ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਿਲੁ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਧਿ ਕਾਜੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੪॥੩੦॥੬੮॥
vaddabhaagee mil sangatee mere govindaa jan naanak naam sidh kaajai jeeo |4|4|30|68|
By great good fortune, one joins the Sangat, the Holy Congregation, O my Lord of the Universe O servant Nanak, through the Naam, one's affairs are resolved. ||4||4||30||68||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ (ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਤੇ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ। ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਦੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੩੦॥੬੮॥

ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਲਗਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

The Lord has implanted a longing for the Lord's Name within me.
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਕ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa har prabh mit milai sukh paaee jeeo |
I have met the Lord God, my Best Friend, and I have found peace.
ਮੈਂ (ਹੁਣ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ) ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਹੀ ਪਏ।
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
har prabh dekh jeevaa meree maaee jeeo |
Beholding my Lord God, I live, O my mother.
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

The Lord's Name is my Friend and Brother. ||1||
(ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਵੀਰ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
gun gaavahu sant jeeo mere har prabh kere jeeo |
O Dear Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord God.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਤੁਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੋ,
ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
jap guramukh naam jeeo bhaag vaddere jeeo |
As Gurmukh, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O very fortunate ones.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥
har har naam jeeo praan har mere jeeo |
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my soul and my breath of life.
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਹਰਿ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੁਣ) ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਭਵਜਲ ਫੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
fir bahurr na bhavajal fere jeeo |2|
I shall never again have to cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁੜ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ) ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ॥੨॥
ਕਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੇਖਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
kiau har prabh vekhaa merai man tan chaau jeeo |
How shall I behold my Lord God? My mind and body yearn for Him.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਲਗਾ ਭਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
har melahu sant jeeo man lagaa bhaau jeeo |
Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints my mind is in love with Him.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ) ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਉ।
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਰਾਉ ਜੀਉ ॥
gurasabadee paaeeai har preetam raau jeeo |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I have found the Sovereign Lord, my Beloved.
(ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।) ॥੩॥
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਡੜੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
merai man tan vaddarree govind prabh aasaa jeeo |
Within my mind and body, there is such a great longing for God, the Lord of the Universe.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਜੀਉ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
har melahu sant jeeo govid prabh paasaa jeeo |
Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints. God, the Lord of the Universe, is so close to me.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਓਹ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਉ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

Through the Teachings of the True Guru, the Naam is always revealed
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਿਅੜੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੫॥੩੧॥੬੯॥
jan naanak pooriarree man aasaa jeeo |4|5|31|69|
the desires of servant Nanak's mind have been fulfilled. ||4||5||31||69||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ) ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੩੧॥੬੯॥

ਮੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa birahee naam milai taa jeevaa jeeo |
If I receive my Love, the Naam, then I live.
ਮੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮੈਥੋਂ) ਵਿੱਛੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਮਿੱਤਰ) ਮਿਲ ਪਏ।
ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
man andar amrit guramat har leevaa jeeo |
In the temple of the mind, is the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord through the Guru's Teachings, we drink it in.
ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ) ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਪੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
man har rang ratarraa har ras sadaa peevaa jeeo |
My mind is drenched with the Love of the Lord. I continually drink in the sublime essence of the Lord.
(ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਅੜਾ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
har paaeiarraa man jeevaa jeeo |1|
I have found the Lord within my mind, and so I live. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਹਰੀ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਊ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧॥
ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
merai man tan prem lagaa har baan jeeo |
The arrow of the Lord's Love has pierced by mind and body.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਤੀਰ ਵਿੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
meraa preetam mitru har purakh sujaan jeeo |
The Lord, the Primal Being, is All-knowing He is my Beloved and my Best Friend.
(ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਸੁਜਾਨ ਹਰੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur mele sant har sugharr sujaan jeeo |
The Saintly Guru has united me with the All-knowing and All-seeing Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਸੁਘੜ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਹਉ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
hau naam vittahu kurabaan jeeo |2|
I am a sacrifice to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਤੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
hau har har sajan har meet dasaaee jeeo |
I seek my Lord, Har, Har, my Intimate, my Best Friend.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਂ (ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ) ਹਰਿ-ਸੱਜਣ ਹਰਿ-ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਦਾ ਪਤਾ) ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਦਸਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਖੋਜੁ ਪਵਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
har dasahu santahu jee har khoj pavaaee jeeo |
Show me the way to the Lord, Dear Saints I am searching all over for Him.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ) ਦੱਸੋ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ-ਸੱਜਣ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠੜਾ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
satigur tuttharraa dase har paaee jeeo |
The Kind and Compassionate True Guru has shown me the Way, and I have found the Lord.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਮੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਮਿੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ) ਦੱਸੇ,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
har naame naam samaaee jeeo |3|
Through the Name of the Lord, I am absorbed in the Naam. ||3||
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੩॥
ਮੈ ਵੇਦਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਲਗਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
mai vedan prem har birahu lagaaee jeeo |
I am consumed with the pain of separation from the Love of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਉੱਠ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜਾਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਕ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
gur saradhaa poor amrit mukh paaee jeeo |
The Guru has fulfilled my desire, and I have received the Ambrosial Nectar in my mouth.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ (ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਵਾਂ।
ਹਰਿ ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥
har hohu deaal har naam dhiaaee jeeo |
The Lord has become merciful, and now I meditate on the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਦਿਆਲ ਹੋ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਵਾਂ,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੦॥੧੮॥੩੨॥੭੦॥
jan naanak har ras paaee jeeo |4|6|20|18|32|70|
Servant Nanak has obtained the sublime essence of the Lord. ||4||6||20||18||32||70||
ਤੇ ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੦॥੧੮॥੩੨॥੭੦॥

ਰਾਗ ਗਉੜੀ-ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਰ-ਪਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਿਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਹੋਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

How can happiness be found, O my Siblings of Destiny?
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਕਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਪੈਦਾ) ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

(ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹਰੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕੁਸਲੁ ਨ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥

There is no happiness in owning one's own home, in all of Maya,
ਘਰ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਊਚੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਛਾਇਆ ॥

or in lofty mansions casting beautiful shadows.
ਉੱਚੇ ਮਹਲ-ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਮਾਣਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਝੂਠੇ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
jhootthe laalach janam gavaaeaa |1|
In fraud and greed, this human life is being wasted. ||1||
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਝੂਠੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਜਨਮ ਗਵਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
