ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੰਤ ॥
mat pooree paradhaan te gur poore man mant |
Perfect is the intellect, and most distinguished is the reputation, of those whose minds are filled with the Mantra of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਦੀ) ਪੂਰੀ (ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲੀ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਵਿਚ) ਮੰਨੇ-ਪਰਮੰਨੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੁਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੧॥
jih jaanio prabh aapunaa naanak te bhagavant |1|
Those who come to know their God, O Nanak, are very fortunate. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

ਮਮਾ ਜਾਹੂ ਮਰਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥
mamaa jaahoo maram pachhaanaa |
MAMMA: Those who understand God's mystery are satisfied,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ) ਪੂਰਾ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ ॥

joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ (ਇਹ) ਭੇਤ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ (ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੈ।)
ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਉਆ ਕੈ ਸਮਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
dukh sukh uaa kai samat beechaaraa |
They look upon pleasure and pain as the same.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਜਾਪਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਏ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ)
ਨਰਕ ਸੁਰਗ ਰਹਤ ਅਉਤਾਰਾ ॥

They are exempt from incarnation into heaven or hell.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਣੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਾਹੂ ਸੰਗ ਤਾਹੂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪਾ ॥
taahoo sang taahoo niralepaa |
They live in the world, and yet they are detached from it.
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਭੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਭੀ,
ਪੂਰਨ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ ॥

The Sublime Lord, the Primal Being, is totally pervading each and every heart.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਉਆਹੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
auaa ras meh uaahoo sukh paaeaa |
In His Love, they find peace.
(ਵਿਆਪਕਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਯਕੀਨ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ) ਆਤਮਕ ਰਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਐਸਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪੨॥
naanak lipat nahee tih maaeaa |42|
O Nanak, Maya does not cling to them at all. ||42||
ਕਿ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ॥੪੨॥

ਯਾਰ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਾਜਨਹੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
yaar meet sun saajanahu bin har chhoottan naeh |
Listen, my dear friends and companions: without the Lord, there is no salvation.
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ! ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਸੁਣੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਨੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naanak tih bandhan katte gur kee charanee paeh |1|
O Nanak, one who falls at the Feet of the Guru, has his bonds cut away. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

ਯਯਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧੀਆ ॥
yayaa jatan karat bahu bidheea |
YAYYA: People try all sorts of things,
ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਲਈ) ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਹ ਲਉ ਸਿਧੀਆ ॥
ek naam bin keh lau sidheea |
but without the One Name, how far can they succeed?
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਯਾਹੂ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਹੋਤ ਛੁਟਾਰਾ ॥
yaahoo jatan kar hot chhuttaaraa |
Those efforts, by which emancipation may be attained
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਜਤਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਉਆਹੂ ਜਤਨ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਰਾ ॥
auaahoo jatan saadh sangaaraa |
those efforts are made in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਉਹ ਜਤਨ ਇਹੀ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੋ।
ਯਾ ਉਬਰਨ ਧਾਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ॥
yaa ubaran dhaarai sabh koaoo |
Everyone has this idea of salvation,
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ,
ਉਆਹਿ ਜਪੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਉਬਰ ਨ ਹੋਊ ॥
auaaeh jape bin ubar na hoaoo |
but without meditation, there can be no salvation.
(ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿ) ਹਰ ਕੋਈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਣ ਦੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਯਾਹੂ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਸਮਰਾਥਾ ॥
yaahoo taran taaran samaraathaa |
The All-powerful Lord is the boat to carry us across.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈਂ।
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਨਰਨਾਥਾ ॥
raakh lehu niragun naranaathaa |
O Lord, please save these worthless beings!
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।
ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਜਿਹ ਆਪਿ ਜਨਾਈ ॥
man bach kram jih aap janaaee |
Those whom the Lord Himself instructs in thought, word and deed
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਮਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਆਈ ॥੪੩॥
naanak tih mat pragattee aaee |43|
- O Nanak, their intellect is enlightened. ||43||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉੱਜਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੪੩॥

ਰੋਸੁ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
ros na kaahoo sang karahu aapan aap beechaar |
Do not be angry with anyone else look within your own self instead.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੋ, (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰੋ (ਸੋਧੇ, ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਝਗੜਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਹ ਕੀਹ ਦੋਸ ਹੈ)।
ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਨਾ ਜਗਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
hoe nimaanaa jag rahahu naanak nadaree paar |1|
Be humble in this world, O Nanak, and by His Grace you shall be carried across. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਧੀਰੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਹੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਇਂਗਾ (ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਪੈ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ) ॥੧॥

