ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
har har naam jeea praan adhaar |
are all in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the Support of the soul and the breath of life.
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
saachaa dhan paaeo har rang |
I have obtained the true wealth of the Lord's Love.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੩॥
dutar tare saadh kai sang |3|
I have crossed over the treacherous world-ocean in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||3||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਔਖੇ ਤਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸੁਖਿ ਬੈਸਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਸਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
sukh baisahu sant sajan paravaar |
Sit in peace, O Saints, with the family of friends.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਵਾਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠੋ।
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਓ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥
har dhan khattio jaa kaa naeh sumaar |
Earn the wealth of the Lord, which is beyond estimation.
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਕਮਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
jiseh paraapat tis gur dee |
He alone obtains it, unto whom the Guru has bestowed it.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਹੇਇ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੯੬॥
naanak birathaa koe na hee |4|27|96|
O Nanak, no one shall go away empty-handed. ||4||27||96||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਕੇ) ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੯੬॥

ਹਸਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਹੋਹਿ ਤਤਕਾਲ ॥
hasat puneet hohi tatakaal |
The hands are sanctified instantly,
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ) ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
binas jaeh maaeaa janjaal |
and the entanglements of Maya are dispelled.
ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਦੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਰਸਨਾ ਰਮਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਣ ਨੀਤ ॥
rasanaa ramahu raam gun neet |
Repeat constantly with your tongue the Glorious Praises of the Lord,
ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ,
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥
sukh paavahu mere bhaaee meet |1|
and you shall find peace, O my friends, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੇਂਗਾ ॥੧॥
ਲਿਖੁ ਲੇਖਣਿ ਕਾਗਦਿ ਮਸਵਾਣੀ ॥
likh lekhan kaagad masavaanee |
With pen and ink, write upon your paper
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰ ਵੀਰ! ਆਪਣੀ 'ਸੁਰਤਿ' ਦੀ) ਕਲਮ (ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ 'ਕਰਣੀ' ਦੇ) ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਉਤੇ ('ਮਨ' ਦੀ) ਦਵਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਖ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam har amrit baanee |1| rahaau |
the Name of the Lord, the Ambrosial Word of the Lord's Bani. ||1||Pause||
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਲਿਖ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਹ ਕਾਰਜਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
eih kaaraj tere jaeh bikaar |
By this act, your sins shall be washed away.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ!) ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਵਿਕਾਰ ਨੱਸ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਮਾਰ ॥
simarat raam naahee jam maar |
Remembering the Lord in meditation, you shall not be punished by the Messenger of Death.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਗੀ।
ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੇ ਦੂਤ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥
dharam raae ke doot na johai |
The couriers of the Righteous Judge of Dharma shall not touch you.
(ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਦੂਤ ਜੋ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਲ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਣਗੇ,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨ ਨ ਕਛੂਐ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੨॥
maaeaa magan na kachhooai mohai |2|
The intoxication of Maya shall not entice you at all. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਡੁੱਬੇਂਗਾ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇਗੀ ॥੨॥
ਉਧਰਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
audhareh aap tarai sansaar |
You shall be redeemed, and through you, the whole world shall be saved,
(ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ, (ਤੇਰੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਜਗਤ ਭੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਇਗਾ।
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam jap ekankaar |
if you chant the Name of the One and Only Lord.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਇਕ ਓਅੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ।
ਆਪਿ ਕਮਾਉ ਅਵਰਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
aap kamaau avaraa upades |
Practice this yourself, and teach others
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰ,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥੩॥
raam naam hiradai paraves |3|
instill the Lord's Name in your heart. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ॥੩॥
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਏਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
jaa kai maathai ehu nidhaan |
That person, who has this treasure upon his forehead
(ਪਰ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ!) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਹੈ।
ਸੋਈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜਪੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥
soee purakh japai bhagavaan |
that person meditates on God.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖ-ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥੨੮॥੯੭॥
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
aatth pehar har har gun gaau |
Twenty-four hours a day, chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਰਾਗ ਗਉੜੀ-ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਰ-ਦੋ-ਪਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੮॥੯੭॥
kahu naanak hau tis bal jaau |4|28|97|
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||4||28||97||
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਜੋ ਪਰਾਇਓ ਸੋਈ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
jo paraaeo soee apanaa |
That which belongs to another - he claims as his own.
(ਮਾਲ-ਧਨ ਆਦਿਕ) ਜੋ (ਆਖ਼ਿਰ) ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੰਨੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਜੋ ਤਜਿ ਛੋਡਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਰਚਨਾ ॥੧॥
jo taj chhoddan tis siau man rachanaa |1|
That which he must abandon - to that, his mind is attracted. ||1||
ਸਾਡਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ (ਮਾਲ-ਧਨ) ਨਾਲ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਖ਼ਿਰ) ਛੱਡ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਹਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਕੇਹ ॥
kahahu gusaaee mileeai keh |
Tell me, how can he meet the Lord of the World?
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਦੱਸੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਜੋ ਬਿਬਰਜਤ ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo bibarajat tis siau neh |1| rahaau |
That which is forbidden - with that, he is in love. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਸਾਡਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਰਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਝੂਠੁ ਬਾਤ ਸਾ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥
jhootth baat saa sach kar jaatee |
That which is false - he deems as true.
(ਇਹ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਝੂਠਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸਾਂ ਇਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਹਿ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ) ਜੋ ਝੂਠੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,
ਸਤਿ ਹੋਵਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
sat hovan man lagai na raatee |2|
That which is true - his mind is not attached to that at all. ||2||
(ਮੌਤ) ਜੋ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਵਾਪਰਨੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਚਦੀ ॥੨॥
ਬਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਟੇਢਾ ਚਲਨਾ ॥
baavai maarag ttedtaa chalanaa |
He takes the crooked path of the unrighteous way
(ਮੰਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਅਸਾਂ ਮੰਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਸਤਾ ਮੱਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਵਿੰਗੀ ਚਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੀਧਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਪੂਠਾ ਬੁਨਨਾ ॥੩॥
seedhaa chhodd apootthaa bunanaa |3|
leaving the straight and narrow path, he weaves his way backwards. ||3||
ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵਨ-ਤਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਪੁੱਠੀ ਬੁਣਤ ਬੁਣ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
duhaa siriaa kaa khasam prabh soee |
God is the Lord and Master of both worlds.
(ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ?) (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ) ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਸੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਈ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੯੮॥
jis mele naanak so mukataa hoee |4|29|98|
He, whom the Lord unites with Himself, O Nanak, is liberated. ||4||29||98||
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੰਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੯੮॥

ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥
kalijug meh mil aae sanjog |
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, they come together through destiny.
ਇਸ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਪਤੀ) ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸੰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜਿਚਰੁ ਆਗਿਆ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਭੋਗ ॥੧॥
jichar aagiaa tichar bhogeh bhog |1|
As long as the Lord commands, they enjoy their pleasures. ||1||
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਹੁਕਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ (ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥
ਜਲੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥
jalai na paaeeai raam sanehee |
By burning oneself, the Beloved Lord is not obtained.
(ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਕਿਰਤਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਸਤੀ ਉਠਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kirat sanjog satee utth hoee |1| rahaau |
Only by the actions of destiny does she rise up and burn herself, as a 'satee'. ||1||Pause||
(ਆਪਣੇ ਮਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ) ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਸਤੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਚਿਖ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੂਲ ਹੀ ਸੜ ਮਰਦੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਦੇਖਾ ਦੇਖੀ ਮਨਹਠਿ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
dekhaa dekhee manahatth jal jaaeeai |
Imitating what she sees, with her stubborn mind-set, she goes into the fire.
ਇਕ ਦੂਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਸੜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਮਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਚਿਖ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ।
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
pria sang na paavai bahu jon bhavaaeeai |2|
She does not obtain the Company of her Beloved Lord, and she wanders through countless incarnations. ||2||
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ) ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਭਟਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੀਲ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨੈ ॥

With pure conduct and self-restraint, she surrenders to her Husband Lord's Will
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਪਤੀ) ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਜਮਾਨੈ ॥੩॥
tis naaree kau dukh na jamaanai |3|
that woman shall not suffer pain at the hands of the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਉਸ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੩॥
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
kahu naanak jin priau paramesar kar jaaniaa |
Says Nanak, she who looks upon the Transcendent Lord as her Husband,
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਜਿਸ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਖਸਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਤੀ-ਭਾਵਨਾ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭਗਤ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ,
ਧੰਨੁ ਸਤੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨਿਆ ॥੪॥੩੦॥੯੯॥
dhan satee daragah paravaaniaa |4|30|99|
is the blessed 'satee' she is received with honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||30||99||
ਉਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਸਲੀ ਸਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੩੦॥੯੯॥

ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦੇ) ਧਨੀ ਬਣਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ,
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, with natural, intuitive ease. ||1||Pause||
(ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ) ਅਸੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ (ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
