Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਰੈ ਦੁਹਕਰਮ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
karai duhakaram dikhaavai hor |
They do their evil deeds, and pretend otherwise
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੁਕ ਕੇ) ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬਾਹਰ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸਾ ਵਿਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਰੁ ॥੧॥
raam kee daragah baadhaa chor |1|
but in the Court of the Lord, they shall be bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਚੋਰ ਸੰਨ੍ਹ ਉਤੇ ਫੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਚੋਰ (ਵਾਂਗ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੈ ਸੋਈ ਰਾਮਾਣਾ ॥
raam ramai soee raamaanaa |
Those who remember the Lord belong to the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ (ਸੇਵਕ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

The One Lord is contained in the water, the land and the sky. ||1||Pause||
(ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਰਾਮ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
antar bikh mukh amrit sunaavai |
Their inner beings are filled with poison, and yet with their mouths, they preach words of Ambrosial Nectar.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਹੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੨॥

Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they are punished and beaten. ||2||
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਜਮ ਦੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਚੋਟਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਅਨਿਕ ਪੜਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥

Hiding behind many screens, they commit acts of corruption,
(ਸਿਮਰਨ-ਹੀਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਰਦਿਆਂ ਪਿਛੇ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੁਕਾ ਕੇ) ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੩॥
khin meh pragatt hohi sansaar |3|
but in an instant, they are revealed to all the world. ||3||
ਪਰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੁਕਰਮ) ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
antar saach naam ras raataa |
Those whose inner beings are true, who are attuned to the ambrosial essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੭੧॥੧੪੦॥
naanak tis kirapaal bidhaataa |4|71|140|
- O Nanak, the Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is merciful to them. ||4||71||140||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭੧॥੧੪੦॥

ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਉਤਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
raam rang kade utar na jaae |
The Lord's Love shall never leave or depart.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ (ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ) ਕਦੇ (ਉਸ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ) ਉਤਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੧॥
gur pooraa jis dee bujhaae |1|
They alone understand, unto whom the Perfect Guru gives it. ||1||
(ਪਰ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥
har rang raataa so man saachaa |
One whose mind is attuned to the Lord's Love is true.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਰੰਗ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

The Love of the Beloved, the Architect of Destiny, is perfect. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
santah sang bais gun gaae |
Sitting in the Society of the Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
taa kaa rang na utarai jaae |2|
The color of His Love shall never fade away. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਰੰਗ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦਾ, ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਹਿਂਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
bin har simaran sukh nahee paaeaa |
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, peace is not found.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ।
ਆਨ ਰੰਗ ਫੀਕੇ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
aan rang feeke sabh maaeaa |3|
All the other loves and tastes of Maya are bland and insipid. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ) ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਰੰਗ ਸਭ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਛੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਗੁਰਿ ਰੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
gur range se bhe nihaal |
Those who are imbued with love by the Guru become happy.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੪॥੭੨॥੧੪੧॥
kahu naanak gur bhe hai deaal |4|72|141|
Says Nanak, the Guru has become merciful to them. ||4||72||141||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੭੨॥੧੪੧॥

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ॥
simarat suaamee kilavikh naase |
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord Master, sinful mistakes are erased,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਿਵਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
sookh sehaj aanand nivaase |1|
and one comes to abide in peace, celestial joy and bliss. ||1||
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਆਨੰਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਭਰੋਸਾ ॥
raam janaa kau raam bharosaa |
The Lord's humble servants place their faith in the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ) ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਭੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all anxieties are dispelled. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਭਰਾਤੀ ॥
saadhasang kachh bhau na bharaatee |
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, there is no fear or doubt.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦੀ,
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
gun gopaal gaaeeeh din raatee |2|
The Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung there, day and night. ||2||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੋਟ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh bandhan chhott |
Granting His Grace, God has released me from bondage.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ-
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਓਟ ॥੩॥
charan kamal kee deenee ott |3|
He has given me the Support of His Lotus Feet. ||3||
(ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਈ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
kahu naanak man bhee parateet |
Says Nanak, faith comes into the mind of His servant,
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਆਸਰੇ ਦਾ) ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਸੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੭੩॥੧੪੨॥
niramal jas peeveh jan neet |4|73|142|
Who continually drinks in the Immaculate Praises of the Lord. ||4||73||142||
ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ (ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥੭੩॥੧੪੨॥

ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
har charanee jaa kaa man laagaa |
Those who keep their minds attached to the Lord's Feet
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
dookh darad bhram taa kaa bhaagaa |1|
- pain, suffering and doubt run away from them. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
har dhan ko vaapaaree pooraa |
Those who deal in the Lord's wealth are perfect.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਡੋਲ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ)
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiseh nivaaje so jan sooraa |1| rahaau |
Those who are honored by the Lord are the true spiritual heroes. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਸੂਰਮਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
jaa kau bhe kripaal gusaaee |
Those humble beings, unto whom the Lord of the Universe shows mercy,
(ਪਰ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ), ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥

fall at the Guru's Feet. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਆ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ॥੨॥
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
sookh sehaj saant aanandaa |
They are blessed with peace, celestial bliss, tranquility and ecstasy
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥

chanting and meditating, they live in supreme bliss. ||3||
ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਨਾਮ ਰਾਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਾਟੀ ॥
naam raas saadh sang khaattee |
In the Saadh Sangat, I have earned the wealth of the Naam.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਕਮਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਦਾ ਕਾਟੀ ॥੪॥੭੪॥੧੪੩॥
kahu naanak prabh apadaa kaattee |4|74|143|
Says Nanak, God has relieved my pain. ||4||74||143||
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੭੪॥੧੪੩॥

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ॥

Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, all suffering is eradicated.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥੧॥

The Lord's Lotus Feet are enshrined within my mind. ||1||
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ॥੧॥
ਉਚਰਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਖ ਬਾਰੀ ॥
aucharahu raam naam lakh baaree |
Chant the Lord's Name, hundreds of thousands of times, O my dear,
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੀਭ! ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਰਹੁ,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit ras peevahu prabh piaaree |1| rahaau |
and drink deeply of the Ambrosial Essence of God. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦੀ ਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥

Peace, celestial bliss, pleasures and the greatest ecstasy are obtained
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੨॥

chanting and meditating, you shall live in supreme bliss. ||2||
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨॥
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਖੋਏ ॥
kaam krodh lobh mad khoe |
Sexual desire, anger, greed and ego are eradicated
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ, ਕਰੋਧ, ਲੋਭ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭ ਧੋਏ ॥੩॥
saadh kai sang kilabikh sabh dhoe |3|
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sinful mistakes are washed away. ||3||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਧੋ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh deen deaalaa |
Grant Your Grace, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭੫॥੧੪੪॥
naanak deejai saadh ravaalaa |4|75|144|
Please bless Nanak with the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||75||144||
