ਸੋਈ ਅਜਾਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਮੈ ਜਾਨਾ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰੁ ਨ ਛਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥
soee ajaan kahai mai jaanaa jaananahaar na chhaanaa re |
One who claims to know, is ignorant he does not know the Knower of all.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਨਿਰਾ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ) ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਸਚਮੁਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਗੁੱਝਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਅਮਿਉ ਪੀਆਇਆ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਬਿਗਸਾਨਾ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੪॥
kahu naanak gur amiau peeaeaa rasak rasak bigasaanaa re |4|5|44|
Says Nanak, the Guru has given me the Ambrosial Nectar to drink in savoring it and relishing it, I blossom forth in bliss. ||4||5||44||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣ ਮਾਣ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੪॥

ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ਅਉਗਨ ਅਪਨਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਸਮੑਾਰਿਆ ॥
bandhan kaatt bisaare aaugan apanaa birad samaariaa |
He has cut away my bonds, and overlooked my shortcomings, and so He has confirmed His nature.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ) ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹੋਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤ ਨਿਆਈ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
hoe kripaal maat pit niaaee baarik jiau pratipaariaa |1|
Becoming merciful to me, like a mother or a father, he has come to cherish me as His own child. ||1||
ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਰਾਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਿ ॥

The GurSikhs are preserved by the Guru, by the Lord of the Universe.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ) ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਜਗਤ-ਪਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ਮਹਾ ਭਵਜਲ ਤੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaadt lee mahaa bhavajal te apanee nadar nihaal |1| rahaau |
He rescues them from the terrible world ocean, casting His Glance of Grace upon them. ||1||Pause||
ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
jaa kai simaran jam te chhutteeai halat palat sukh paaeeai |
Meditating in remembrance on Him, we escape from the Messenger of Death here and hereafter, we obtain peace.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਈਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
saas giraas japahu jap rasanaa neet neet gun gaaeeai |2|
With every breath and morsel of food, meditate, and chant with your tongue, continually, each and every day sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ। ਆਉ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ॥੨॥
ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ॥
bhagat prem param pad paaeaa saadhasang dukh naatthe |
Through loving devotional worship, the supreme status is obtained, and in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, sorrows are dispelled.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਛਿਜੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਗਾਠੇ ॥੩॥
chhijai na jaae kichh bhau na biaape har dhan niramal gaatthe |3|
I am not worn down, I do not die, and nothing strikes fear in me, since I have the wealth of the Lord's Immaculate Name in my purse. ||3||
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੋਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ, ਉਹ ਧਨ ਘਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਧਨ ਗੁਆਚਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੩॥
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥
ant kaal prabh bhe sahaaee it ut raakhanahaare |
At the very last moment, God becomes the mortal's Help and Support here and hereafter, He is the Savior Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ (ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਅੰਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਭੀ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮੀਤ ਹੀਤ ਧਨੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੫॥
praan meet heet dhan merai naanak sad balihaare |4|6|45|
He is my breath of life, my friend, support and wealth O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||6||45||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਐਸਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਹਿਤੂ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੪੫॥

ਜਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਤਾ ਭਉ ਕੇਹਾ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
jaa toon saahib taa bhau kehaa hau tudh bin kis saalaahee |
Since You are my Lord and Master, what is there for me to fear? Other than You, who else should I praise?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ (ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖੀ ਰੱਖੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ-ਜ਼ਹਰ ਤੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਡਰ-ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ (ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ-ਜ਼ਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ)।
ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਮੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
ek toon taa sabh kichh hai mai tudh bin doojaa naahee |1|
You are the One and only, and so do all things exist without You, there is nothing at all for me. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਇਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਰਹੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਸ਼ੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਹੈ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਸਹਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਬਾਬਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
baabaa bikh dekhiaa sansaar |
O Father, I have seen that the world is poison.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
rakhiaa karahu gusaaee mere mai naam teraa aadhaar |1| rahaau |
Save me, O Lord of the Universe! Your Name is my only Support. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਇਸ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾਣਹਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਸਭਾ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ॥
jaaneh birathaa sabhaa man kee hor kis peh aakh sunaaeeai |
You know completely the condition of my mind who else could I go to tell of it?
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਪੀੜਾ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
vin naavai sabh jag bauraaeaa naam milai sukh paaeeai |2|
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the whole world has gone crazy obtaining the Naam, it finds peace. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਝੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ਜਿ ਕਹਣਾ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
kiaa kaheeai kis aakh sunaaeeai ji kahanaa su prabh jee paas |
What shall I say? Unto whom shall I speak? What I have to say, I say to God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਆਖਣਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ)।
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ॥੩॥
sabh kichh keetaa teraa varatai sadaa sadaa teree aas |3|
Everything which exists was created by You. You are my hope, forever and ever. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸਾਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਆਸ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਉ ॥
je dehi vaddiaaee taa teree vaddiaaee it ut tujheh dhiaau |
If you bestow greatness, then it is Your greatness here and hereafter, I meditate on You.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਣ-ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਖਿਲਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥੭॥੪੬॥
naanak ke prabh sadaa sukhadaate mai taan teraa ik naau |4|7|46|
The Lord God of Nanak is forever the Giver of peace Your Name is my only strength. ||4||7||46||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭॥੪੬॥

amrit naam tumaaraa tthaakur ehu mahaa ras janeh peeo |
Your Name is Ambrosial Nectar, O Lord Master Your humble servant drinks in this supreme elixir.
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਲ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ) ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ-ਰਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਚੂਕੇ ਭੈ ਭਾਰੇ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਬਿਨਾਸਿਓ ਭਰਮੁ ਬੀਓ ॥੧॥
janam janam chooke bhai bhaare durat binaasio bharam beeo |1|
The fearful load of sins from countless incarnations has vanished doubt and duality are also dispelled. ||1||
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੀਤਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਭਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੂਜੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੧॥
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਮੈ ਜੀਓ ॥

ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਰੁ ਥੀਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Listening to Your Words, O True Guru, my mind and body are cooled and soothed. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਤਨ ਠੰਡਾ-ਠਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮੑਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਏਹੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਤੁਮੑ ਆਪਿ ਕੀਓ ॥
tumaree kripaa te bheo saadhasang ehu kaaj tuma aap keeo |
By Your Grace, I have joined the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy You Yourself have caused this to happen.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੋਈ, ਇਹ (ਸੋਹਣਾ) ਕੰਮ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ,
ਦਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮੑਰੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਭਈ ਖੀਓ ॥੨॥
dirr kar charan gahe prabh tumare sahaje bikhiaa bhee kheeo |2|
Holding fast to Your Feet, O God, the poison is easily neutralized. ||2||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਫੜ ਲਏ, ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ਤੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਏਹੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਲੀਓ ॥
sukh nidhaan naam prabh tumaraa ehu abinaasee mantru leeo |
Your Name, O God, is the treasure of peace I have received this everlasting Mantra.
ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਪਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨਾ ਤਾਪੁ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੈਰੁ ਗੀਓ ॥੩॥
kar kirapaa mohi satigur deenaa taap santaap meraa bair geeo |3|
Showing His Mercy, the True Guru has given it to me, and my fever and pain and hatred are annulled. ||3||
ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਵੈਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਪਾਈ ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੀਓ ॥
dhan su maanas dehee paaee jit prabh apanai mel leeo |
Blessed is the attainment of this human body, by which God blends Himself with me.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ।
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੀਓ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੭॥
dhan su kalijug saadhasang keeratan gaaeeai naanak naam adhaar heeo |4|8|47|
Blessed, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, is the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, where the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are sung.O Nanak, the Naam is my only Support. ||4||8||47||
(ਲੋਕ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ) ਇਹ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਭੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੭॥
