Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
gur kaa sabad raakh man maeh |
Keep the Word of the Guru's Shabad in your mind.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਉਸ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਭ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
naam simar chintaa sabh jaeh |1|
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all anxiety is removed. ||1||
(ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ॥੧॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
bin bhagavant naahee an koe |
Without the Lord God, there is no one else at all.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਭਗਵਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਖੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

He alone preserves and destroys. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

Enshrine the Guru's Feet in your heart.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਵਸਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿਮਤ੍ਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ)।
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਜਪਿ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

Meditate on Him and cross over the ocean of fire. ||2||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ ॥੨॥
ਗੁਰ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
gur moorat siau laae dhiaan |
Focus your meditation on the Guru's Sublime Form.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ,
ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
eehaa aoohaa paaveh maan |3|
Here and hereafter, you shall be honored. ||3||
ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ ॥੩॥
ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਇਆ ॥

Renouncing everything, I have come to the Guru's Sanctuary.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੬੧॥੧੩੦॥
mitte andese naanak sukh paaeaa |4|61|130|
My anxieties are over - O Nanak, I have found peace. ||4||61||130||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬੧॥੧੩੦॥

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਭੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

Remembering Him in meditation, all pains are gone.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਪ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
naam ratan vasai man aae |1|
The jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||
(ਤੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jap man mere govind kee baanee |
O my mind, chant the Bani, the Hymns of the Lord of the Universe.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉੱਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
saadhoo jan raam rasan vakhaanee |1| rahaau |
The Holy People chant the Lord's Name with their tongues. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
eikas bin naahee doojaa koe |
Without the One Lord, there is no other at all.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ),
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
jaa kee drisatt sadaa sukh hoe |2|
By His Glance of Grace, eternal peace is obtained. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾ ਕਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
saajan meet sakhaa kar ek |
Make the One Lord your friend, intimate and companion.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ) ਇੱਕ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣਾ,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਖਰ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੩॥
har har akhar man meh lekh |3|
Write in your mind the Word of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਤੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਖਰ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਕਰ ਲੈ ॥੩॥
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
rav rahiaa sarabat suaamee |
The Lord Master is totally pervading everywhere.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਉਹ) ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੬੨॥੧੩੧॥
gun gaavai naanak antarajaamee |4|62|131|
Nanak sings the Praises of the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||4||62||131||
ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ (ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬੨॥੧੩੧॥

ਭੈ ਮਹਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
bhai meh rachio sabh sansaaraa |
The whole world is engrossed in fear.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਕਿਸੇ ਨ ਕਿਸੇ) ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਦੇ ਹੇਠ ਦਬਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
tis bhau naahee jis naam adhaaraa |1|
Those who have the Naam, the Name of the Lord, as their Support, feel no fear. ||1||
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ (ਕੋਈ) ਡਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਭਉ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
bhau na viaapai teree saranaa |
Fear does not affect those who take to Your Sanctuary.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣ ਪਿਆਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆਂ) ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo tudh bhaavai soee karanaa |1| rahaau |
You do whatever You please. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਸੋਗ ਹਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥
sog harakh meh aavan jaanaa |
In pleasure and in pain, the world is coming and going in reincarnation.
ਦੁੱਖ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਣ ਵਿਚ (ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਦਾ) ਆਉਣਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
tin sukh paaeaa jo prabh bhaanaa |2|
Those who are pleasing to God, find peace. ||2||
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਟਿਕਵਾਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ॥੨॥
ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
agan saagar mahaa viaapai maaeaa |
Maya pervades the awesome ocean of fire.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ) ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
se seetal jin satigur paaeaa |3|
Those who have found the True Guru are calm and cool. ||3||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਇਸ ਅਗਨਿ-ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੀ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ) ਠੰਡੇ-ਠਾਰ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
raakh lee prabh raakhanahaaraa |
Please preserve me, O God, O Great Preserver!
ਬਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਆ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੬੩॥੧੩੨॥
kahu naanak kiaa jant vichaaraa |4|63|132|
Says Nanak, what a helpless creature I am! ||4||63||132||
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ, ਅਗਨਿ-ਸਾਗਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੇਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਹ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਹੈ? (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜੀ ਰੱਖ) ॥੪॥੬੩॥੧੩੨॥

ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਉ ॥
tumaree kripaa te japeeai naau |
By Your Grace, I chant Your Name.
(ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥
tumaree kripaa te daragah thaau |1|
By Your Grace, I obtain a seat in Your Court. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
tujh bin paarabraham nahee koe |
Without You, O Supreme Lord God, there is no one.
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ) ਕੋਈ (ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

By Your Grace, everlasting peace is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਤੁਮ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੇ ਤਉ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
tum man vase tau dookh na laagai |
If You abide in the mind, we do not suffer in sorrow.
(ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸੇਂ ਤਾਂ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥੨॥
tumaree kripaa te bhram bhau bhaagai |2|
By Your Grace, doubt and fear run away. ||2||
ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
paarabraham aparanpar suaamee |
O Supreme Lord God, Infinite Lord and Master,
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੩॥
sagal ghattaa ke antarajaamee |3|
You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of all hearts. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ॥੩॥
ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
krau aradaas apane satigur paas |
I offer this prayer to the True Guru:
(ਜੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ (ਇਹ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

O Nanak, may I be blessed with the treasure of the True Name. ||4||64||133||
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ (ਨਾਨਕ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬੪॥੧੩੩॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਣ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਥੋਥਰ ਤੁਖਾ ॥
kan binaa jaise thothar tukhaa |
As the husk is empty without the grain,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦਾਣਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਤੋਹ (ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।)
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਸੂਨੇ ਸੇ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੧॥
naam bihoon soone se mukhaa |1|
so is the mouth empty without the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
har har naam japahu nit praanee |
O mortal, chant continually the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ।
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਗਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naam bihoon dhrig deh bigaanee |1| rahaau |
Without the Naam, cursed is the body, which shall be taken back by Death. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਜੋ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਮੌਤ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ (ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ) ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
naam binaa naahee mukh bhaag |
Without the Naam, no one's face shows good fortune.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁਲ੍ਹਦਾ।
ਭਰਤ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਹਾ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ॥੨॥

Without the Husband, where is the marriage? ||2||
ਖਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ) ਸੁਹਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗੈ ਅਨ ਸੁਆਇ ॥
naam bisaar lagai an suaae |
Forgetting the Naam, and attached to other tastes,
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਆਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੁੱਝਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ਕਾਇ ॥੩॥
taa kee aas na poojai kaae |3|
no desires are fulfilled. ||3||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਸ ਸਿਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ॥੩॥
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh apanee daat |
O God, grant Your Grace, and give me this gift.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੬੫॥੧੩੪॥

Please, let Nanak chant Your Name, day and night. ||4||65||134||
