ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨੇੜੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੁ ॥

He is always near at hand He is never far away.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਸਾਡੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਨਾਹ ਸਮਝੋ।
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਜੀਕਿ ਪਛਾਣਹੁ ॥
gur kai sabad najeek pachhaanahu |
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, realize that He is very near.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖੋ।
ਬਿਗਸੈ ਕਮਲੁ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥
bigasai kamal kiran paragaasai paragatt kar dekhaaeaa |15|
Your heart-lotus shall blossom forth, and the ray of God's Divine Light shall illuminate your heart He shall be revealed to You. ||15||
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ) ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੱਬੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੀ) ਕਿਰਨ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਪਰਤੱਖ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫॥
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
aape karataa sachaa soee |
The True Lord is Himself the Creator.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
aape maar jeevaale avar na koee |
He Himself kills, and gives life there is no other at all.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਵਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਰਦਾ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪੈਦਾ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ)।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੨੪॥
naanak naam milai vaddiaaee aap gavaae sukh paaeaa |16|2|24|
O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, glorious greatness is obtained. Eradicating self-conceit, peace is found. ||16||2||24||
ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਇਸ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੨੪॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
sachaa aap savaaranahaaraa |
The Lord Lord Himself is the One who exalts and embellishes.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਅਵਰ ਨ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਬੀਜੀ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
avar na soojhas beejee kaaraa |
Do not consider any other work.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜੀ ਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
guramukh sach vasai ghatt antar sahaje sach samaaee he |1|
The True Lord abides deep within the heart of the Gurmukh, who intuitively merges in the True Lord. ||1||
ਪਰ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਭਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
sabhanaa sach vasai man maahee |
The True Lord dwells within the minds of all.
(ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥
gur parasaadee sehaj samaahee |
By Guru's Grace, they are intuitively absorbed in Him.
ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ) ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
gur gur karat sadaa sukh paaeaa gur charanee chit laaee he |2|
Calling out, "Guru, Guru", I have found eternal peace my consciousness is focused on the Guru's feet. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
satigur hai giaan satigur hai poojaa |
The True Guru is spiritual wisdom the True Guru is worship and adoration.
ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ (ਸਿਖਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
satigur sevee avar na doojaa |
I serve the True Guru, and no other.
ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ (ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ)।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
satigur te naam ratan dhan paaeaa satigur kee sevaa bhaaee he |3|
From the True Guru, I have obtained the wealth, the jewel of the Naam. Service to the True Guru is pleasing to me. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
bin satigur jo doojai laage |
Without the True Guru, those who are attached to duality
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ,
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
aaveh jaeh bhram mareh abhaage |
come and go, and wander in reincarnation these unfortunate ones die.
ਉਹ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
naanak tin kee fir gat hovai ji guramukh raheh saranaaee he |4|
O Nanak, even after they are emancipated, those who become Gurmukh remain in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਫਿਰ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚੀ ॥
guramukh preet sadaa hai saachee |
The love of the Gurmukh is forever true.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪੱਕੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਜਾਚੀ ॥
satigur te maagau naam ajaachee |
I beg for the invaluable Naam, the Name of the Lord, from the Guru.
(ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਉਂ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ-) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
hohu deaal kripaa kar har jeeo rakh levahu gur saranaaee he |5|
O Dear Lord, please be kind, and grant Your Grace please keep me in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||5||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ॥੫॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਚੁਆਇਆ ॥

The True Guru trickles the Ambrosial Nectar into my mouth.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਦਸਵੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਆ ॥
dasavai duaar pragatt hoe aaeaa |
My Tenth Gate has been opened and revealed.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤਹ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਹਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
teh anahad sabad vajeh dhun baanee sahaje sehaj samaaee he |6|
The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates and resounds there, with the melody of the Guru's Bani one is easily, intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||6||
ਉਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਇਉਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਉਥੇ) ਪੰਜ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਜ਼ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਤੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
jin kau karatai dhur likh paaee |
Those who are so pre-ordained by the Creator,
ਪਰ, (ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਦਾਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹੋਂ ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਈ ॥
anadin gur gur karat vihaaee |
pass their nights and days calling on the Guru.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਸੀਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
bin satigur ko seejhai naahee gur charanee chit laaee he |7|
Without the True Guru, no one understands focus your consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||7||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ ॥੭॥
ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥
jis bhaavai tis aape dee |
The Lord Himself blesses those with whom He is pleased.
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲੇਇ ॥
guramukh naam padaarath lee |
The Gurmukh receives the wealth of the Naam.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
aape kripaa kare naam devai naanak naam samaaee he |8|
When the Lord grants His Grace, He bestows the Naam Nanak is immersed and absorbed in the Naam. ||8||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ॥

The jewel of spiritual wisdom is revealed within the mind.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੂਝ ਉੱਘੜ ਪਈ,
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਇਆ ॥
naam padaarath sahaje leaa |
The wealth of the Naam is easily, intuitively received.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ।
ਏਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
eeh vaddiaaee gur te paaee satigur kau sad bal jaaee he |9|
This glorious greatness is obtained from the Guru I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||9||
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਹੀ) ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੯॥
ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸੂਰੁ ਨਿਸਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥
pragattiaa soor nis mittiaa andhiaaraa |
With the rising of the sun, the darkness of the night is dispelled.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ) ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ) ਰਾਤ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਰਤਨਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

Spiritual ignorance is eradicated, by the priceless jewel of the Guru.
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਗਿਆਨ-ਰਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਅਗਿਆਨ-ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
satigur giaan ratan at bhaaree karam milai sukh paaee he |10|
The True Guru is the fantastically valuable jewel of spiritual wisdom blessed by God's Mercy, peace is found. ||10||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ) 'ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨ' ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, and his good reputation increases.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਖਿੱਲਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਛਾ ਲੋਇ ॥
chahu jug niramal hachhaa loe |
In all four ages he is considered to be pure and good.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੱਛਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
naame naam rate sukh paaeaa naam rahiaa liv laaee he |11|
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he finds peace. He remains lovingly focused on the Naam. ||11||
ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੧॥
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

The Gurmukh receives the Naam.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
sahaje jaagai sahaje sovai |
In intuitive peace he wakes, and in intuitive peace he sleeps.
ਉਹ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