ਰਾਰਾ ਰੇਨ ਹੋਤ ਸਭ ਜਾ ਕੀ ॥
raaraa ren hot sabh jaa kee |
RARRA: Be the dust under the feet of all.
ਸਾਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਛੁਟੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਕੀ ॥
taj abhimaan chhuttai teree baakee |
Give up your egotistical pride, and the balance of your account shall be written off.
ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ।
ਰਣਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਤਉ ਸੀਝਹਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
ran darageh tau seejheh bhaaee |
Then, you shall win the battle in the Court of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ,
ਜਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
jau guramukh raam naam liv laaee |
As Gurmukh, lovingly attune yourself to the Lord's Name.
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਰਹਤ ਰਹਤ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥
rehat rehat reh jaeh bikaaraa |
Your evil ways shall be slowly and steadily blotted out,
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
gur poore kai sabad apaaraa |
By the Shabad, the Incomparable Word of the Perfect Guru.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਰਾਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
raate rang naam ras maate |
You shall be imbued with the Lord's Love, and intoxicated with the Nectar of the Naam.
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਸੋਧ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ)
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੪੪॥
naanak har gur keenee daate |44|
O Nanak, the Lord, the Guru, has given this gift. ||44||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੪੪॥

ਲਾਲਚ ਝੂਠ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਇਆ ਦੇਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਸ ॥
laalach jhootth bikhai biaadh eaa dehee meh baas |
The afflictions of greed, falsehood and corruption abide in this body.
(ਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ) ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਲਚ ਝੂਠ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੀਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੂਖਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੧॥
har har amrit guramukh peea naanak sookh nivaas |1|
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name, Har, Har, O Nanak, the Gurmukh abides in peace. ||1||
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਲਲਾ ਲਾਵਉ ਅਉਖਧ ਜਾਹੂ ॥
lalaa laavau aaukhadh jaahoo |
LALLA: One who takes the medicine of the Naam, the Name of the Lord,
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਏ,
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤਿਹ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਖਿਨਾਹੂ ॥
dookh darad tih mitteh khinaahoo |
is cured of his pain and sorrow in an instant.
ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਿਹ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਿਤਾਵੈ ॥
naam aaukhadh jih ridai hitaavai |
One whose heart is filled with the medicine of the Naam,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੋਗ-ਨਾਸਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ,
ਤਾਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥
taeh rog supanai nahee aavai |
is not infested with disease, even in his dreams.
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਰੋਗ (ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ।
ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ॥
har aaukhadh sabh ghatt hai bhaaee |
The medicine of the Lord's Name is in all hearts, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦਵਾਈ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਨ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
gur poore bin bidh na banaaee |
Without the Perfect Guru, no one knows how to prepare it.
ਪਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਵਰਤਣ ਦਾ) ਢੰਗ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥

When the Perfect Guru gives the instructions to prepare it,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਦਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਵਰਤਣ ਦਾ) ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਨੀਅਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। (ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਦਵਾਈ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ)
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਥੀਆ ॥੪੫॥
naanak tau fir dookh na theea |45|
then, O Nanak, one does not suffer illness again. ||45||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ (ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪੫॥

ਵਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਊਨ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਠਾਇ ॥
vaasudev sarabatr mai aoon na katahoo tthaae |
The All-pervading Lord is in all places. There is no place where He does not exist.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਣਹੋਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਇ ਦੁਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
antar baahar sang hai naanak kaae duraae |1|
Inside and outside, He is with you. O Nanak, what can be hidden from Him? ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਚੁਫੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ) ਕੋਈ ਲੁਕਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥

ਵਵਾ ਵੈਰੁ ਨ ਕਰੀਐ ਕਾਹੂ ॥

WAWWA: Do not harbor hatred against anyone.
ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ (ਕੋਈ) ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ,
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਮਾਹੂ ॥
ghatt ghatt antar braham samaahoo |
In each and every heart, God is contained.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਵਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿਆ ॥
vaasudev jal thal meh raviaa |
The All-pervading Lord is permeating and pervading the oceans and the land.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ (ਜ਼ੱਰੇ ਜ਼ੱਰੇ ਵਿਚ) ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹੀ ਗਵਿਆ ॥
gur prasaad viralai hee gaviaa |
How rare are those who, by Guru's Grace, sing of Him.
ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਕ) ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਿਹ ਮਨ ਤੇ ॥
vair virodh mitte tih man te |
Hatred and alienation depart from those
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋ ਸੁਨਤੇ ॥
har keeratan guramukh jo sunate |
who, as Gurmukh, listen to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਰਨ ਚਿਹਨ ਸਗਲਹ ਤੇ ਰਹਤਾ ॥
varan chihan sagalah te rahataa |
O Nanak, one who becomes Gurmukh chants the Name of the Lord,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਾਤਿ-ਪਾਤਿ, ਰੂਪ-ਰੇਖ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਤਿ-ਪਾਤਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਰੂਪ-ਰੇਖ ਦੱਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ)।
