ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ॥
saadhasang janam maran mittaavai |
To the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, shall be rid of the cycle of birth and death.
ਉਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਆਪਣਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਸ ਮਨੋਰਥੁ ਪੂਰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਭੇਟਤ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
aas manorath pooran hovai bhettat gur darasaaeaa jeeo |2|
His hopes and desires are fulfilled, when he gains the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. ||2||
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
agam agochar kichh mit nahee jaanee |
The limits of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable Lord cannot be known.
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
saadhik sidh dhiaaveh giaanee |
The seekers, the Siddhas, those beings of miraculous spiritual powers, and the spiritual teachers, all meditate on Him.
ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ, ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਵਾਨ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।)
ਖੁਦੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਭੋਲਾਵਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
khudee mittee chookaa bholaavaa gur man hee meh pragattaaeaa jeeo |3|
Thus, their egos are erased, and their doubts are dispelled. The Guru has enlightened their minds. ||3||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥
anad mangal kaliaan nidhaanaa |
I chant the Name of the Lord, the Treasure of bliss,
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥
sookh sehaj har naam vakhaanaa |
Joy, salvation, intuitive peace and poise.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੨॥
hoe kripaal suaamee apanaa naau naanak ghar meh aaeaa jeeo |4|25|32|
When my Lord and Master blessed me with His Mercy, O Nanak, then His Name entered the home of my mind. ||4||25||32||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੩੨॥

Hearing of You, I live.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

You are my Beloved, my Lord and Master, Utterly Great.
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ (ਮਾਲਕ) ਹੈਂ।
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਓਟ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tumare karatab tum hee jaanahu tumaree ott guopaalaa jeeo |1|
You alone know Your Ways I grasp Your Support, Lord of the World. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

Singing Your Glorious Praises, my mind is rejuvenated.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁੱਕਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਮਨ ਹਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਤ ਮਲੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਖੋਵੈ ॥
kathaa sunat mal sagalee khovai |
Hearing Your Sermon, all filth is removed.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਭੇਟਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਉ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
bhettat sang saadh santan kai sadaa jpau deaalaa jeeo |2|
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meditate forever on the Merciful Lord. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਰਉ ॥
prabh apunaa saas saas samaarau |
I dwell on my God with each and every breath.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰਉ ॥
eih mat gur prasaad man dhaarau |
This understanding has been implanted within my mind, by Guru's Grace.
ਇਹ ਸੁਚੱਜ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਮਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਾ ਸਰਬ ਮਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
tumaree kripaa te hoe pragaasaa sarab meaa pratipaalaa jeeo |3|
By Your Grace, the Divine Light has dawned. The Merciful Lord cherishes everyone. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੩॥
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
sat sat sat prabh soee |
True, True, True is that God.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਈ ॥
sadaa sadaa sad aape hoee |
Forever, forever and ever, He Himself is.
ਸਦਾ ਹੀ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ।
ਚਲਿਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੩॥
chalit tumaare pragatt piaare dekh naanak bhe nihaalaa jeeo |4|26|33|
Your Playful Ways are revealed, O my Beloved. Beholding them, Nanak is enraptured. ||4||26||33||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। (ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਦਾਸ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੩੩॥

ਹੁਕਮੀ ਵਰਸਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਮੇਹਾ ॥

By His Command, the rain begins to fall.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ-ਰੁੱਤ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬਹੁਤ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਉੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਅੰਨ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ)
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇਹਾ ॥
saajan sant mil naam japehaa |
The Saints and friends have met to chant the Naam.
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੰਦੇ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਤਾਂ ਉਥੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਵਰਖਾ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ
ਸੀਤਲ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਠਾਢਿ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
seetal saant sehaj sukh paaeaa tthaadt paaee prabh aape jeeo |1|
Serene tranquility and peaceful ease have come God Himself has brought a deep and profound peace. ||1||
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਬੰਦੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਥੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਹੁਤੋ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
sabh kichh bahuto bahut upaaeaa |
God has produced everything in great abundance.
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ (ਦਾ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਫ਼ਸਲ) ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਗਲ ਰਜਾਇਆ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh sagal rajaaeaa |
Granting His Grace, God has satisfied all.
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਥੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
daat karahu mere daataaraa jeea jant sabh dhraape jeeo |2|
Bless us with Your Gifts, O my Great Giver. All beings and creatures are satisfied. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ! (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਨ-ਧਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੁੰ ਰਜਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰਜਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੨॥
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
sachaa saahib sachee naaee |
True is the Master, and True is His Name.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ,
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
gur parasaad tis sadaa dhiaaee |
By Guru's Grace, I meditate forever on Him.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਕਾਟੇ ਮੋਹਾ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
janam maran bhai kaatte mohaa binase sog santaape jeeo |3|
The fear of birth and death has been dispelled emotional attachment, sorrow and suffering have been erased. ||3||
(ਉਸ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ॥
saas saas naanak saalaahe |
With each and every breath, Nanak praises the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਫਾਹੇ ॥
simarat naam kaatte sabh faahe |
Meditating in remembrance on the Name, all bonds are cut away.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸ ਕਰੀ ਖਿਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਾਪੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੪॥
pooran aas karee khin bheetar har har har gun jaape jeeo |4|27|34|
One's hopes are fulfilled in an instant, chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||4||27||34||
(ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤੇ ਹੁਣ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੩੪॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਉ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
aau saajan sant meet piaare |
Come, dear friends, Saints and companions:
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰੋ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਆਓ,
ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਵਹ ਗੁਣ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥
mil gaavah gun agam apaare |
let us join together and sing the Glorious Praises of the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord.
ਅਸੀਂ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੀਏ।
ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਣਤ ਸਭੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਸੋ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਮ ਕੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
gaavat sunat sabhe hee mukate so dhiaaeeai jin ham kee jeeo |1|
Those who sing and hear these praises are liberated, so let us meditate on the One who created us. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਜਾਵਹਿ ॥
janam janam ke kilabikh jaaveh |
The sins of countless incarnations depart,
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਸੇਈ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
man chinde seee fal paaveh |
and we receive the fruits of the mind's desires.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਫਲ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਵਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੋ ਫਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਭਸੁ ਕਉ ਦੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
simar saahib so sach suaamee rijak sabhas kau dee jeeo |2|
So meditate on that Lord, our True Lord and Master, who gives sustenance to all. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
naam japat sarab sukh paaeeai |
Chanting the Naam, all pleasures are obtained.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭੁ ਭਉ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
sabh bhau binasai har har dhiaaeeai |
All fears are erased, meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਗਿਰਾਮੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਗਲੇ ਥੀਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
jin seviaa so paaragiraamee kaaraj sagale thee jeeo |3|
One who serves the Lord swims across to the other side, and all his affairs are resolved. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਰਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੩॥
ਆਇ ਪਇਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
aae peaa teree saranaaee |
I have come to Your Sanctuary
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
jiau bhaavai tiau laihi milaaee |
if it pleases You, unite me with You.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈ।
