ ॥੨॥
ਪਰ ਕਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਚੀਤ ॥
par kaa buraa na raakhahu cheet |
Do not harbor evil intentions against others in your mind,
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਨਾਹ ਚਿਤਵਿਆ ਕਰੋ।
ਤੁਮ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥
tum kau dukh nahee bhaaee meet |3|
and you shall not be troubled, O Siblings of Destiny, O friends. ||3||
(ਕਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਦਿਓ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕੇਗਾ ॥੩॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੰਤੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੑਾ ॥
har har tant mant gur deenaa |
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is the Tantric exercise, and the Mantra, given by the Guru.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਟੂਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੰਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਚੀਨੑਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੨॥
eihu sukh naanak anadin cheenaa |4|11|62|
Nanak knows this peace alone, night and day. ||4||11||62||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਉਹ ਮੰਤਰਾਂ ਟੂਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੨॥
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਿਸੁ ਨੀਚ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
jis neech kau koee na jaanai |
That wretched being, whom no one knows
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣਦਾ-ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਹੁ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਮਾਨੈ ॥੧॥
naam japat uhu chahu kuntt maanai |1|
- chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he is honored in the four directions. ||1||
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਾਗਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
darasan maagau dehi piaare |
I beg for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan please, give it to me, O Beloved!
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਹ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਉਨ ਕਉਨ ਨ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tumaree sevaa kaun kaun na taare |1| rahaau |
Serving You, who, who has not been saved? ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
jaa kai nikatt na aavai koee |
That person, whom no one wants to be near
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਕੰਗਾਲ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਢੁਕਦਾ,
ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਆ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਈ ॥੨॥
sagal srisatt uaa ke charan mal dhoee |2|
- the whole world comes to wash the dirt of his feet. ||2||
(ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਫਿਰ) ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਮਲ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਧੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਮ ॥
jo praanee kaahoo na aavat kaam |
That mortal, who is of no use to anyone at all
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ,
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
sant prasaad taa ko japeeai naam |3|
- by the Grace of the Saints, he meditates on the Naam. ||3||
(ਹੁਣ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗੇ ॥
saadhasang man sovat jaage |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the sleeping mind awakens.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ)
ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੀਠੇ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੩॥

Then, O Nanak, God seems sweet. ||4||12||63||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੩॥
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੀ ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਰਉ ॥
eko ekee nain nihaarau |
With my eyes, I behold the One and Only Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਉ ॥੧॥
sadaa sadaa har naam samaarau |1|
Forever and ever, I contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
