ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਕਾਟੈ ਮਨ ਪੀਰਾ ॥੨॥
gur poore saabaas hai kaattai man peeraa |2|
The Perfect Guru is honored and celebrated He has taken away the pains of my mind. ||2||
ਸੇਵਕ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਲਾਲਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਧਣੀ ਕੋ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ਵਡਿਆਈਐ ॥
laalaa golaa dhanee ko kiaa khau vaddiaaeeai |
I am the servant and slave of my Master what glorious greatness of His can I describe?
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ-ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?
ਭਾਣੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥
bhaanai bakhase pooraa dhanee sach kaar kamaaeeai |
The Perfect Master, by the Pleasure of His Will, forgives, and then one practices Truth.
ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ-ਉਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਵਕ) ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ (ਦੀ) ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਕਉ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
vichhurriaa kau mel le gur kau bal jaaeeai |3|
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who re-unites the separated ones. ||3||
ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਮਤਿ ਖਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਨੀਕੀ ॥
laale gole mat kharee gur kee mat neekee |
The intellect of His servant and slave is noble and true it is made so by the Guru's intellect.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ-ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਭੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੀ ॥
saachee surat suhaavanee manamukh mat feekee |
The intuition of those who are true is beautiful the intellect of the self-willed manmukh is insipid.
ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿੱਕ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਚੁ ਧੀਰਕ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ॥੪॥
man tan teraa too prabhoo sach dheerak dhur kee |4|
My mind and body belong to You, God from the very beginning, Truth has been my only support. ||4||
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ? ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ) ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਟੇਕ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ॥੪॥
ਸਾਚੈ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਉਠਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
saachai baisan utthanaa sach bhojan bhaakhiaa |
In Truth I sit and stand I eat and speak the Truth.
(ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ) ਉਠਣਾ ਬੈਠਣਾ (ਸਦਾ ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਹੈ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਚਿਤਿ ਸਚੈ ਵਿਤੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
chit sachai vito sachaa saachaa ras chaakhiaa |
With Truth in my consciousness, I gather the wealth of Truth, and drink in the sublime essence of Truth.
ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਰਸ ਸਦਾ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥੫॥
saachai ghar saachai rakhe gur bachan subhaakhiaa |5|
In the home of Truth, the True Lord protects me I speak the Words of the Guru's Teachings with love. ||5||
(ਸੇਵਕ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਆਲਸੁ ਘਣੋ ਫਾਥੇ ਓਜਾੜੀ ॥
manamukh kau aalas ghano faathe ojaarree |
The self-willed manmukh is very lazy he is trapped in the wilderness.
ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬਹੁਤ ਆਲਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਞ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਫਾਥਾ ਚੁਗੈ ਨਿਤ ਚੋਗੜੀ ਲਗਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਵਿਗਾੜੀ ॥
faathaa chugai nit chogarree lag bandh vigaarree |
He is drawn to the bait, and continually pecking at it, he is trapped his link to the Lord is ruined.
(ਨਾਮ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਨਿਤ (ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਕੋਝੀ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ) ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਿਜ ਤਾੜੀ ॥੬॥
gur parasaadee mukat hoe saache nij taarree |6|
By Guru's Grace, one is liberated, absorbed in the primal trance of Truth. ||6||
(ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਅਨਹਤਿ ਲਾਲਾ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
anahat laalaa bedhiaa prabh het piaaree |
His slave remains continually pierced through with love and affection for God.
ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਵਿੱਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸੇਵਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਜੀਉ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਉ ਝੂਠੇ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
bin saache jeeo jal blau jhootthe vekaaree |
Without the True Lord, the soul of the false, corrupt person is burnt to ashes.
(ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਝੂਠੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਸੜ ਬਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਬਾਦਿ ਕਾਰਾ ਸਭਿ ਛੋਡੀਆ ਸਾਚੀ ਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
baad kaaraa sabh chhoddeea saachee tar taaree |7|
Abandoning all evil actions, he crosses over in the boat of Truth. ||7||
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੇਵਕ ਮੋਹ-ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ (ਸੇਵਕ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਾਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈ ॥੭॥
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥
jinee naam visaariaa tinaa tthaur na tthaau |
Those who have forgotten the Naam have no home, no place of rest.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ।
ਲਾਲੈ ਲਾਲਚੁ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
laalai laalach tiaagiaa paaeaa har naau |
The Lord's slave renounces greed and attachment, and obtains the Lord's Name.
ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਤੂ ਬਖਸਹਿ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੮॥੪॥
too bakhaseh taa mel laihi naanak bal jaau |8|4|
If You forgive him, Lord, then He is united with You Nanak is a sacrifice. ||8||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਏਂ ॥੮॥੪॥

ਲਾਲੈ ਗਾਰਬੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
laalai gaarab chhoddiaa gur kai bhai sehaj subhaaee |
The Lord's slave renounces his egotistical pride, through the Guru's Fear, intuitively and easily.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਸੇਵਕ (ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ) ਨੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਅਡੋਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਲਾਲੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
laalai khasam pachhaaniaa vaddee vaddiaaee |
The slave realizes his Lord and Master glorious is his greatness!
ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮਾਲਕ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਖਸਮਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
khasam miliai sukh paaeaa keemat kehan na jaaee |1|
Meeting with his Lord and Master, he finds peace His value cannot be desribed. ||1||
ਜੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਤਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧॥
ਲਾਲਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
laalaa golaa khasam kaa khasamai vaddiaaee |
I am the slave and servant of my Lord and Master all glory is to my Master.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gur parasaadee ubare har kee saranaaee |1| rahaau |
By Guru's Grace, I am saved, in the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਲਾਲੇ ਨੋ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਖਸਮਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥
laale no sir kaar hai dhur khasam furamaaee |
The slave has been given the most excellent task, by the Primal Command of the Master.
ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ (ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣ ਦੀ) ਕਾਰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਲਾਲੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
laalai hukam pachhaaniaa sadaa rahai rajaaee |
The slave realizes the Hukam of His Command, and submits to His Will forever.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਸੇਵਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਪੇ ਮੀਰਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
aape meeraa bakhas le vaddee vaddiaaee |2|
The Lord King Himself grants forgiveness how glorious is His greatness! ||2||
ਮਾਲਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸੇਵਕ ਉਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਆਪਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
aap sachaa sabh sach hai gur sabad bujhaaee |
He Himself is True, and everything is True this is revealed through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ (ਨਿਯਮ) ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ।
ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲੈਹਿ ਤੂ ਲਾਈ ॥
teree sevaa so kare jis no laihi too laaee |
He alone serves You, whom You have enjoined to do so.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਖੁਆਈ ॥੩॥
bin sevaa kinai na paaeaa doojai bharam khuaaee |3|
Without serving Him, no one finds Him in duality and doubt, they are ruined. ||3||
ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਿਆ, (ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਵੈ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
so kiau manahu visaareeai nit devai charrai savaaeaa |
How could we forget Him from our minds? The gifts which he bestows increase day by day.
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੁਲਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸਦਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਨਿਤ ਵਧਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
jeeo pindd sabh tis daa saahu tinai vich paaeaa |
Soul and body, all belong to Him He infused the breath into us.
ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਸਭ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਆਸ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
jaa kripaa kare taa seveeai sev sach samaaeaa |4|
If he shows His Mercy, then we serve Him serving Him, we merge in Truth. ||4||
(ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਸਕੀਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥
ਲਾਲਾ ਸੋ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
laalaa so jeevat marai mar vichahu aap gavaae |
He alone is the Lord's slave, who remains dead while yet alive, and eradicates egotism from within.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ (ਅਖਵਾ ਸਕਦਾ) ਹੈ ਜੋ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਤ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਾਂਹ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
bandhan tootteh mukat hoe trisanaa agan bujhaae |
His bonds are broken, the fire of his desire is quenched, and he is liberated.
(ਅਜੇਹੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਤੰਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁਝਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੫॥
sabh meh naam nidhaan hai guramukh ko paae |5|
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within all, but how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, obtain it. ||5||
ਉਂਞ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਇਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫॥
ਲਾਲੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਲਾ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰੁ ॥
laale vich gun kichh nahee laalaa avaganiaar |
Within the Lord's slave, there is no virtue at all the Lord's slave is totally unworthy.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਸੇਵਕ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਔਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਤੂ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
tudh jevadd daataa ko nahee too bakhasanahaar |
There is no Giver as great as You, Lord You alone are the Forgiver.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਾਲਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਏਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
teraa hukam laalaa mane eeh karanee saar |6|
Your slave obeys the Hukam of Your Command this is the most excellent action. ||6||
ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਣ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕੰਮ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੬॥
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਜੋ ਇਛੇ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur saagar amrit sar jo ichhe so fal paae |
The Guru is the pool of nectar in the world-ocean whatever one desires, that fruit is obtained.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਹੈ ('ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰੁ' ਹੈ। ਸੇਵਕ ਇਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਇਥੋਂ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਫਲ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
naam padaarath amar hai hiradai man vasaae |
The treasure of the Naam brings immortality enshrine it in your heart and mind.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਅਸਲ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
